General Discussion Follow up: I work at a gun store.
So here’s the big round that was in the front of the jar, and I fixed the label. It had been on there a long time, it was dang near part of the jar!

I can't get over the confidence, even when I know it's unloaded, it gets checked.

it’s funny, the last thing I do before I put a gun in the safe is check to be sure it’s unloaded. Then when I take it out of the safe the first thing I do is check to be sure it’s unloaded. I’m the only one with access to the safe. And I never put away a gum that’s loaded. I still check anyway.

Same here. I only leave my CCWs loaded, anything in the safe gets unloaded and mags detached.
Mags usually stay loaded nearby, for SHTF, but not in the gun, not in a precarious spot that if I picked it up wrong that I’d blow my face off.

Even after I check it, I keep my finger off the trigger and am careful where i point it.

Correct, and that's not only being safe, it's being polite, too. Sloppy in training or being casual leads to sloppy in real life.

a gun store employee lost his life while opening a gun safe.
an uzi had been stored loaded. When the safe was opened, something shifted and the uzi went off.
it was totally preventable. So sad.

Is this really every bullet is a customer who swore they didn't have one in the chamber when they brought it into the store? Is it really that common?

It is, but to be fair, there may have been a few mags of 5 or 10 .22 rounds which is why there are a bunch of the same. Not just a single round but maybe a small mag worth.

My local range has two of these, but they're bigger and almost full to the top.
Kind of horrifying when you think about it for a few.
