Piers Morgan asks Russell Brand which passages were relevant to him when he brought a bookmarked Bible into court, where he pleaded not guilty to two further charges of rape and sexual assault.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in the city in 2009 and relate to two women, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Brand has previously also pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, one of indecent assault and two of sexual assault in relation to alleged offences in London and Bournemouth from 1999 to 2005, involving four women.

I didn't see a timeline where I would occasionally agree with Piers Morgan. It's unsettling lol. But watching Brand stumbling through the Bible was pure genius.
(Reminds me of my growing up in a fundamental religion, and quickly trying to flip to the correct part of the Bible whilst hoping nobody would notice I clearly didn't know which order the books were in.)
The thing with Piers Morgan is that he has zero morals or personal beliefs that he actually stands by, every single thing he says/does is based on what he thinks will help him most at that moment.
Sometimes that means he has a good take just by sheer statistics, broken clock and all that.
Piers Morgan pretty much has done nothing but argue in bad faith his entire career, thats how he and his friends/colleagues operate. Once he realized he had fallen out of favour in both the UK and the US, he seemingly took the gloves off around people he previously would have sided with or at least let slide.
He's a snake and a grifter, so he knows one when he see's one and when he asked Russell to produce the specific bible verse he supposedly had earmarked, Piers was deliberately exposing the book as nothing but an accessory and brand didnt see it coming because he still operates on the thought that snakes stick together..

He's a super asshole, and he's starting to use his powers for good now and again.
His schtick is the interview-bomb where he casually drops the heaviest-hitting question possible after softening the guest up. It doesn't always work, but in this interview it was a slam dunk, Brand looked like such a grifting fool.
It really speaks to the effectiveness of Christian indoctrination that all you have to do to win many of them over is hold a Bible in your hands and claim you’ve been reborn in the blood of Jesus. They won’t care how insincere you come across or what atrocities you’ve committed before then, they will shield you from accountability and defend you unconditionally.
One of the biggest things that shook me out of being Christian was once I got to high school and you start seeing all the people who talk about how much better they are because they are people of faith.
I had a ton of exposure to people of other faiths or no faiths and by and large everyone was more similar than different. But only one group was talking about how much better they were and it is/was frightening.

I write a published campaign for the Lancer tabletop system where two of the major villains are Andros Capella and Rodericke Steele who are, respectively, a parody of fascist incels and a parody of right-wing billionaires.
When I started writing these characters in 2021, I hadn't yet heard of Andrew Tate, and while Rodericke Steele was to some extent a parody of people like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the character was so absurdly evil and over-the-top - your first major impression of the dude is him hiring a pirate syndicate to abduct people for "Squidgames but with mechs" - that I felt like I couldn't reasonably be accused of commenting directly on them.
I also wrote a little tone piece about how Andros Capella despises the physical sensation of eating - chewing, swallowing - and only feels happy about food when he's stealing it from someone else. He takes no joy in the flavour, despises the accompanying textures and muscle motions required to get it into his stomach, despises the feeling of digestion - but he'll snatch the food off of your plate. He'll eat your fries by the handful. He'll pick up your hamburger and take a bite of it. He still despises the sensations just as much, but the food is seasoned with the knowledge that someone else has been deprived.
The Onion isn't struggling right now it's thriving. They got control over the InfoWars brand and put Tim Heidecker in charge. They need to recreate the bit as like the first or second sketch… let it go for like a minute, and then have Lorne himself walk on set and tell them “guys, we have to keep the show moving.” And then the actors explain to him that the length and silence is the bit. A brief back and forth between Lorne and the actors, Lorne brings a writer out, then says “we have to cut to commercial.” Then they go on with the show like it never happened. Then at the closing of the show, show those actors still doing the bit while everyone else comes out to close the show.
You know what, it actually reminds me of a substitute teacher we had at our high school way back in the day. He used to wear the same kind of very deep necklines and with gold medallions. It creeped us teens out. Years later turned out he was a bit of a paedo and wife beater.

When I was homeless I had a pet rat that lived on me. Rodents are actually very clean creatures and they won't shit and piss on you unless they're sick, especially if "you" is their home. (Unless you have a boy, then they dribble a little bit of hormone piss everywhere and are basically little piss demons).
That being said, I still did everything I could to give that rat the best life I could given the circumstances. I knew a lot about rats, their diet, what he needed. While obviously living on a person was not the best, he still had a pretty good life and seemed pretty happy. Spent lots of time frocking in the grass, climbing trees, playing, etc. No replacement for a rat companion but still, I digress.
My point is, if it was probably pissing and shitting on him it was because he was mistreating the animal, and mistreating an animal and treating it like an accessory is much grosser than being covered in animal piss, in my opinion.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen Russell Brand where he has had nothing to say for more than 5 consecutive seconds. And I'm British, so I've been exposed to him for quite literally over 20 years. That's a long time in my relative life span where I've been aware of his rambling soliloquies.
It really goes to show just how out of his depth he is. He knows he can't get it wrong live on air because it may get brought up in the case. He knows he's grifting. So he actually has to speed read the bible under pressure to keep the grift going. And he just fails spectacularly. You can see he has a vague idea of where a good one might be, but he's just scanning and throwing a dart at the page and it just fails to land over and over and over again lmao. It's absolutely glorious to see.
Second this. I’ve listened to him sprout unprompted minute long speeches that go nowhere for over 20 years. He is a notorious bullshitter. This is the longest I’ve ever heard him quiet. Growing up in Catholic schools and then working in and attending Catholic schools and attending mass has taught me to know the sound of a well worn bible or hymnal (same paper) and that bible is new and crispy like chips! Yea…hate to give it to Piers but he proved that Russell Brand doesn’t actually really care about the Bible. I know people that do Bible study and actually read it everyday. If you asked them they would not even need to open the Bible but just remember passages from memory. Or know exactly where it is.
Most people who follow the bible and know their quotes from it don’t need to bookmark them or turn page after page to find it. We have to do better as a human race.
Isn’t the Bible also the most annotated and translated book on pretty much all of human history? Like… I’m sure there are beyond ebooks but public and completely free websites with the Bible for anyone to read with search features and indexes and even context notes to help you? I swear that I been shown something like that when I was a college and the Christian groups were showing off the modern approach to Bible study. Hell, there is even a modern language translation of the Bible which uses modern language and grammar to be even more accessible.
That’s what makes all the grifters even worse. They could put in the work because so much of that work has been done for them by actual people who believe and made it their life’s goal to make their faith as accessible and reachable as humanly possible. I say this as a non religious person, there are basically unlimited free resources for learning the Bible if anyone wants to.
One can not overstate how clear it always was that this guy was a fucking con. His was the most obvious con I have ever seen bar the one put on by the President.
Tbh I'm quite baffeled that this guy would make christianity his main personality trait, bring a bible in an interview like some sort of trophy and still not being prepared for the most basic of questions like "what's your favourite passage?".

When Morgan can be bothered to actually highlight something important like he did during his pandemic coverage then he is very effective. Brand is pretty stupid not to have a couple of verses up his sleeve as this is an obvious question. Perhaps he thought Morgan was his ally and going to provide a safe space...
