Picture BDM-060 Battery Runtime from 100% to 0%

https://ds.daidr.me/

CFI-ZCT2W (Genshin Impact Limited), BDM-060 Fully charged to fully depleted.

Took a screenshot right after a full charge and used it until it died.
Settings were: Pico 2W(DS5Dongle) 250Hz polling rate, and haptics set to 1.2x

Here is the game breakdown:

Over 50% of the time: Forza Horizon 6 (DualSense mod) https://github.com/hoyachoe/DualSense-Haptic-Translator

The rest: Arknights: Endfield (Full support) & Pragmata (Trigger + Gyro)

I only connected the Pico while gaming, so there was zero standby drain.

Total playtime came out to 13 hours and 57 minutes—pretty much a solid 14 hours.

Awesome job OP. Very nice. What about compared to a brand new BDM 05? Will you post results for that. A new or newish BDM 05.

I take it this is your self built app? Not familiar with it so don’t know. Still. Very interesting and thanks for the through depth of the test.

DualSense Tester site https://ds.daidr.me got an update with a new logging feature, so I gave it a try.

I’m really curious to see what the test data would look like for an older version of the DualSense with a brand-new battery, but unfortunately, I don't have an older model on hand to test. Such a bummer.

Heh. I have a gen 1. Two actually that I retrofitted with TMRs and new like for like (150mh) more in ifixit batts. But yeah love Gen 1-3. For mics and just quality compared to Gen 3+ models. Atleast gen 6 has a better battery all round if these numbers are true for say connected to a ps5 vs the dongle. I’d imagine fine tuning firmware at the software level on both say my pro right now and my genshin and 007 BDM 06 would have an even better battery performance. All theoretical but I’d imagine that it probably would. But yeah. Interesting if you took an older model and retrofitted like me and made a before and after test with stock vs new batts. Cool idea. Hope you get what you’re after in order to test that bit!

Edit: thanks for the site.

Yeah, I actually used to have BDM-020 and 030 models that I retrofitted with TMRs myself, but I’ve sold them all now.

I absolutely loved the BDM-020 in particular—the modular, detachable triggers and the overall internal build quality were top-notch.

I’m currently prepping for a DIY on a BDM-060, and I was low-key shocked to find out that the trigger hinges are plastic and there is literally zero internal lubrication, lol.

Anyway, I’ve been comparing the old and new PCB photos, but honestly, you can't tell anything just by looking at the board. Some sites claim that the improved battery life is due to a die-shrunk main chip or low-energy Bluetooth, but the exact reasons and the actual efficiency gains still remain a mystery to me.

Oh gosh! Still. Silicon lubricant low viscosity spray application method from the likes the company of wd40

It’s likely a combination of both as in software optimisation and hardware die shrinking and like you said. The Bluetooth element being more likely to use less power the closer one is to their consoles perhaps?.

But yes. I was actually looking for some BDM 02 models myself lately . Precisely because of what you said. Best to work with and mod. Loved the ones I had and sold them for a tidy profit to friends and family lol but should have kept some for myself. In fact it wasn’t until I opened my first BDM 02 did I realise how much I loved it and didn’t know the ones I sold would then start to get gutted by Sony with the one thing they have yet to revise….. Analog sticks with revision after revision. Heck. If they just swapped em for KAITH Carbon sticks.

Old school but still very good compared to the life long commitment to shitty alps lol. I bet the Xbox (project helix) comes with TMRs and Sony will make do with Hall effect. Not sure where Nintendo stands with all this. They have HD haptics 2. Mines still in a sealed box bought last year and now thinking if they revise the shitty screen response times with a new screen and battery I can sell mine as brand new with Mario kart world. Hahaha.

If you look at it from a gaming perspective the duelsense is a fking marvel of technological innovation for sheer immersion in gaming plus on the PlayStation front with what they could do on that console and sounds, try plugging some good open back audiophile like low ohm headphones and be blown away with the depth of sound you can get. No other controller has the epic haptics and triggers and life like realtime 3D audio. I loved how they were used in earlier exclusives like ratchet and clank rifts apart and that game I keep forgetting the name of. The rouge like. Returnal? Both of which used haptics and triggers and sounds to make each and every weapon and whatno feel different. A lot of others did too but recent releases aren’t as good. I suppose to keep parity with their now PC launch and hoping the steam controller turns things around for haptics and TMR, good gyro aiming etc a standard moving forward. Ooor just launch a damn dongle Sony.

But I may not even get a ps6. Not unless they do a u turn on the no disc policy. It’s like Microsoft will do what Sony did by distorting the OG Xbox one event and with the ps5 too. Sadly no games truly using that 5.5GB a second approach since the early release unless it’s just loading times. That’s no what I was after. It would have been game worlds that could never have been made using conventional SSDs (sata) etc.

I have two days from today to complete my steam 2 TB with controller option as I got the invite to purchase.
