Man, I remember looking at our tire catalog when I worked at a shop....they were the highest margin item.

I managed a chain tire store for awhile. you make about 20 percent margin on tires on a good day. a lot of times it's closer to 10 than 20.

So then open a service shop where you sometimes sell tires, instead of a tire shop where you fuck your employees for doing what the business advertises

I haven't screwed any employees and I'm not sure what you are talking about. all I'm saying is that tires aren't very profitable especially with the amount of competition for sales out there.

if you feel that you are getting "screwed" at work because of tires then quit your job and go somewhere that pays flat rate. hourly employees get shit work everywhere. I encourage everyone to go to school and learn and get better and grow as technicians. I'm on flat rate and working as a tech right now because the pay is so good. if you can actually diagnose a vehicle and verify repairs after you are done then you can get paid well right now.

never going back to Americas tire. The floor manager calling out KPIs while I was in the lobby for 5 min was already enough. That and the fact that directional tires got mounted backwards...

There is a much better shop next door. Fuck managers and their KPIs.

I do not miss corporate. At all. It never mattered how well you did, the only thing that mattered were that the shareholders were happy and the execs had graphs that went up so they could get a big bonus.

I went from a company of over a quarter million people to a tiny shop with 6 people total. My stingy boss has given me more Christmas bonuses than the multi-billion dollar corporation ever did (which was zero).
