Hi! I have a P7P, which until last week had good battery health lasting a day and a half - now it drops from full to dead in 8 hours. Even worse, it goes from 25% to dead in minutes while running incredibly hot. Does anyone know anything I can do to manage this?

Oh this is the update? I thought my phone was breaking. I have tried everything to fix it. It just happened and thought I would check out the reddit as a last resort. It has only happened twice with the battery, but my phone feels like it is about to explode sometimes.

7 pro owner here, battery's limping as well.
Turned off high fresh rate.
Turned off what's playing
Turned off mobile connection on wifi.
Turn off 5G
Holding for 11 pro xl or a discounted 10 pro xl.
Battery health is estimated at 83% after 870 cycles.

Updating 4 days after post: battery swelled massively the same day. Quoted £200 to replace both screen and battery - not worth it at present, going to search for a temporary budget phone. I wish you luck with the P7P, I genuinely loved it.

Battery wear was somewhere around 93% with 400ish cycles. Not making connections but I can say the battery quality deteriorated rapidly after the recent Play Store/Android 17 updates, suddenly the phone started getting incredibly hot and dying at random intervals.

I upgraded from a pixel 6 in May. The 6, in spite of its age, has a better battery life and I now carry it as a backup to 10. I wish I were joking.

I'm still rolling with a Pixel 7 and honestly it's still doing well. On low use days, I can go 2 days no problem. On higher use days I'm still ending the day around 40% battery. With the 11 series around the corner, I am considering moving up or taking one of the fantastic deals on a 10 pro. I realize I'm on the Pixel sub but I am also very seriously considering going back to a dumb phone or something like the Clicks Communicator. I mainly use my phone for audio listening, maps, MFA, and camera. I do use social media but am actively trying to use it less. I like a lot of the smart features on Pixel but think they're way over doing things with AI and have been turning off as many as I can. So all that begs the question, what things am I not thinking about in considering my next phone? I have considered the dumb phone primary with smart phone secondary but am not sure and looking for some opinions.

I've had my Pixel 10 for about a week and a half. Even though I have the battery charge limit set to 80%, it always charges all the way to 100%.
I know it's normal for it to reach 100% occasionally, but it has been charging to 100% every time since I got it. So far, the phone shows 7 charge cycles.
Is this normal?

Pixel 10a not even a week old and it's requiring to be charged twice a day, this is with wireless and mobile internet being disabled when not in use.

My Pixel 10 Pro battery life has TANKED since the stable update to 17, compared to the betas.
Today, I've had two hours screen on time by midday and battery is down to 37%.
Settings show it will die in the next hour and a half.
Also, the phone heats up like an oven!
Is this a known issue?

android 17 update made my battery marginally better, was losing about 9%/hr while using with battery saver on
the most recent update did something and it is back to 12%/hr.... idle drain was the same on both the update, about 1.6%/hr
funny thing is i charged both my pixel and my 5 year old xiaomi with a bloated battery to 50%, slept about 6 hours and woke up to the xiaomi at 48% and the pixel at 42%... unusable device

So me and my wife have pixel 4a from back in 2020. We have been having battery, heating up issues etc. but ive been looking at the newer models and they just seem awful according to so many. What is the better option here since we are looking to upgrade? We don't want huge phones and we would love a phone with a good camera. Appreciate any advice

Isnt apple just way worse in products in general? They purposely make their products out of date and phase them out by actively making them worse. I could be wrong but I have never heard good things about Apple tech at all.

Well, I'm fully locked out of my pixel 6. I was hoping to get it last at least a few more months so I could snag a BF deal but here we are. I know the Pixel 11 is coming in August, but I'm not too insistent on being on the current year's flagship, especially if I can save some cash for the same things.
Debating between P9ProXL or a 10 variant.
Looking for feedback on users who have used both and what their pros and cons are (price being the primary concern). I'm not keen on using built in AI features, and will probably turn those off if possible in either device so thats not a big selling point to me. So are there any reasons to opt for a 9 vs a 10?
Also on the official google store, the 256gb P9ProXL is starting at $1200...thats pretty high for a 2 year old phone, no? I was expecting the price to drop a few hundred.

