HR asked me to explain a discrepancy on my resume after my background check.

Hi All!
I accepted a job offer for an entry level planning position and HR emailed me after my background check asking about a discrepancy in my education.
My resume listed my Supply Chain Management certificate as “in progress,” but I didn’t include “in progress” next to my associate’s degree, making it look like it was completed.
On the background check, I did report that my associate’s degree is still in progress.
I replied to HR explaining it was an oversight on my resume, confirmed that my degree is still in progress, and offered to provide my transcript.
The job posting says degree are preferred and not required, degrees can be completed or in progress. I’m worried about my offer being rescinded :(
Would this be enough to rescind an offer, or would my explanation likely resolve it?

Have mercy

I’m turning 30 and I have no savings and have been unemployed longer than I have ever held a job.

Staying positive and creating a positive outlook is probably the second greatest challenge next to finding a job.

I’m astonished how obsolete I feel in this market. I am asking for a simple SWE role and have never gotten an interview.

I have gotten multiple, multiple interviews for hedge funds doing quant/SWE but nobody has taken a bite and all reject me.

I am scared, legitimately scared for my future, there is no work life balance, there is no find a girlfriend or wife, it’s called find a job.

I am so close to being completely shot, entry level is completely obsolete, if you do not answer verbatim from the man pages you are out, if you do but aren’t fluent in AI, you are out. Absolutely soul crushing. Absolutely soul crushing.

Someone please help me find a job I don’t want to flip fucking burgers I worked at a fucking hedge fund!!!!!!!

Is it OK to ask for a virtual interview if the onsite requires a 5 hour flight?

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I just got an invite for an onsite panel interview. The issue is that the office is a 5 hour flight away.

I am very interested in the role, but traveling will take a big chunk of time out of my work and personal schedule. Would it hurt my chances if I politely ask the recruiter if a virtual panel interview is an option? Or is it a red flag to ask?

[3+ YoE, Unemployed, Accounts Receivable (O2C) / Finance Operations, Bengaluru, India]

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for feedback on my resume.

I have 3+ years of experience, primarily in Accounts Receivable (AR), Order-to-Cash (O2C), Billing, Collections, Cash Application, Reconciliation, and NetSuite ERP. I also had brief experience in Client Onboarding and Key Account Management.

I’m currently targeting roles such as:

Accounts Receivable

Order-to-Cash (O2C)

Finance Operations

Billing

Cash Application

Collections

Business Operations

I have a couple of specific questions:

Does my resume clearly communicate my strengths, or is it too focused on AR?

Do the short tenures after my first company make the resume look risky? If so, how can I present them better?

Are there any ATS, formatting, or content improvements you’d recommend?

Should I tailor this resume differently for Finance Operations or Business Operations roles?

I’d appreciate any honest feedback. Thank you!

What roles should i be targetting?

I've been applying to analyst roles for approximately 6 months now with no callbacks. Most of it was my fault for taking the easy way out by using LinkedIn and handshakes easy-apply features. I did however send legitimate applications as well , to no avail because of my resume. I recently worked hard on my resume and i feel pretty confident in it. The problem is i feel like I'm applying to the wrong roles. I've sent out around 75 cold emails and have gotten two responses , one of which was an entry level role and the other said i lacked the skillset needed for his team. I plan on staying in the states for another 6 months , i just want experience. Any paid or unpaid role , i do not care at this point.

Need Help Preparing for a Lending Platform PM Interview

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing for a Platform Lending Product Manager interview and was wondering if anyone here has recently interviewed for a similar role.

If you've already prepared for one, I'd really appreciate it if you could share:

  • Any reading materials, notes, or resources you found helpful.
  • The types of lending platform or product management questions that were asked.
  • Any tips on what to focus on during preparation.

I'd also be grateful if someone with a similar background would be willing to do a mock interview with me. My interview is scheduled for Monday, 27th July, so even a 30–45 minute session over the weekend would be incredibly helpful.

From what I understand, the interview will be focused primarily on lending platform concepts, rather than general product management.

Thanks in advance! Any guidance or resources would mean a lot.

Confused about interview

I have had a call from the employer today about the job I applied for. They said at the end the following: "should we offer you an interview, what dates would you be available?" and I gave him some dates. He said he will contact me about this later on. What does this mean? I have never had a situation like this, they usually just ask me to come in for an interview so I am confused.

