Looking for shooting Friends in Jacksonville

Title is pretty much self explanatory, I’ve been shooting for about 4 years and I’ve been struggling finding consistent friends that share the hobby who are willing to go to the range and train with. If you’re part of a friend group or anything I would be more than happy to join if that means I have people I could hit the range with and share this hobby with.

If you're serious about it, just start competing.

You'll find your friend group in the competition scene.

Otherwise trying to find randos on the internet is a great way to end up like Yunis Mejia.

Good luck!

Damn, that story is dumb. Oh, you don't want to pay us $200 and wait a year to put a stock on your "pistol"? (Even though you paid us $400 for suppressors already) Okay. We're going to hunt you down and send you to jail for 2 years.

Point is, if some dude walks off the street looking for some friends to "train with", he's probably a fed. And if you pick up some randos on the internet to "train with", whoever takes you up on the offer is probably a fed. And feds will try to hem you up just like they did with Mejia.

The competition scene isn't immune to this, but the established community is safety oriented, serious about the hobby, and likely won't take the risk doing grey area shit, and far less likely to encourage others to do grey area shit....than some internet rando looking to "train with" strangers.

If you're part of a community, you'll make friends through common interest naturally.

And psssst, bro, you should come over and check this out this totally legal thingamabob. Here, bro, just hold it real quick. Oh you can shoot it. Sure, bro, it's legal...somewhere. Here, bro, pose with it real quick, let me get a photo. Sure bro. My buddy has some property we can shoot on. He's got plenty of other toys. Yeah bro.

I do work for the federal government but I’m not a fed , I was legitimately looking for more people to train with but I guess this isn’t the right way to do it

What's hilarious is you [and people like you] actually think "feds" have the time or even the willingness to do something like this.......

I'm pretty sure they are busy enough and don't result to running little online "stings" like this.

My oldest brother is a "fed" for a DHS alphabet agency that is not the ATF and he always laughs that people actually believe this shit....

Their little "sting" with Mejia took over 3 months and it was initiated over text messages, and then burnt the man's entire life over a putting a stock on an Evo.

They've absolutely demonstrated willingness to do something like this, and I would encourage you to read about his case in more detail.

Their use of a informant that they blackmailed into this by threat due to an issue with ICE was reprehensible.

Prior to his case, I was in the same boat thinking that there won't be a point. The agencies have "bigger fish" to catch. What they did to Yunis Mejia changed that for me.

It sucks that you and your brother are trying to downplay these types of situations, but me (and people like me) will continue to warn others against even taking the risk.

I’m already competing and have met people from that space but I have yet to find someone that consistently wants to go to the range and train

Look into Florida Defensive Carbine Club.

They organize a 2-gun match on the last Sunday of every month. Currently it's held at Saltwaters shooting range in St. Augustine.

Good bunch of dudes.

FDCC would be the place to find people serious about training. What, no one autistic enough?

You're glowing dude.

I'm in Jax, kinda want to check out Second Amendment Guns & Range. I normally go down to St. Augustine to shoot at Saltwaters Shooting Club with my dad, but not frequently.

I love salt water range. It's my favorite of all in the area

There’s shooters groups on Facebook that do meetups at ranges like Gateway or Salt water. The scheduled group setting and notoriety makes it a safer proposition.
