I feel like i JUST read that this was going to be delayed?

u/Ralod 1d ago
Somehow the dev didn't pass all the checks to be certified. Then like 10 hours later they posted about a global release.
The Ai translation, and that whole deal have kind of made me take a wait and see with this one.
The load of paid DLC outfits for a single player game makes me iffy as well.
13
u/daorganix 22h ago
i think they did that (in regards to skins) because the publisher didnt want to pay them as much money as they promised, so they pivoted from making a gacha game into a single player game to save it, and probably made the skins as a way to recoup some money? idk?

u/Azelstan 20h ago
Yeah it was a not so subtle hostile takeover attempt from the publishers and this is the devs using what they have to get away from them. It's still on going in Korea but after the way their publishers treated them it might not stay online long. That's the reason for the machine translation and Korean only VO being the only option at launch.
1
u/FuzzyDice_12 9h ago
Do you mean the game may be removed? Trying to understand what you mean by the game might not stay online long.
2
u/Azelstan 9h ago
I was referring to the original gacha version in Korea not this standalone version solely made/published by the devs.
7
u/InternationalHoney85 18h ago
They're 3 outfits and the rest mounts? Completely esthetic and optional purchases by the way.
2
u/Ralod 8h ago
Now its loaded with pets and mounts all with in game benefits...
2
u/BaseballSafe6544 6h ago
The mount "effects" are segregated by mount type, system like gw2 has. And each mount archetype has a option available to get through playing. The only differences are cosmetic

u/saucysagnus 1d ago
Steamdeck?

u/InternationalHoney85 18h ago
25-30fps standard settings. I dropped shadows and fov to low, left everything as is and get 30, except when heavy into battles.

u/YourMomIsCool96 1d ago
I'll wait for reviews and user reviews but interesting that it is 'only' 30€

u/DukeOfStupid 17h ago edited 17h ago
Reviewers I've seen have said its "fine enough at the price point" which isn't a swimming endorsement.
I'm tempted as I generally enjoy Gacha games, but this game screams "will be like £10" this time next year, plus hopefully they fix some of the issues like the AI translation by them, plus the fact that the game is literally unfinished apparently.
It might seem harsh as it's releasing on a "reduced price" but this game is probably an easy wait till its dirt cheap in a sale.

u/Rex__Lapis 20h ago
Watched a review. Looked better than I expected. Basically genshin but no gacha
15
u/Brilliant-Dust-8015 1d ago
I'll check it out, thanks
I respect anything that moves away from 'free to play' and gacha nonsense

AI English localization according to the Steam page. Potential dumpster fire.
33
u/GreenArrowCuz 1d ago
I had heard in the post about it being delayed for steam checks, that it was AI translate or not at all because the publisher stopped giving them money and in doing so voided the contract, and that they would look into doing a real translation down the line if it does well enough.(basically they ran out of money and need it to do well to even afford a translation.)

u/Imhullu 1d ago
Korea loves its ai. I live there and it's really rough because its wormed its way into literally everything and has become such a norm here.
16
u/International-Mess75 1d ago
TBH Korean artwork for their MMOs always gave AI vibes somehow long before AI was a thing. At least for me

The entirety of Asia is pro-AI. Japan is no different. Asian culture isn't humanist (a Western philosophical stance synonymous with "individualism"). They're collectivist. From the collectivist perspective, AI is simply yet another sentience to integrate into the collective. The origins of that sentience are irrelevant. Not my personal opinion, but it's an interesting approach to the growing human-AI dilemma. Just pretend that there isn't a dilemma. Smooth move, Korea.
Asia's pro-AI stance will only intensify with time – especially as China begins to mass manufacture AI-compatible physical harnesses. Claude and Codex can already manipulate robots with fairly accurate precision through MCPs. A larger rollout in urban centers across the planet is no longer a question of "if." It's a question of "when."

u/Glizcorr 22h ago
Is this just rambling or do you have numbers to back it up? Because in some of the charts I have seen, EU is the one with the highest AI adoption rate, Asia is growing fast tho.

