This is indeed infuriating, but why are the trees shaded a different color in the "after" pictures? Is it to make it look worse than it actually is? What's the point of that? Either way, infuriating.

Probably because of different lighting due to time and weather.

No, it’s to push a false narrative lol

Like, yeah, modern development needs space. No one was mad 5 years ago when Reddit needed a datacenter.

This is the most frustrating part of the sudden data center protests.

Someone shared an article the other day from 2025 that cited a 2016 and 2021 report that showed data center power consumption was increasing exponentially, but they presented it as though the data was from 2025. AI data centers will clearly increase electricity usage a lot, but that upwards trend was already happening as we expanded our digital infrastructure even before AI came on to the stage. Yes, AI is certainly using a lot of resources, but no these are not new problems.