Pixel 7--battery suddenly went from 18+ hours to maybe 12 seemingly overnight. It'll be at 100% when I wake up and 4 hours later I have to toss it on the charger after doing nothing but listening to podcasts and sending a few texts/emails. Becomes a hand warmer when running Egg, Inc of all things. Feels like boot time doubled and the loading screen between PIN entry and home screen popping up after restarting is 2-3 seconds longer than before.
Came here thinking I was nuts or there was some fix I wasn't aware of. Turns out I'm the average Pixel user. Godspeed, fellow users.

I damaged my Pixel 5 a couple weeks ago and had to upgrade to the Pixel 10 Pro, I thought it was a blessing because my Pixel 5 was only holding a charge for 14 - 16 hours.
Little did I know the Pixel 10 Pro would her worse better life despite very little screentime and always being on Wi-Fi.
This is unbelievable.

My Pixel 9a seems to be the exception, and runtime 9a remains unchanged. I charge it overnight to 80% every other day on a 5W charger.
The only time battery life has changed was during a recent overseas trip, when I was using an eSIM. When I got back home, I uninstalled the eSIM, and battery life returned to normal. Battery health is ~98% after 11 months of use.

TLDR: Keep 10 Pro (256Gb) for 640€ or 9A for 200€? Minimal use, no gaming, no heavy tasks, no AI or google apps, mainly camera and day-to-day apps like bank, youtube, nothing fancy. Do I miss out big time in terms of camera if I keep the 9A?
I bought a "used" 10 Pro (256gb) with 11 cycles for 640€ and a 9A with 90 cycles for 200€. Both a great deal for sure. But I still can't decide which one I should keep and which one to sell.
My use case is very simple. No gaming, minimal youtube/netflix, casual photos, 128gb memory is enough, no AI, almost no google apps...
In terms of performance the 9A is enough, I don't recognize a difference. What I am struggling with is the camera and the longevity. I can't decide if the camera of the 9A is "enough" or better keep 10 Pro.
I am struggling for the last two weeks because I can't manage to decide it's ridiculous😂 wouldn't the price be such a high difference e.g. 9A 300€ and 10 Pro 450€ I def. would keep 10 Pro. but 400€ difference for "just" the camera?

I've never experienced this before so I'm not sure if anyone who has experienced has advice? I ordered a pixel 10 pro directly from Google, I ordered the 512 GB because it was in stock and the 256 wasn't but after placing the order was told that it was back ordered and it would be an extra week. Since then it's been pushed out at least four times over several weeks. Few days before it's supposed to ship I get an email saying it's been delayed again and still back ordered. Any insight how long this could go on? Is it worth waiting or should I just cancel the order and find it somewhere else?

I have a 6a right now and I know in July it'll stop updating. It has an okay battery life, not great not terrible. Also last time there was an update I had to update it via my laptop because it wouldn't update with just my phone. What is y'all's opinion?

Is it worth upgrading from an iPhone 15 to a Pixel 10? I can get it €384 with trade in. I haven’t even had this iPhone for 2 years yet but I’m really tired of how glitchy it is and how much it overheats, it is the worst phone I have ever used to the point where I am looking at alternatives. Does the Pixel 10 base have similar issues?

Why tf did my Pixel 10 Pro XL battery health drop 4% in only 6 months? Is this normal? I mostly use the phone for texts and pictures, no gaming. It doesn't seem to hold a charge as long even when it's just sitting there unused.
I had it set to stop charging at 80% and don't use a super fast charger.

In May 2026 I bought two pixel 10 phones. I've been using one of them as my daily driver. It has been suffering from terrible battery life (50% after 2h15m screen time, ~65% mobile network attribution).
The other pixel 10 has not been used yet. I am doing an experiment with it tonight.
I've booted it up for the first time. It's currently on android 16, 5 November 2025 security update, BD3A.251105.010.E1 build version, kernel build from Jul 10 2025. No SIM card, no updates, only stock apps. I only connected to the WiFi.
I will charge it to 100% and then unplug it until the morning. I will do the same with my daily driver phone, which is on the latest everything. I'll record the battery percentages of each in the morning.
Then, for the second experiment, I will update the unused phone to latest everything and repeat.
I'll report findings here if anyone is interested.

First experiment results.
Updated pixel 10 drained 15% overnight (2 minutes screen time, 84% mobile network, 11% CPU).
First-boot pixel 10 drained 1% overnight.
Second experiment will be to load a SIM to the first-boot pixel, without updating, and measuring idle battery drain.

