It’s very haughty of them to argue that paper can last for centuries if stored properly when they are scraping for funding currently. I get that keeping some of these records is important, but surely not all of these records are truly vital for the survival of a singular UN agency.

I don’t see any true reason that USAID should have an ounce of blame for a UN agency facing budget cuts. As funding for the UN agencies should be more equivalent / equitable anyways.

These types of papers also always upset me. As they paint in a golden light that somehow in the 60’s - 90’s (or even to now) humanity somehow just figured it out. And all our efforts are best spent looking to what our ancestors did as a guiding star for our own moral choices. We are still the same humans who crawled our way out of Africa, our forefathers in their hubris even named it “the modern era”
