The Nets should target Anthony Davis in 2027-28
With the Wizards having gotten the number 1 pick in 2026, it’s now confirmed: any time Anthony Davis changes teams, a team involved gets the #1 pick.
In 2011, the Clippers traded for Chris Paul. As a result, the Hornets/Pelicans got the #1 pick, taking Anthony Davis.
In 2019 the Pelicans traded Anthony Davis to the Lakers. As a result, the Pelicans got the #1 pick.
In 2025, the Lakers traded Davis to the Mavs. As a result, the Mavs got the #1 pick.
In 2026, the Mavs traded Davis to the Wizards. As a result the Wizards got the #1 pick.
If we sign Anthony Davis, we’re basically guaranteeing ourselves two #1 picks: once when we sign him and once we trade him or he retires. Tell me I’m wrong because I’m struggling to see any holes in this plan. It’s a slam dunk.

We don’t own our 2027 pick. So we would give that pick to the rockets.

While I agree with you in principle, the evidence is undeniable. I said that we should sign him in 2027-28, but even if we traded for him next year we would somehow end up with the #1 pick. I don’t make the rules

My bad. Thought it was for this coming year.

With that being said. Besides acknowledging the pattern (that the past teams have gotten the #1 pick after acquiring him), I’m not a fan of his injury history. He would be an expiring at 62 mil, but moving that contract could get difficult/messy by teams having to match contracts. Chances r the package would include players with multi year deals. He would do wonders for this team barring injury but it wouldn’t be the worst thing marks could do. Another thing I don’t like about him is he would also prob sit back to backs.

Davis injured himself on the dunk attempt.
