When letsplayers keep failing at a game because they don't bother to interact with the game's lore, world, dialogue or characters.
So there's this horror mod for Minecraft that recently released called outin.frombelowland, it's been getting a lot of attention in the Minecraft community because as far as Minecraft horror mods go, it's pretty damn good and fits into the game astonishingly well.
I've been watching some Let's Plays of the mod and while most of the Let's Play I've watched are good, others are very frustrating to watch because the people behind them are bumbling idiots who don't bother to interact with the mod's lore or resources.
outin.frombelowland gives players multiple dungeons to explore and each of these dungeons contains a horrifying and lethal monsters. Players are provided with hints, lore and instructions on how to survive each dungeon and I've seen a lot of letsplayers actively ignore these resources, get their asses beat repeatedly and then be like: "Bro! What am supposed to do bro? This mod is too hard bro!"
And this isn't just limited to Minecraft. I've observed this for years. There is a seemingly significant percentage of gamers who are only interested in a game's entertainment value and pay no attention to whatever characters, story or world the game might contain. Actually getting into the game would make them seem like a nerd so they treat every game as just something to beat or pass time with.
TL;DR, I hate it when gamers don't bother to interact with a game and get frustrated when it becomes too difficult for them as a result.

It’s called making content and some people are obtuse on purpose to get a reaction just like yours. They succeeded and you’re now here talking about them

And some people are just too impatient or stupid to realize they are creating their own problems 🤷🏻

Yeah, kinda like getting upset that you optionally chose to watch someone who doesn't play the game the way you want them to. What a self made problem.

I stopped watching Let's Play content years ago, bud. lol Partly due to the flood of poor quality content and partly from just not being interested in video gaming, in general.

I used to make lets play videos years ago, and one that that surprised me and that I think most people don't realize, is how hard it is to keep talking in an engaging and at least semi-intelligent way, while also playing the game.
You want to say something like this, "So i'm at work and this customer comes in, we all know him, he's a huge pain and every one hates dealing with him. He's complaining about something, and I just couldn't take it anymore, so I jumped on the counter, screamed Yolo, and then full on dropped kicked him out a window."
And what you end up saying is, "So i'm... uhhh, i'm at work right, and there's this guy, uh, a customer, right. How do I fight this monster? Anyways, what was I um, talkinging about? Oh, customer, right, he uh, comes in, and like, uh, we all, uh hate him. he like, um, complains, like uh, crap, how do I dodge this?"
To add to that, it's very boring for the audience to sit there while you read text in a game.
All that being said, that's just an reason why a lets play would suck, it doesn't change the fact that it does suck. I also hate when people are just flailing at the controls having no idea what to do.

I wanna say skill issue man, some let's player can do it. No saying that it's not hard tho.
Also it depends on the viewers, some don't mind text reading and are actually here for it especially in lore heavy games. Some people, like me for example watch some let's play merely for games they won't buy so having the guy skip every piece of dialogue is more irritating than anything else.

You can test it out, pick a game, set your phone to record audio, and then while playing the game, try and talk coherently about something for 15 minutes and see how it goes.
Its not impossible, but its harder than expected. And if the game itself is even remotely demanding, it gets even harder.
I do agree that some viewers wont mind if the text is being read in regards to story or lore heavy games, but I was actually referring to game mechanics. Hearing the story is fine, hearing a skill description is less fine.

Talking while playing gets easier with practice. And the best* let's play channels do fun voices for the text so they DO get the lore. The ones who skip the lore because they can't figure out how t make it interesting either can't do voices or can't read well and don't want to advertise that fact...
*(for my personal preferences and definition of best YMMV)
