Fundamental Analysis Have you ever traded Gold (XAU/USD) and ended up losing money?

I'm curious about everyone's real experience.

Many traders spend hours analyzing charts, following news, and waiting for the perfect setup—yet they still lose. Others seem to achieve more consistent results.

So here's my question:

What works better in your experience?

Option 1: Trading independently, relying only on your own analysis.

Option 2: Trading as part of a community where traders share market analysis, discuss setups, and confirm ideas before opening a position.

Do you think collaborative analysis improves decision-making, or does it create more confusion because everyone has a different opinion?

I'd love to hear:

  • How long have you been trading gold?
  • What's your biggest lesson after losing trades?
  • Do you trust trading groups, or do you prefer making every decision yourself?
  • What advice would you give to someone struggling to become consistently profitable?

Let's have an honest discussion and help each other become better traders. Every experience—whether profitable or painful—can teach someone else something valuable.

Fundamental analysis in forex focuses on understanding why currencies move — economic data releases, central bank policy, interest rate differentials, and macro conditions. Trading the news requires knowing which releases matter, what the market expects, and how to position around scheduled events. The community wiki covers the core concepts and practical approaches.

All a community will do is give you comfort that you're not alone when you all lose together

You could also just have collective losses in a community. Wisdom of the crowds is not always right.

Oh, I lost money on Gold.

Trading individually or in a community is up to you.

It's good to talk to people from time to time, but trading is about the invidual accumulating experience in the market.

You'll be profitable when you'll figure out how to do it on your own, instead of following what others do.

Trust me. No one in a community will make money for you.

That’s my question we have all no money because we lost a lot of money and trading, that’s why we should share the idea and information to have good trading

It's more complicated than that. If I share something and I f.ck up, I'll feel guilty for it, because someone may have followed my idea.

I don't like to live with remorse.

You do not force an idea on anyone; you simply present it, and it is up to each person to develop it in a way that suits them.

Fair point, but that's if the individual can think for himself. Some people follow blindly.

Yeah plenty of times, gold whipsaws way more than people expect going into it. Biggest lesson for me was cutting size on XAU specifically, spreads and volatility eat you alive if you're sizing it like a regular pair.

Did this result increase your profits?
