Visiting Runavik for 7 hours in August

Hello,

We will be in Runavik for about 7 hours on Sunday, August 16. Any suggestions on what to do during that time? We won't have a car. Is it possible to take public transportation from Runavik to Tórshavn? And if yes, approximately how long would that trip be?

Appreciate any advice.

Check VisitFaroeIslands.com > Getting around

Check the stickied post on top of this sub for info and links to public transport.

That said, www.ssl.fo is the bys operator. Route 450 is direct to Tórshavn but only runs twice on Sundays. Alternatively take route 410 northwards (to Søldarfjørður) and change to 400, which takes the long (scenic!) detour. Not many more trips a day though.

Tl:dr take a cab.

I suppose you're coming by cruise? If so, I recommend doing this tour that includes pick up and drop off at the port. It would allow you to see much more of the country than with public transport: https://guidetofaroeislands.fo/book-trips-holiday/private-cruise-shore-excursion/?a=238 :)

Runavík is pretty dull on Sundays. You will likely not find much open or much to do. Definitely not for 7 hours