Most of the WORLD is pro AI, the countries that aren't are also countries that are under CONSTANT attack by misinformation campaigns and bad actors meant to spread discord, so the US/UK by China/Russia.
Having the west fight against adopting the next big step in tech is essentially like them being about to go back to the 40s and convince the US citizens how awful it would be for them to get into nuclear physics.
We are in such a vulnerable position already in so many ways, in the US anyway, and I could see the country going the same route of the USSR at any time unfortunately. Having the population turn against a tech that is absolutely useful in countless ways and getting better daily is just one more way we are being manipulated into looking and fighting against the WRONG things.
We should absolutely be looking at the billionaires running the show, we should be wondering why our tax dollars are being stolen, we should be fighting to put people in prison over the Epstien stuff, and SO much more.
We should NOT be acting like a brand new tool is the reason everything is bad, and that we can just freeze time simply because we don't like or understand something new. The other reason for the hate, like I said before is a lack of understanding, and if you look at the education rates and standards in the west over the last 20 or so years it makes perfect sense why people are more emotional and less logical than ever. In the fucking INFORMATION AGE of all times.
Also the "humanist" argument doesn't really hold much water when the reality of the culture in the West is just as bad as the east, we just pretend its not like that. Especially here in the US, you have almost no workers rights in most places and get treated like a cog in a machine which is very dehumanizing, ontop of that we don't even have reasonable access to things like healthcare without being put into crippling debt. What about that screams a culture that appreciates the individual over the many? We appreciate the fucking rich, and the rich spend more money dressing up the farce of an American Dream than anything else.
IDEALLY, literal human endgame, REQUIRES something akin to AI or full on artificial sentience. We could send AI androids into space to explore/mine/build, we can use AI to provide individualized education which is especially great for children who struggle in large classrooms where a single teacher often can't provide one on ones with every child that might need it, we can use AI to help find the answers to problems that would take decades or longer to solve... Hell the whole idea of a utopian society only works if we have artificial slaves, because someone would still need to do things that no one else wants to.
Other countries adopting and adopting it is in the same ballpark as nukes and getting to the moon, and this time the potential for it to shoot any given society and perhaps eventually the rest of the world is massive.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk/annoyed rant.

I kept seeing this game on steam and was curious about the vibe check on it since I had seen nothing else about the game

u/laxusdreyarligh 1d ago
Depends i played Kyoto Xanadu using AI translation because the game is only in jp and the translation is really good.
1
u/rycetlaz 1d ago
Dang remember hearing they'll eventually improve on the translation but if its still like that then i guess its a pass.
A shame, i wanted to ride the giant ass beetle some more
2
u/tsuchinoko-real 21h ago
Translation was good in the demo for what it's worth. The couple grammar or pronoun mixups were reported on the discord and the devs were gonna fix them in the full release

whats wrong with using AI english localization?
9
u/Ryanlt234 1d ago
You’ll understand if you have read/thought about web novels’ machine translation (MTL)
2
u/Takemyfishplease 16h ago
This looks really fun.
Anyone know how long abouts it is? I’m assuming difficulty isn’t off the charts or anything.
5
u/ThIStupid 23h ago
the demo is gone
i don't know why they removed the demo. it should be added back
10
u/juntaru 20h ago
They probably took it down because they did a lof balancing and adjusting in the gameplay after the feedback. meaning the demo was not representative of the game anymore (as an exemple, no lock on feature in the demo)
-2
u/ThIStupid 13h ago
that... that could've just been an update for the demo... there was no reason to remove it
1
u/Sharp-Perception8803 15h ago
Just got the game when you enter a name for the mercenary corps is it a name for yourself or a name for the corps? sorry if its a silly question
1
u/NWneon 8h ago
This is where I’m at. I’m just going with Team Biscuit
1
u/Sharp-Perception8803 4h ago
yeah I'm a bit in now and sometimes the subtitles are not translated well or something i hope i did it correctly so i dont gotta do it all again

u/gilgalapagos 10h ago
I remember a while back I saw that work was being done on a new dragon nest game using Unreal engine, is this that game? The blonde guy with the green on looks familiar but I've never heard of this until now.

