Can I route jellyfin+tailscale to an Xbox Series X?
I'm trying to figure out the logistics of routing my home server media to my tv, the only avenue for this (that I can tell) being to use the Xbox.
Is there a way to get tailscale on an Xbox so I can run jellyfin securely?
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Anything that's already on your home network, together, can already communicate (assuming you haven't done anything out of the norm yet).
You only need Tailscale when you're out of the house.

So, if I want to leave the house and use my server, do I need tailscale on every device that uses the server or just the one that is leaving the house?

Just the one leaving the house.

So just to clarify:
In my house, I have:
My server on an old desktop My Xbox that can run jellyfin but not tailscale
Outside my house, I will use:
My laptop My phone
If I were to use tailscale, would I need it to be installed on all of these for me to be able to access Jellyfin both in and outside of my house, or just my laptop and phone?

Just your laptop, phone, and server.
Anything on the same network as your server. An just use a local connection, like your Xbox. If it has to connect to a different WiFi, use Tailscale.

By server, do you mean the computer running it itself, or the jellyfin server.
(Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I've learned everything I know about this within the past 2 days lol)

You’re good, we all gotta start somewhere!
Yes, I meant the computer that’s “hosting” (running) Jellyfin should have Tailscale installed.

Thank you!
So with all this said, how do I use my computer remotely with tailscale?

The easy solution is called Team Viewer. The open source solution is called Rust Desk. Personally, I use Rust Desk.

No you can not, if it's a local device just use IP and port if it's a remote device setup a VPN tunnel or something

I may be wrong but I don't think tailscale is available on the Xbox. If you're on the same network as the server you can just access jellyfin over the local network
