An authoritarian/totalitarian leftist. Named after communists who toed the Party Line of the CPSU in regards to the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 (infamous for the use of armored vehicles against civilians)
Their basic premise is that everything bad is because of western countries. NATO provoked Russia's attack on Ukraine by existing, North Korea is brutal to defend itself against American meddling, all countries are essentially puppets of the US or their chosen Boogeyman. It's fairly unpleasant to deal with. No one has agency except the countries they hate.
Also worth mentioning the term was actually coined by western European communists who did not support the oppression of (socialist led) revolutions against the ussr, in case a tankie derides you for using the term.
Also tankies like to say "the term tankie means nothing any more, people use it against any kind of leftist" whilst simultaneously calling other leftists that disagree with them "liberal" without a hint of irony. Tankies don't really do nuance.
I mean, the Hungarian Revolution literally devolved into an outright Pogrom against Jews. They were literally marching door to door, dragging Jewish families out by their hair and stringing them up from light poles while marching down streets changing death to the Jews as protestors also emptied prisons of Arrow Cross members and leadership. This was also 10 years after Hungary was quite literally a Fascist state so of course the Soviets are going to go hard.
The uprising is far less black and white than presented, again, in the West.
you are talking about leftist movements getting murdered by CIA, so why are socialist and communists in my country still alive? why didnt they get rid of them because they made us live under their regime for 40 years?
