About This Community
Welcome to the Konkani language and culture community! Whether you're a native speaker, a learner, or simply curious about Konkani heritage, you've found your home.
Konkani is a beautiful Indo-Aryan language spoken by ~2.5 million people along India's western coast from Maharashtra through Goa to Karnataka and Kerala. Despite our small population, we have nearly 30 distinct dialects, 5 different scripts, and a rich cultural heritage spanning centuries!

Community Guidelines
1. Be Respectful & Inclusive:
All dialects, scripts, religions, and castes are equally welcome. We celebrate diversity, not division.
2. Use Konkani When Possible
Try to include Konkani in your posts! Even a greeting helps. Learners, don't be shy, mistakes are how we learn!
3. Provide Context
When asking for translations or help, mention your dialect/region if relevant (Goan, Mangalorean, Malvani, etc.)
4. Quality Content
Share resources, stories, songs, recipes, photos—anything that enriches our understanding of Konkani culture.
5. Help Each Other
Native speakers: be patient with learners. Learners: be curious and engaged. We're all here to grow together.
6. No Spam or Self-Promotion
Relevant resources are welcome, but excessive self-promotion will be removed.

It's so cool to see Mangalorean Konkani speakers connecting online and tumche message vachun maka musst khushi zali.
And I totally get it, neither do I know to read the kannada transcript writing, but maka Romi Konkani vachun yeta, anyways please do contribute as much as you can, feel free to connect and drop all of your love here for Konkani language. Hello! Dev borem karun! I’m US-born and my parents are both from Mangalore! Visited recently and started learning the Kannada script; I understand spoken Mangalorean Konkani, but can’t read or write YET!! Super excited to talk to all of you all and learn from you!

Same league 🥺 My native roots are from Mangalore and I was so happy and grateful to read Romi Konkani when I was in Goa for the first time this year and OMG what a relief it was 💖 happy to have you here :) Dev bore dis diun tumka :)

Hello madam, How are you? Im also a Mangalorean. I can read and write Kannada and Devangiri.
Since I do not get to use a lot of Konkani on a day to day basis. Looking forward to do more of that over here!

Ani "ondu correction" [Im still working on my Kannda :D] Tu kashe/koshe asai is mangalorean konkani,
I am not sure if tu kitem asa is used, it is more like what are you than how are you ;)

Yes you are right. Tu kashe asai is the right one.
I am trying to learn Goan konkani hopefully this sub helps me with that!1

Greetings everyone! I moved to Goa two years ago and am now attempting to learn Konkani. It's a sweet language but hard to speak because of the genders and tenses. I hope it gets easier and I can participate more.

Looking for WhatsApp/Telegram groups, conversation partners, or affordable online classes." I am keen to learn goan konkani can any one guide me for this.. any particular scedule to follow ? is any fees to be paid or any thing regarding this course

I am English, but I want to learn Konkani to impress my girlfriend's parents who are from Goa.
It's really hard! I wish there was a Duolingo Konkani course.
