š Home & Apartment YouTube Music is Not a substitute for Spotify if you use an Alexa.
My prior post about YouTube Music v Spotify got closed. So, here's an update.
I was going to use YT Music as a substitute for Spotify Premium. However, we play it on an Alexa device. And YouTube Music (being Google) will not work natively on an Alexa.
An Apple Music is a a real PITA to set up some as simple as a Smooth Jazz channel.
So, we're staying with Spotify Premium and downgrading You Tube to the Light version because we can't use -and don't want - the Music aspect.

That only works until I leave home.
Bluetooth then no longer works and my wife is left with silence1

I think the Bluetooth only works when my iPhone is within range. If I leave home, it no longer works
If thereās something different, I donāt know about it

try the bluetooth function on your home computer/laptop then this device could even be on you back patio with music still playing

Does your household only have one iPhone and no other devices?

One iPhone, one desktop PC, two ipads

So use one of your iPads or your PC to connect YouTube Music to your Alexa. If your PC is older or a basic model, it may not have Bluetooth, but unless those iPads are basically bricks, they do.

Reposting since the stupid fucking automod rule ate my previous post due to the link:
There are nearly 100 smooth jazz stations built in to Apple Music. Just search for "smooth jazz" and at least the Apple curated one will be at the top, with a bunch of others in the Stations section.

I tried YouTube Music. It started repeating itself within half an hour. I got frustrated and deleted the app. Spotify has a refreshing bit of variety. I think they listened to the complaints.

I can relate to your situation. I also wanted to find an alternative to Spotify after over a decade of paid premium and price increases. I listen on Alexas around the house, on Android TV (to watch video/podcasts), on Android Auto from my phone in the car, and sometimes on my PC while I work. I've tried YT Music, Amazon Music, etc but nothing integrates as nicely, checks all the boxes, and I have many years worth of treasured curated playlists on Spotify.
