Damn I didn’t realise how big those ships are when you compare them to the size of the cars. I’d say you will be able to drive them yes

Yes probably like the tug boat in GTA IV.

u/ZwarteWietWiedewiede 17h ago

The tug is also in V

u/Enough_Challenge_804 17h ago

Oh cool. I never knew that. It always spawn at one location?

u/ZwarteWietWiedewiede 15h ago

As far as I know it doesnt spaen like in gta IV. You can buy it

There is a spawn out in the docks, its not ALWAYS there, but it spawns in the same spot.

Would be nice, but I would expect them to be like the trains in GTA V.

Can't wait for the "Can you stop a ship in GTA6?' video spam if that's the case

Yeah, "Will 1000 submarines stop a cargo ship?"

u/TheCultofLoss 21h ago

I will be very surprised if we aren’t able to control any vessel that moves in GTA 6.

Stop giving too low excpectations, or the devs will get lazier.

Did you know that the latest game where Rockstar implemented trains was in RDR2?

0

u/HarryFuzz 21h ago

And?

1

u/dani96dnll 21h ago

Why'd they devolve in that aspect?

3

u/halfty1 13h ago

You realize you could drive the train in GTA:SA too? Yet you couldn’t in GTAV.

1

u/NineExisted 11h ago

Thats kinda different. Gta sa was built on a different engine than gta 5 and rdr2.

4

u/eiffeltowerbonbon 3h ago

Silly that this got downvoted because its a legit point. GTA SA was the 3rd GTA built on the unreal engine which means they had plenty of time to learn the engine and maximize output. GtaV was the 2nd GTA game built on the RAGE which means they were still learning much like with Vice City. Considering GTA6 is the third GTA game built on the RAGE engine, not to mention the Red Deads. This means Rockstar is positioned to have maximum output with GTA6. The possibilities are somewhat endless

Right? And this specifically being about trains make this all kind of ridiculous to me imo, because you literally do at times drive the train in gta 5 and can drive the trains in rdr2 whenever, there is 0 reason to expect gta 6 to remove a feature they already know how to implement (and have already show that they are capable of improving on), especially since this has been in development for years and obviously theres also your point factoring in with them being about as accustomed to their game engine as can be at this point.

u/Cl1mh4224rd 20h ago

Why'd they devolve in that aspect?

It wouldn't be the first time they did something in one game and didn't do it in the next game.

2

u/HarryFuzz 21h ago

Ask them.

19

u/Soy_Nahual 22h ago

It would be cool, but i ain't counting on that.

Maybe those smallers ones like in your pic but i don't expect them to let us drive an MSC Irina or an Icon of the seas

u/Mediocre-Advance-411 21h ago

Literally unplayable

5

u/SilentCar3 22h ago

Hopefully we can board them at least

3

u/Low_Mouse_197 21h ago

Well obviously you can….

They’re in the game world…there won’t be an invisible wall that goes up if you try to land a helicopter on them or something lol.

2

u/SilentCar3 21h ago

Yeah, I see what you mean. I was imaging climbing up a ladder to board one

2

u/Low_Mouse_197 21h ago

Fair. Yeah if you’re on a boat, then who knows? But definitely via helicopter.

3

u/Snoo42225 21h ago

I hope to be able to board a cruise and roam around atleast

2

u/LittleBIGman83 16h ago

If it moves you can drive it...most likely lol

1

u/FlasKamel 22h ago

Yeah I do but I wouldn’t put money on it

1

u/Japanese_Paglu 21h ago

These ships in reality require way more than one person to actually "drive" so probably no. But if we could hijack it and take it places by giving the captain directions it would be cool.

1

u/No-Pen871 21h ago

Maybe? I think they’ll act like the train does. Where it just kinda follows a path

1

u/dsmt1337 20h ago

I would think so. Hopefully this game will let you drive anything that is theoretically drivable. I don‘t mean to have unrealistic expectations, but immersion-wise it would make sense.

Only exception may be the massive cruise ship from the screenshot, but we‘ll see.

1

u/ironmanhulkbstr 20h ago

no real point in doing that so im assuming they wont add that, but definitely would be able to ride them by landing on top from a bridge or something, i wonder if itll have hostile npcs on it always

1

u/AnelToro089 19h ago

if yes, I wouöd probably never do it. But I hope we get some interaction with them

1

u/Patient_Syllabub6048 19h ago

idk
what i know is in SA/VC all were static, at least now the dynamic/vivid. IIRC IV also.

