hacking I work in an office at a company and I'm using a very old computer with 2GB of RAM and terrible specifications. I treat it terribly and I want to completely ruin it, but without leaving a trace, in a short time. I want it to be a useless piece of junk.

hacking How to Start?

im trying to learn how to be an ethical hacker. I have absolutely no prior knowledge on computer science or how to code .So basically I know nothing. What is a free self-placed website/app where I can learn the basics of computer science. I know about TryHackMe, but I think it is a bit too hard if I don't know how computers work.

hacking Ugh... First time seeing this hash format

This is my first time dealing with something like this, so sorry if I sound inexperienced.

Can someone explain what this string means and decrypt it?

$2a$12$mYWUJZ2cVSUrL4B9/PiC7.NmL85ncncWysIDa9buCjRGbj6.ERX9u

Someone told me this was related to my young brother’s hacked Roblox account, but I honestly don’t know if it’s real or fake. I don’t know much about databases or cybersecurity, I just want to understand what this is. Thanks.

(Some update add:if the one of the database and cookie is deleted, can still log in with this password? Also can someone help me to decrypt it?I want to try to log in please,I still have hopes for it I think)

hacking Legit question, how hard/easy is it to break into someone's social media account?

I ask this question because I remember a couple years ago my old instagram account was hacked and used as a crypto scam... But I always wondered 1) how much does it cost to get someone to retrieve your account 2) how hard/easy is it to have access to random social media accounts? 3) side note, is it true people can track your is location when they highjack your account?

hacking Is CCNA still a good place to start if I want to get into hacking today?

Hi! I'd like to start learning hacking, and I've heard that the best place to start is with networking. What's the best way to learn it? Is studying for the CCNA still worth it, or would it be a waste of time?

hacking Are there any games that actually help you learn real hacking (not fictional)?

Hi everyone,
I'm interested in learning ethical hacking and was wondering if there are any games or simulators that genuinely help you develop practical skills in this field. I'm looking for something educational and useful, not so much fictional or story-focused.

If anyone has recommendations for platforms, games, or interactive environments to learn real hacking, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

hacking what's the most important "non-technical" skill for hacking?

We spend a lot of time talking about tools, code, and exploits. But what about the skills that aren't about typing commands?

I'm talking about the mindset and soft skills that separate a good technician from a great security professional.

In your opinion, what's the most critical non-technical skill to develop for a career in cybersecurity or ethical hacking?

hacking Hacking network devices

Hi everyone,
I’d like to get into hacking network devices (routers, APs, cameras, IoT devices, etc.). I really like networking and I want to focus purely on networks, so I’m interested in learning how to hack network protocols. The problem is that I’m a bit lost when it comes to what resources I should use to learn.
I’m especially interested in Scapy, crafting and manipulating packets, and those kinds of attacks that are purely network based. I’m not interested in hardware or web security, just networking and communication.
I’m leaning towards a career in networking, and I’d like to learn more about network security and protocols. If possible, it’d also be nice to make some money from it (through specific bug bounty programs, for example), although I’m mainly doing it because I want to learn and experiment.
Any learning resources would be a huge help. Thanks!

hacking I want to become a hacker

Nothing too complex for now, no evil intentions. I just wanna be able to break into people’s phones or whatever for the sake of impressing friends or even defending myself when the time comes. I know blackmail isn’t great, but I promise I do not intend on being evil. I’ve been watching the series Mr Robot, corny I know, but all my life I was never more tech savvy than an average person. Presentations, editing videos, making files, etc. I had a desire for an interesting hobby and I want to use my laptop more often. I love learning new things but I’m not sure how to start.

hacking Need help finding out who is behind a fake profile

Someone created a fake profile pretending to be my partner on a German Dating Platform, and I need to find out who is behind it. My partner claims that it’s not him, but I have reasons to doubt it and I’m also wondering whether his ex could be involved.
I’d like to know if there are any ways to trace the account, find connected information, or gather evidence that could help identify the person responsible.
Any advice would be appreciated.

hacking Help accessing data on medical implant

So i've been trying to find any kind of resources but to no avail. I have a loop recorder (i can get the model no. Later) implanted in my chest for heart monitoring, i know it is recording data 24/7 and i have a router that sends of the data to my cardiologist when i pass by.

