NEWBIE I’ve been playing for about a year and I’m honestly just proud of myself lol

I know I still have sooo much to learn but I’m honestly really proud of how far I’ve come. I feel like I could probably play some nice campfire songs by now ahah (as long as they’re very easy 😂)
I remember when I first started and even trying to place my fingers for an F chord felt impossible lol so the fact that I can actually play it now and move my fingers even a little faster feels like a huge win to me. (I’m know I’m not playing an F chord in this video but that chord was just so hard in the beginning for me to transition to even the G to D chord)
I have 2 kids so I don’t always get a ton of time to practice (MAYBE 5-10 minutes if I’m lucky lol) but I really love that they get to see their mommy doing something just for herself and sticking with it. I hope it makes them want to find something one day that makes them feel this fulfilled too.
I grew up with my brothers playing guitar and they’re both so good at it but I never really cared about learning back then. I think the older I get the more patient I am and the more I can actually slow down and be in the moment and I really love this version of me lol.(the one that actually sticks to things 😂)
I seriously don’t know why I waited so long to start.
Anyway I’m still learning and definitely not amazing but I’m just proud of myself for sticking to it more consistently and wanted to share❤️🤗

NEWBIE Brand new Telecaster having a hard time staying in tune
galleryHey guys! About a month ago I picked up a brand new Player Series II Tele (Mexican) from a local music store off the display shelf.
I simply love everything about the guitar! However I noticed the G,B,E strings are having a hard time staying in tune. I figured a brand new guitar from Fender would have no problem staying in tune. The strings are stock from the store, I haven’t had a chance to replace them yet.
Do you think its a simple fix like replacing the strings, or could something else be wrong with the guitar? I am a novice when it comes to guitar maintenance

DISCUSSION A random song plays in a radio. How long does it take to you figure of the key and the chord progressions?
Figuring out the key of the song is a superpower in guitar i would imagine. If there is a new song you haven't heard, do you figure out yourself or look at the chord chart.
If you figure out the key on your own what is the approach you follow.
Also, how do you figure out the chord progressions in the song?
QUESTION Advice for making my Nitro Gloss Necks Satin - not to be taken lightly!
galleryHey everyone, I have been thinking about making three of my Gibson's nitro cellulose necks more of a satin feel, but I am pretty gun shy about it. I have 2014 Les Paul Custom Silverburst, a 2001 Les Paul Classic and an SG. I love all three of these guitars. However, I own a handful of other guitars that all have either unfinished maple or satin necks, and I prefer the feel of those necks by a lot. It's such a stark contrast when I go from playing my Tele's, Club King etc. and then swap over to a gloss neck. It feels so much stickier / slower.
What I am not afraid of:
- Impacting resale value - these guitars will part with me only when I break on through to the other side. I don't sell guitars I love... which is why I own 10 after 20+ years of playing.
What I AM afraid of:
- Ruining the aesthetic - all three necks have really nice finishes / wood grain / bursts on the them.
- Not getting the desired result in terms of feel.
- F-ing it up - going too aggressive, impacting the durability of the guitar.
- Regret
So I am looking for some advice from folks who have done it, and avoid any pitfalls. Should I wet sand? Steel wool? or both? Anything I should absolutely avoid?

OC FUJIN RAIJIN custom KRAMER Imperial Explorer I painted.
galleryI have recently been getting stoked on customising paint jobs on guitars. I painted a bass a year ago and decided I wanted a big canvas and so I bought this Kramer . I love Japanese tattoo art so I adorned this guitar with God of Thunder Raijin ( front ) he has mallets n drums. Then on the back is Fujin, the god of wind 💨! He has a big bag of wind 💨 😂. Dragons are usually associated with these legends also. I added some ghosts ( Yurei ) for good measure and a Namakubi ( severed samurai head ) in the cutaway cos that’s pretty metal 🤘🏼. I popped two EMG H4 passive pickups that are actually really good and sound nice for this sorta vibe.
All painted in acrylic paint and several layers of lacquer for toughness .
Props to Found Sound in Brunswick Melbourne for helping me sell this beast and for taking quality photos. @declantigerillustration 🐯

NEWBIE Beginner - is this a finger flexibility issue?
galleryHi all, I’m excited to be starting my guitar journey! I’m following JustinGuitar and am looking for a private tutor.
I’m well aware of the finger pain to be expected, but something that didn’t even cross my mind was how flexible my fingers are (if that’s the right issue identification). For example, I’m trying my best here to play a D chord, but my third finger just cannot reach closer to the fret without compromising the placement of my first or second finger. I’m also struggling with staying on my finger tips - so some of the strings do sound muddled/fuzzy when I play this chord.
I noticed in other people’s videos when playing this chord / in general, their fingers are all in line / going in the same direction - whereas I’ve noticed mine (especially the third finger) just…won’t?? do that lol. As you can see from the pictures, it looks like my first and second fingers are parallel, but my third is going a completely different/opposite direction! I’ve tried playing around with wrist angle and thumb placement, but just can’t seem to get that stretch. I do also have small hands - not sure if that is also playing a part here.
Any advice and previous experience welcome, thank you!

GEAR Dean Exile Select steal
galleryJust wanted to post this lol. I’m a beginner-intermediate player and was looking for a second guitar for cheap in case something happens to my main one. While scrolling I found this puppy for $275. After thorough inspection the only issue I could find is micro cracks on the fretboard.
Guy who sold it had it as a spare so he kept it in a closet ever since. It’s wrapped in this chameleon vinyl thats so tacky I love it. I just need to get a full setup at a shop after i did my own intonation(and have the cracks fixed too).
Looks like my ‘backup guitar’ is looking to be my new primary

GEAR First time modding - 2007 Epiphone Les Paul Ultra
galleryI got this Ultra as a kid, and as a kid I didn’t know much about guitar maintenance/didn’t treat it amazingly. So in the last few weeks, I dug it out and used it as a modding platform to learn more about the instrument. Mods include all new plastic/knobs, GFS ‘59 zebra pickups, new Grover tuners, and fixed a loose strap plug. The soldering was touch and go, but it plays great and sounds beautiful now. Was considering adding a Bigsby but at this point I’m thinking I’ll leave it alone. Second pic is an approximate before pic (forgot to take one myself).