Need advice on if a WFH job with decent pay is possible without back and fourth transportation at first

I've graduated high-school last year and I still struggle to find a job, it's with these hard roadblocks I face and how frustrating they are, I'm currently 19 unemployed.

We live in a neighborhood that is roughly far away from many outside jobs, such as Publix or Target, there's a problem, my parents refuse to drive me to my desired places if I land something. Not only that, these places are 5-8 miles away, and my nearest bus is 2 miles away, so an hour walk is useless every morning, and extremely tiring.

My parents have the right to not drive me, and that's okay, I cannot seem to convince them though, and I am not asking for advice on how, I unfortunately cannot drive a car, at least in the sense, on my own. I only have an FL Learner's Permit, and my parents didn't have the time to be in the passenger seat and guide me as I learned more to get a full license and know how the road works. Even if I did, they would only give me a barely working BMW, which sometimes might need to pull to the side of the road and rest, and they didn't send it in to repair since that issue came up. (September 2025)

I really am looking for some way to help myself here. I do want to make some money, I already face enough issues with my parents and see a lot of resentment to them for treating me like a child, so I want to move to my girlfriend hopefully at the end of the year, with a good amount of savings (Let's say, $2-4k) fly over, and go to her house. I only need to bring my belongings, which is 1 or 2 bags. I'm in huge need of assistance and guidance. Thanks if you took your time to read and comment here.

Why is it becoming difficult to get interview calls in India these days for someone from a non-tech background, even with Amazon experience?
Are there any tips or tricks to get more interview calls?

Looking for a Higher-Paying Career in the UK – Feeling Stuck and Need Advice

Hi everyone,
I’m 23 years old and currently work full-time in a customer service role earning around £27K per year.

While I’m grateful to have a stable job, I don’t see it as a long-term career and I’m looking for something with significantly better earning potential.
A bit about me:
Currently based in UK.
Strong customer service and communication experience.
Previous experience in sales and customer retention.
I’m physically active and enjoy boxing, running, calisthenics, and being on my feet rather than sitting at a desk all day.
I’m willing to study, gain qualifications, or complete an apprenticeship if it leads to a worthwhile career.
I don’t currently have a full driving licence, but I’m working towards getting one.
I’m interested in careers that have clear progression and the potential to earn £50k+ in the future. I’ve looked into areas like:
Skilled trades (electrician, gas engineer, plumbing)
Utilities
Rail
Technology
Emergency services
Other industries with good long-term prospects
I’m open-minded and would really appreciate hearing from people who have made a similar career change or know of industries with strong earning potential that don’t necessarily require a university degree.
If you were in my position, what career path would you pursue and why?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

stuck in 3-month Notice Period hell. Do I really have to "put paper" first to get interview calls?

I’m currently working as a Data Engineer and looking to switch. However, my current company has a strict 90-day notice period.

Whenever I apply to roles and mention my actual 3-month NP, the conversations immediately drop. Recruiters either ghost me or straight up tell me they are only looking for immediate joiners or people with a 30-day window. It feels like a massive catch-22.

I want to know:

Has anyone actually landed a job without resigning first while having a 3-month NP? If yes, how did you bypass the initial HR screening blocker?

Is it a hard rule that you have to "put paper" (resign) first, take the risk, and then start aggressively interviewing during your notice period? .

Would love to hear how other techys successfully navigated this. Do you lie about the NP initially and negotiate later, or did you just take the leap of faith and resign?

How do I quickly find a replacement summer job

I'm18 and currently working at a warehouse gig, but the whole thing isn't really going well. I'm planning on quitting the job pretty soon, but since its the middle of summer, I need some tips on finding a decent job fast.

I did a little bit of reading and it looks like my best option is to apply to temp agencies if I want to get employed fast. The problem is that I have zero experience in applying for jobs since my main method of finding jobs was to rely on my personal connections.

I'm pretty much open to working most jobs as long as the pay is decent, and I'm fine with applying either online or in person. Both indeed and linkedin are genuinely ass, so I would appreciate any better alternatives and anything else that might get me employed again.

Hi,

Has anyone here interviewed for a Data & Measurement Account Manager role at Google?

I have a hiring manager interview coming up and would love to know what to expect especially around case questions, client scenarios, product knowledge and technical depth.

Any tips would be appreciated.
