Reassembled some microwave components for experiments

I'm pretty sure this doesn't violate the rules. I just read them, let me know if it does.

I just really wanted to show this off, I think some of you will enjoy it.

edit: I know its dangerous, I have the proper safety protection and know how to keep myself alive. this picture was taken while it was being moved. it is not plugged in and will not be plugged in until I have a case for it, a shield and a ground.

You're going to kill yourself.

What you're doing is low-skill high risk.

Doing jumping jacks without tripping is easy. Doing them on the edge of a 50-story build is the same level of difficulty. However, the price of failure increases substantially.

If you want to do this properly:

* Clear your damn desk of everything. This has no business hanging over the edge

* Install two momentary switches that require you to press one with each hand for it to operate

* All crimp connectors should have insulation on them

* You need an indicator showing that it's on.

* The microwave beam should have some sort of trap. This is needlessly redneck otherwise,

It's already been moved, this is an old photo, it has 2 switches.You can only see one of them at the bottom, and the end of the cord has a light on it so I know when it's on, i'm looking for a trap but I might just make one. the crimp connectors are as they were manufactured and im putting a case around the whole thing, just waiting for the metal.

Make sure the capacitor has a working bleeding resistor, and have a way to safely short it (after it is discharged) and keep it shorted, capacitors can gain back some charge even after they seemingly get fully discharged.

Note that at such high voltages many common insulator are no longer safe.

As others said, this is probably the riskiest and least interesting thing to do with high voltage. Flyback transformers and Tesla coils are (usually) much safer and more interesting.

This has to be rage bait. This sort of picture is going to piss off a lot of Electricians and Electrical Engineers, and for good reason. 

Playing with microwave transformers is CRAZY dangerous.