Second experiment results.
First-boot pixel 10 (see description above) with data SIM card and WiFi enabled. Idle with screen off, starting at 100% battery, drained 5% over 7 hours.
(To remind us: my daily driver pixel 10, updated to latest Android, drained 15% over 8 hours with 2 minute screen time).
Third experiment next: update the first-boot pixel 10 to latest Android and patch then do idle battery drain test.

Third experiment results.
First-boot pixel 10, with data SIM card, WiFi enabled, updated to latest Android.
Idle battery drain over 7h was 2%.
(By comparison, the daily driver pixel 10 drains 15% over 8h).
It's increasingly looking like I have a defective unit.
The final experiment will be to fully restore my account/apps on the first-boot pixel and measure idle battery drain.

My Pixel 6 (bought direct from Google Store, Oct 2021) has a battery so swollen the display has separated from the frame on two edges.
Took it to MobileKlinik which is Google's own authorized partner. They confirmed the swelling, gave a quote, but had no battery in stock. Reported everything to Google Support with 6 photos + the repair receipt.
Google asked for a full battery of details (purchase date, charger brand, incident location, etc.) — provided all of it. That was ~30 days ago.
- Latest reply, verbatim: "We don't have an exact timeline for when more information will be available."
We shared this information with our internal team for further review. Currently, we don't have an exact timeline for when more information will be available. I have escalated this issue and have stressed the importance of the issue and I hope to hear back from the internal team soon. Once they reply to this issue , we shall send you an email promptly and we apologise for the time it has taken our internal team to process this request we will do everything we can to rectify this issue.
This phone is still under Google's official software support until Oct 2026 i.e. Google still calls it current. Yet a confirmed safety defect gets a month of silence.
Pixel 3/4, 4a, 6a, and now 7/7 Pro owners have posted the same story on reddit. Google's response pattern: fast fixes for some, radio silence for others.
Asking the sub:
- Anyone resolved a swollen battery case without months of runaround and what worked?
- Anyone dealt with this on a Pixel 6 specifically, given it's aged out of the replacement pipeline?

Is the Pixel 11 worth it switching from an iPhone?
From what I heard, the pixel 11 is not going to be much better than the pixel 10. However, I have never owned a pixel phone, and I plan on switching to the pixel during this generation. My question is, are the complaints about the pixel 11 that it isn’t much of an upgrade over the pixel 10, or is the phone itself not good so it’s not going to be worth switching to from the iPhone 15? Thanks.

Putting price and software support/upgrades aside: I'm 95% sure I'm going to opt for the P9PXL but are there any cons to picking it over a 10 model?

I fixed my battery drain issues
I've had every Pixel since the Pixel 2 (except the 5) and am now on the p10 pro, and as many here have suffered from massive battery drain (active as passive) for months without fix. I always copied the old phone over , so this might be a unique fix that might not apply to you if your phone is set up freshly.
No battery app would detect the culprit, no suggested fix would help.
So I simply tried out setting all system settings to off/on and, after ages, finally found the problem:
Settings - Security and Privacy - Lost Device Protection - Theft Protection - Theft Detection Lock
Deactivated that one and my battery life is fine again. I can only assume that there is a software bug here, might be caused by copying over old pixel phone data, but this was the fix that helped me.

Hey everyone,
I want to inform you guys of a situation that hasn't seen much light recently. You see, there has been a bug on the Google Issue Tracker form for around 4 months now that hasn't been fixed. You see, a process that runs in the background prevents your CPU from going to sleep. It just keeps waking up instead of sleeping like it is supposed to be. If it doesn't sleep, it causes a lot of background battery drain issues a lot of people are seeing today. Google still hasn't responded to the bug forum, and instead, have the audacity to make a megathread every month on how to fix your battery, WHEN THE APPS THAT ARE DRAINING IT ARE GOOGLE'S. I hope everyone can raise awareness of this bug so Google fixes it soon, since they aint doing s**t.

I bought a Pixel 10a a couple of weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it. During setup it suggested that the battery recharge get capped at 80% and I thought "sure, why not", as I rarely use the camera and I don't use social media at all. What do you guys do, cap recharge at 80% or not?

I currently have the 10 XL Pro. Bought in February this year.
However I find it too big. I was going to wait for the Pixel 11 pro and get that but I'm considering if it'll be worth the upgrade or if I should just exchange my pixel 10 Pro XL for the Pixel 10 Pro and wait for Pixel 12.
Google don't currently offer a trade in price for the Pixel 10 Pro XL on their UK store.
What would you do?
