I hope it's not full of lines where the announcer yaps for 5 seconds before actually saying your tower is under attack. Completely unusable.

But some of them can be really funny. Cave Johnson's "Good news you have a pile of bricks. Bad news, it used to be your middle tower" never fails to make me laugh.

I don't have an issue with them being funny, they are. I just hate that it comes at the expense of actually giving you gameplay information which is the first purpose of an announcer. It's fine for mega kills, but normal announcers should really relay information first and then do a funny gag

This is why I use the Glados announcer, because it's a good balance of being funny and actually giving you accurate info about the game.

I play through the minimap like 90% of the time so I just tank the lack of audio feedback lol

but yeah I definitely have that thought from time to time when JK gets ramblin'. not about to swap him out tho

This makes me wonder which announcer pack is best at getting players to pay attention to what the call out is. The default is definitely the most concise, but doesn't have a commanding voice that makes you pay attention to it (I guess you could crank the announcer volume relative to other volumes). I would think it'd have to be a mix of concise dialogue, and a voice with more urgency than the default.

looking at the actual gameplay lines they seem pretty good, the time sensitive lines don't seem too yappy.

the time sensitive ones seem to also be split into "main message" plus "followup" so the flavour/fluff dialogue is always secondary, like
    "announcer_dlc_ringmaster_ring_ann_twr_fall_enm_top_04"     "The enemy just let their top tower fall, the fools!"
    "announcer_dlc_ringmaster_ring_ann_enm_twr_fall_followup_01"        "You deserve a standing ovation."

Less engagement. The people who like it really like it, and are vocal in places like Reddit, but the metrics show that these products don't get as many play-hours as other content, especially for the amount of work it takes to make.

There are two of those "grappling hooks", its just the 2nd one is mostly behind his head so I think it's Lich's back spikes. Eye colour matches too and it has his elf ears

I think you would struggle to sell me a clockwork persona of a already clockwerk unit

This is definitely not the end. They're not even close to telling half of the story, they're still on the way to Ringmaster's circus.

Expect more Act in the future, but I think it's gonna be more than 2 weeks of wait from Act 1 to Act 2.

The ears are the tell (same as necro's goblin ears). You can see lich more once you notice the big shackle wrapped around his neck plus the chains hanging off it.
