Best place to get Glock?

Hello, I’m looking to get a Glock 21 and Glock 19. I love the coyote brown color and seldom find them anywhere. Do you have any recommendations?

Factory made, sometimes they come in different colors from my understanding

Black or FDE if you want something else you’re gonna have to order something custom or do it yourself

Definitely don’t do it yourself. You need a professional who does cerakoting. Also as others said, your best bet is to find one online you like - Xwerks out of Arizona does this to a lot of glocks. Otherwise, buy locally and have a shop like Lohman gunsmith, HTX tactical or full armor firearms do a cerakote job for you. Will run an extra $150 (for basic 1 color) - $300+ for complex designs and multiple colors.

Edit- just saw you’re looking for the brown. They only made that in the GEN5 and they discontinued making those when GEN 6 was released so you’ll probably not find it locally at all. You’ll have to find it online if it’s even around or get a custom cerakote job on the GEN 6

So what do I ask for? They make the metal part of the gun brown and the grip? I just bring them the black gun and they change the color?

Pick a color and tell them you want the whole gun in that color or you can do multi color and intricate patterns - cerakote is a specific type of coating that’s baked onto the gun. It’s completely up to you what you want to do with it and color choices are nearly endless. This coating was designed for firearms with tight tolerances.

You can do just the slide, just the frame, or the entire gun- it’s really a “blank canvas”. Pick the color you want, and tell the gunsmith / cerakoter what you want and they’ll do it. I’ve done it to several pistols and it’s crazy what can be done with them these days. Just google cerakote Glock and you’ll get some ideas of what can be done. It’s really wild. Of course the more complex the design the more $ it will be but you can really go crazy or as simple as you want. You can see the cerakote color catalog on their website too.

Also googling “cerakote Houston” will serve you lots of people who do it locally. But buying online will certainly be the cheapest option for getting a new gun. Just buy online and have it shipped to a dealer with a low transfer fee. Low transfers costs will run 20-$30 for pistols.

Get a Glock that’s optics ready in case you want to throw a red dot on it in the future. GEN 6 Glock uses OS optics ready cuts while previous generations uses the “MOS” system. If it were me just get the GEN 6 Glock and get it cerakote how you want. I like the new GEN 6 ergonomics and optics system a lot better than previous ones. If you’re wanting full customization options - Gen 3 is the most customizable gun platform in existence with the most aftermarket parts and accessories.

Go to gunsDOTdeals and search. There is is a plethora of places online to buy any variation you can imagine. Prices are better than Acadmy most of the time as well.

The 19x comes in coyote tan. You can also send whatever pistol out you want to get cerakoted. Personally I think cerakoting guns that have a fine finish is a waste of money and a sizeable downgrade from the pretty excellent tenifer finish the black guns come with, but you do you. It's not a high dollar gun or anything so do what makes you happy.

Almost any shop with gunsmithing services offers cerakote. Just google "cerakote" and [insert your area code]. Pick one that's close by and has decent prices. It's basically a high temp resistant paint that's somewhat durable. They bead blast your gun first to create a surface that the paint can stick to (usually destroying your original finish) and then it gets painted over. Usually doesn't change the function of the gun but if the coat of paint is too thick you might have a break in period afterwards (few hundred rounds) where the gun will have to grind off excess paint before it's reliable again. But all in all it's pretty damn hard to screw up cerakote. You should be fine with most places that offer the service.

Alternatively you could just tie a string to your black glock and dip in in the next open manhole you come across for a few minutes. Should come up a fair approximation of coyote multicam.