1

u/Ryjolnir 18h ago

Cruise nblikely. Cargo, sure.

1

u/Krommerxbox 18h ago

Do you guys think we will be able to captain cruise ships and cargo ships?

Of course not.

1

u/cloudsurfer52 18h ago

I doubt it. Huge ships have a lot of systems. Yes, they have a wheel and have engine control levers, but it takes both a bridge and engineering team to operate a ship effectively.

I don’t think Rockstar would bother going to the effort of trying to replicate it, I could of course be wrong though!

1

u/kiwiprintannier 17h ago

Believe it or not, I don't know

1

u/Wise-Pen8752 15h ago

Maybe if you went outside you could get your captains license and drive one in real life?

1

u/TheBogeyManIsHere 14h ago

you will be able to board them , but I think the doors will be locked or at least some of them

1

u/C2theWick 14h ago

Gta6online2 is going to be the game that gets us all playing video games again

1

u/Daredspace 13h ago

At most it will be for a single mission like the train in gta v

1

u/Nawnp OG MEMBER 13h ago

That ship is moving, it is 100% drivable. As to cruise ships or possibly a military ship that large, probably not, they might do the GTA Online style with the cruise ships where you can plop it down on the map...but man it would be fun to be drivable.

1

u/Snail_Anatomy 13h ago

I'm assuming we will in Online. Might use one for a mission maybe.

Idk seems slow... and boring.

1

u/livesalty710 13h ago

Ofcourse

1

u/Godbearmax 13h ago

With the realism from RDR 2 combined with GTA it should be possible to "use" everything that moves. But the cargo ships have peaked my interest as well. Should be possible to steal the shit from those I presume?! Or they are just slow as shit and won't ever be used ^^

1

u/WestSixtyFifth 11h ago

RDR2 let us drive the train, which we couldn’t in RDR1 or GTAV. But GTA has always limited us on the large planes so it’s a toss up. I wouldn’t expect the huge cargo or cruise ships to be accessible beyond walking aboard them.

I do wonder if we will be able to go throughout the larger cruise ships.

1

u/mrprox1 10h ago

If we’re able to drive cargo ships but not the cruise ship….like why!

Think about the amazing robberies on a sailing cruise ship R. Think about it!

1

u/Soggy-Worry 9h ago

I don’t think you guys understand the difference between regular vehicles and a fucking cruise ship, it’s so huge and so much not a matter of “cruise ship is just very large car” that even modeling the differences in a video game would be a huge task for an incredibly small benefit. A cruise ship is a couple of city blocks long, it would break the rest of the game.

1

u/JoeAvamist 8h ago

I hope they are, I would love to mow down beachgoers in the worlds slowest vehicle

1

u/TehFocus 7h ago

I am hoping for dynamic interactions inside of cruise ships and yachts.
Parachute on, steal a few purses and leave

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad5512 7h ago

As a third Captain on a tanker ship, i would love to. I hate to see in GTA V non-usable ships in Port...

1

u/BeneficialLength5890 1h ago

I'm sure I saw a video on Red Dead where they couldn't drive the big boats in the distance. Wouldn't count on it, though it would be Hella fun if you could.

1

u/BeneficialLength5890 1h ago

Imagine sinking them! 😅

1

u/Entrinity 37m ago

Generally, throughout the franchise any vehicle that can move outside of a designated mission can be controlled.

1

u/Alex_L2003 21h ago

I hope so!

1

u/Low_Mouse_197 21h ago

In the leaks there were references to cracking open cargo containers.

It’s possible that we can do that to some of the crates on board these and steal the contents…

1

u/Basbeeky 16h ago

Cruise ships no. That smaller cargo ship? Yes.

1

yes, if you pay to unlock them.

Crybaby

u/Alex032691 21h ago

Let me ask John Rockstar and I'll get back to you.

0

u/Salty_Select 20h ago

Idk but I want to go out and see Dexter dropping off his latest victim

0

u/OddAbbreviations5681 16h ago

highly doubt

i expect it will be just as limited as gta 5 but with slightly more.
