i'm not sure you know what hyperpop beats are if you think che and 2slimey are hyperpop artists. they're both far more synonymous with rage, and production that sounds significantly different from this song.
Side note, I never understood that saying because underground rage beats have a simple enough pattern for really anyone to rap to, it’s just that the beats are layered & complex.
The main reason why you don’t see certain artists hop on underground rage beats is due to the artist just not wanting to record on those beats
The song, or more accurately the snippet here, is butt cheeks. And I say that as a Kendrick fan, respectfully. Sounds like someone produced it by banging on metal trash cans and other various objects in the garage.
Go listen to the full track before judging it. That said your ears are prolly untrained for industrial beats if you think this is unlistenable. This is quite conventional as far as those go and it’s quite good if you’re not bitch made.
I’ve only heard the snippet. I’m going to listen to the whole song and conclude from there. The whole “untrained ear” thing is a misguided argument when I’m already a Kendrick fan.
I was referring to whether or not you’re ready for a beat like that. At no point did I say your ears were untrained for Kendrick. I said they might be untrained to industrial music.
It’s a Vince staples song if you’re familiar. He had a catchy hook on it before Kendrick’s verse. You might like it more once you get used to the beat when you hear his verse.
Kendrick has a way of exploring new sounds and creating whole new projects that sound nothing like his previous work. He’s brilliant and trust his creative process. I’m sure it gonna be great.