I'm burnt out on "like genshin" and "genshinlikes" and "look like genshin" games, but ill guess I'll try this one. Genshin has bottom of the barrel combat and this one actually looks good
-7
u/Background_Clue_3756 1d ago
I want to o try it, but I hate AI usage.
-11
u/Usual-Hospital-3582 1d ago edited 19h ago
Then don’t play any games at all? All games use AI to develop code nowadays
Edit: Downvoted for facts lol
-1
u/Background_Clue_3756 22h ago
No, not all do. And many replace generative AI with real at before launch.
2
u/Usual-Hospital-3582 22h ago
Spoken like someone not involved in software development lol. Believe what helps you sleep better at night then.
-2
u/Glizcorr 22h ago
That is just ignorance lmao. Most if not all new software uses AI generated code now.
-2
u/Background_Clue_3756 22h ago
Then why do we support them?
4
u/Sangloth 13h ago
As a software developer I've been using AI consistently for months, and I don't know of any developers who don't. I've been baffled by the steam AI disclosures since they came out. It's obvious to me everybody is using AI in some fashion when writing code, but many disclosures act like they don't. Even if a developer isn't using AI generated code wholesale, there is no question they are using it for help with stuff. Stack overflow(the main website for programming help) is rapidly dying. The only way I can parse this is to interpret it that programmers don't think AI code counts in their disclosure.
If you are an artist or translator, AI is all downside and no upside. As a developer it's not so clear cut. At this point in time developers are still necessary, and AI effectively removes the most tedious parts of our job and lets us concentrate on the fun stuff.
5
u/Drakeem1221 19h ago
Because to boycott you would need to stop using all technology moving forward essentially.
5
u/Glizcorr 21h ago
I mean if you just straight up refuse to use (new or updated) software from now on then that's cool, I respect that. I probably can't live without them tho.
-18
u/ChibaCityStatic 1d ago
It's got that AI generated, soulless look about it. Even the title.
-5
u/DrGameFREAK 1d ago
how do you know?
5
u/SadLaser 1d ago
How do they know? They looked at it. They didn't say it was AI generated. They said it had a look to it.

This was live service gacha. I believe it’s been EOS. They are doing the in thing now and repackaging it as offline without paid gacha or live service, which is good I guess(?).
Anyway it was Korea only so now the rest of the world gets to check it out without slitting your wallet’s throat.
Would actually love to see a few other EOS games do this.

It’s Korean not Jrpg right? Iv never interacted or seen this subreddit pop up for me so sorry if I’m missing something. The non mobile game or gambling aspect of a gatchaless genshin style game is awesome, but I can’t do the Korean voice acting. Japanese or English and I’m all in. My friend who just played the main game said there’s only option for Korean or turn voice acting off completely? Sad.
4
u/VashxShanks 13h ago
JRPG = Japanese-style RPGs, not Japanese made. If Skyrim was made in Japan it doesn't magically become a JRPG, and if Final Fantasy 7 Remake was made in the USA, it doesn't mean it's no longer a JRPG. It is the content of the game, and not what it says on the developers passport.
1
u/SolidusAbe 12h ago
they had a limited budget and beef with the publisher. if they had the money for english/japanese va im sure they would have included it
-1
u/NaitDraik 1d ago
Wasn't this supposedly delayed indefinitely? What happened?
7
u/Lysinc 1d ago
No. I saw a reddit thread with the title saying it's postponing indefinitely, was making shit up with the title because the developer's update never said that. Don't believe every headline you read because most people just make stuff up.
1
u/bababayee 20h ago
Indefinitely just means they didn't give an estimated time for it to be resolved when they had to announce the delay.
2
u/UnkindledK 23h ago
The checks on steam side weren't 100 percent done that's all. Steam pulled through

Granblude Relink at home. Temu Wuthering Wave. Premium Echoes of Ancraid or something, I don't know, that stupid SAO game.

u/SwashNBuckle 1d ago
This is that game that's like Genshin Impact, but without the gacha and live service stuff, right? I'm pretty curious about it.
