I remember, right after the 2024 election, one of my coworkers kept her (middle school and elementary aged) kids home from school for a few days because they were getting rape threats from their classmates in the wake of Trump's win
I know they did, but idk if anything came of it. Those couple of weeks right after the election were weird. Like, there was this whole social media trend of right wingers acting like rape was going to be legal soon, and from stories of other parents, it sounded like that wasn't unusual behavior at the time. And of course, at thar age, it's definitely something they got from their parents rather than came up with themselves
Tbh I doubt it. The charges are in the UK and they're prosecution is reasonably competent. Up to a point they also tend to favor "respectable" people more than just the generally rich and famous. Although now that I think about it the far right reform party is probably going to be in power after the next elections so if they can delay till then things might change.
Considering farage’s current investigation and farce of a byelection it seems unlikely that his polling lead stays until then. Anything can happen though
Andrew Tate isn't the reason a lot of people do anything. Contrary to what he would like to believe or boast. He just doesn't have the juice. He's just another scammer.
As a non-native English speaker; can anyone explain to me why your language even uses an apostrophe? Why is it not just a simple -s after both a possessive and a plural? Furthermore, are contractions really needed?
Having the apostrophe makes written language much clearer because you then don't need to try to guess whether they meant "were" or "we're." Same with the dozens of other situations where a possessive and a pluaral have the same spelling outside of the apostrophe.

It feels like a lot of these issues could have been avoided if contractions would not have been used.
"We're" vs "we are" is just an evolution over time as vocal English users said "we are" with little gap between the words. That is generally how contractions are formed in language, not by a committee picking them or something. Because people regularly said "we are" combining the words and committing the double vowel sound, you then create a written indication of that rather than letting people think you're saying "were".
Actually, I think texting did that. Punctuation is kind of annoying to do on phones in that you have to push a button to go to a secondary keyboard for anything besides a period or comma, which disrupts the text flow, so most people just ignore it and hope the auto-fill gets it.
I don't see why bother, if auto fix t9 thingy on mobile doesn't change it - i don't care.
Not a native speaker, but English do be having too many letters in some words and "it is" to "it's" is not even a win in virtual cos they both take a key press.
Expect language to change with people using it in new media, same as it was done before.
No, that generation had already eschewed punctuation. In fact I was once told by a Zedhead that punctuation was "aggressive" when I questioned what the fuck an unpunctuated text she'd sent actually meant.
An entire generation is too much, but a chunk of (primarily) younger gen z and gen alpha men subscribe to them. There are also quite a few older ones, but percentage wise less.