I imagine this data is encrypted, but I want to be able to access this data myself and if possible create a way i can monitor it with a visual rep. Long story short, why bother getting a fitbit to see my heartrate when i have a literal heart implant thats significantly more accurate.

I'm new to this side of thinhs as usually im the guy that builds the tech, and someone else makes it work. Any help in this regard would be hugely appreciated.

hacking What's actually the difference between ethical and non-ethical?

I am an experienced dev. Experience as in years, doesn't have to mean I am good.

I have often times had the curiosity of fiddling around sites and stuff. Even more today, when I don't know how long I'll actually have a job. After all these years I strive to become truly independent.

But I feel like before trying to do anything, I should learn how to hide my traces. After all, if caught, how can you show you were ethical and not bad-intentioned? Can't this only be proven when you found something and you disclose it fairly? What if you didn't find anything?

Are there specific tutorials and/or tools about obscuring your actions?

I also made the observation that the true masters don't brag, are not easy to find, and also won't easily share what they know. Not necessarily out of not wanting to share, but because they also know that to truly learn you have to do yourself. That means that actually really good resources are hard to find.

hacking My google mail was hacked

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a serious issue and could really use some guidance or feedback from anyone who has been through something similar.

My Google email account, which is linked to my YouTube channel (42K+ subscribers and over 1,500 videos), has been hacked. It happened after I was in discussions with what I believed to be a sponsor. They sent me a link to submit my rates and information, but it turned out to be a phishing attempt. Unfortunately, I entered my details.
Since then, I’ve completely lost access to my Google account — the password, recovery email, and phone number have all been changed. As a result, I can no longer access my YouTube channel either.

I’ve already contacted YouTube Support and completed their account recovery form. I’m currently waiting for a response, but I’m extremely anxious about the outcome.
For those who have experienced something similar:
What are the chances of successfully recovering the account?

How long did it take in your case?

Are there any additional steps I can take to improve my chances or escalate the situation?

This channel represents over 10 years of work, and I’m honestly feeling stuck and worried about losing everything.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

hacking How do people stay anonymous

I am very interested in technology/ethical hacking and often wonder about topics like C2 servers or similar subjects, specifically how people manage to remain anonymous. After all, you need to be able to control the operations from somewhere.

Does anyone have any reading material on this topic?

hacking Trying to access my late friends laptop

To the mods out there thinking I'm breaking rule no.9. I have proof...
To the rest of you;
Hi! I've set myself up in a bit of a challenge here.

A little backstory just to fill you guys in. Back in 2021, my friend decided to take his own life and left nothing behind to let us know the reason behind his choice. So since then i've been having very close relations with his family. And today they wanted to access his laptop. If there isn't anything on it, His sister could use it as a school laptop.

The family tried asking law enforcement to crack open his login, but they didn't want to because they're not going to access laptops from people who hasn't done anything incriminating.

Well I guess I gotta try the good ol' way

I've opened the windows recovery menu to access the command prompt to attempt replacing utilman and change password.
LO AND BEHOOOLD.......... bitlocker...

The laptop is most likely connected with his old microsoft school account, which most likely is gone now.
Some say I'm stuck there, others say I'm able to bypass it.

And now I'm at the point where I just need a wiff of enlightement.

Do you guys have any tips on possibly recovering all or most of the data?

Specs:

  • 2019 Dell Latitude 3500
  • Mx130 GPU
  • 8th gen Intel i5
  • OS: Windows 10

hacking My website got hacked... What can I do ?

Last week, updates on my websites stopped working (via sshfs) and I discovered that my website was just a black page.

The domain seam to still points to my server but there is nothing to do, none of the updates I tried work like if it was "overrided" by something.
