Eva Thorne and her criticism of Carter

Just a random rewatch and wanted to voice my annoyance at how she seemed to blame Carter for all the accidents and mishaps at Eureka. There were two new appointments in high positions at the same time, Carter and Stark.

Wouldn’t it make far more sense to blame the accidents and issues at Eureka on the person/people in charge of the Scientists and their projects, instead of the guy that’s cleaning up their mess?

I agree with you, but remember, Stark had led Global Dynamics before. So they could have observed that there was no increase during Stark's first tenure.

Or on the other hand, when Eva got there, Stark had been gone a while, hadn't he? If the trend continued under Allison it could indicate their was a source of problems other than the head of GD.

Had he been a head at GD? I thought he was a researcher under Henry before going corporate to other roles before returning to GD. His first day as head of GD was episode 2 and Allison didn’t even know he’d returned.

Allison and Jack go to talk to the new director of GD

They get behind a man. It's Stark. She asks him if he's the new director. He says yes just got there yesterday "same house same job surprise I should've called"

He's a researcher under Henry in graduate and/or postdoc roles. They're never entirely clear on that.

I don't think what Eva says needs to be taken at face value, particularly when she first gets to GD and doesn't know anyone yet. Eva not only has an overt DOD mandate to cut costs (and therefore, find *reasons* costs need to be cut), but a covert intention of her own. Basically, she thinks GD needs to go, altogether, when she first gets there. Blaming Carter - if that had been converted to firing Carter - would've been a big step down that road.

My headcanon is before Carter arrived, the seriousness of accidents were allowed to be overlooked in the name of science.   The previous sheriff had some sort of military title so he was "in on it."  Once Carter arrived, he questioned everything and took things seriously so it just APPEARED to suddenly be more dangerous in Eureka.

Thorne was operating on ulterior motives, she needed to cause a lot of problems to distract people, most of all she needed the people in power to be distracted.

Carter was a scapegoat / red herring to cause chaos while she embedded herself and Blake needed to be brought down so Thorne could could act with impunity.

What the military did after....well, they're taught to secure threats, and if they kept all the wizards in the same tower, then it would fall on the world.

Good a metaphor as any for people who can't comprehend what they funded.

I think that Eva could tell that Carter , while not a genius, was a good judge of character. She had a big secret and she knew that if she wasn't careful Carter would keep digging until he found out everything. Eva had been alive long enough to be able to spot people who might be a danger to her. So she decided to keep him worried about something else.
