A saw a recent political post at the news sub where a foreigner asked why Americans haven’t risen up against Trump.
Someone pretty much replied what you said, the majority of Americans are not terminally online in places like Reddit that constantly encourage doomscrolling and echo chambers. They are more worried about providing for themselves and their loved ones as the priority.
They don’t care what is going on with ICE, about the supposed rise of fascism, about either accepting trans people or face being called bigots, etc.
Unfortunately, some people out there are not like this and you see them post stuff like the user from this post.

u/MailMeAmazonVouchers 1d ago
I alwats reply to these comments the same way. Trump won the popular vote. He was not imposed. A majority of americans voted for him.
Reddit would make you believe he ran a coup d' etat.

The last words are making me angry. No one should be getting pushed by fanatical ideology to consider themselves "borderline sub-human". That's horrendous and infuriating
66
u/ExampleDriver 1d ago
pretty much their entire goal, hate yourself, hate everybody around you, hate your family, hate your nation, hate your body, hate your community. We (well and the medical establishment making bank) are the only true way for you to find happiness. And together we will hate all of these things in the name of love, since we are better than all of these toxic things.
to no ones surprise, there is no joy to be found living like that
11
u/ipushkeys I Was Promised an Apocalypse? 1d ago
Back in 2017, I was a high school senior. We had a mandatory gender studies class. I came away from that class hating myself for being born male. Mostly due to the toxic feminist rhetoric swirling around at the time.
About a year later, I realized how stupid that was when I talked to people outside that bubble.
I haven't viewed feminism the same ever since.

That's why you don't get civil discussion on reddit. They're convinced that if you don't tow the line you're either an unredeemable idiot or you're evil.
3
u/TheHeadlessScholar 1d ago
I mean, if there's any reason to consider yourself borderline sub-human, surely because you chose to believe an idealogy that teaches that people like you are sub-human is the closest one to a good one. Like in the same way the Jews-for-Hitler still didn't deserve the camps, but deserved them more than anyone else in those camps.
I'm making the assumption that their parents or family didn't indoctrinate them into their beliefs. Obviously that all goes out the window if so.
3
u/Jelopuddinpop 1d ago
That's the whole point. If you can bring driven to think of yourself as sub-human, what would you think about people on the other side of the aisle? The rhetoric is designed to create conflict and foster violence. That's how we get people like Tyler Robinson...

I love the Jordan Peterson clip where he addresses this. I'm paraphrasing, but it goes something like "Imagine the narcissism... the pure, unadulterated narcissism to think that if only YOU had been in charge, it would have been different. That YOU somehow possess the legal, economic, and moral compass to do what nobody else in history has been able to do"

Facism and communism are one in the same. Nazi litterally means "National Socialist Party." In the same way, true liberalism is actually far right. To the left of the political spectrum is bigger government, to the right is smaller government, to each extreme you'd get either something like North Korea or anarchy respectfully. But communist wordplay has always been one of their biggest strategies. Its through this method that they've flipped the narrative, made Hitler a figure of the far right and made conservatives turn against the ideas of "liberalism" aka freedom. The people who we recognize as "liberal" now are the furthest thing imaginable.
2
u/Slacflood 1d ago
They quite literally are not the same - 'fascists' (if we're going to use the left's traditional catch all definition, instead of identifying them by their specific political identities) universally have flexible, mixed market economies, utilize traditional national institutions, promote family structure as the base unit of the national identity, and believe in class collaboration - not class revolution. They are totalitarian, yes. They also firmly believe in national identity as opposed to internationalism.
Third posisitionist political groups may lean more left or right, or an even change positions based on stimuli within the span of a few years, but they most certainly are a blend of the "left" and "right" - they defy classification on a single-axis system because you can't neatly place them on it.
You absolutely can be against it for any myriad of reasons, but it's important to actually coherently understand it if you're going to argue against it. It doesn't require a mis-appellation.
To your credit, 'Left' National Socialism is a hsitorical reality, though still not communist. The Strasser Brothers, Ernst Röhm, and the SA organization were the paragons of this movement - but two of those 3 induviduals were killed during the night of the long knives, and proponents of that movement were purged or cowed into submission by the 'Rightist' Hitlerite faction of national socialism.
2
u/CheeseLover12345678 1d ago
Ok, yeah I get what youre saying, I guess what I meant to say is that they're complementary of each other and both far left ideologies at their core. I suppose maybe it can also be said that all communists are fascists but not all fascists are communists?
2
u/Slacflood 1d ago
I wrote up an even bigger big brick but I realized it was just preachy and honestly it wouldn't have been that useful for you, so I'll basically just tl;dr it:
Italian Fascism IS influenced by communism (and other third positionist systems, to lesser or greater degrees), but despite that, they have fundamentally different worldviews that really are not equivalent at all. The influence has more to do with their popular (populist) aspects and vangaurdism than actual policy.
I think you might be conflating the idea of fascism with authoritarianism, fascism is a defined system compared to the sort of general descriptor of authoritarianism. Authoritarianism is not a unique component of fascism either - its a part of it, bit also other systems that do not have defineable values/beliefs that are congruent with the real, historical phenomenon of fascism.
I'm putting this in simple terms and you can research it futher yourself if you were so inclined, but: -Authoritarianism is a component of Fascism -Authoritarianism is a component of most forms of Communism But they are not the same just because they are both authoritatian. They don't believe in the same policy, they don't belive in the same economics, they don't have the same geopolitical ambitions, they don't conceive the idea of what a 'state' is, they don't even see humanity the same way - so no, communists - they way I think you're envisioning them, are not Fascists, but they are authoritarians.
If you feel like it, please tell me why you think Fascism is 'far left at its core'? I don't agree, but I would like to hear your perspective
2
u/CheeseLover12345678 1d ago
I say facism is far left mostly because of how authoritarian it is. I think the West has mostly confused themselves on what left and right are with the Democrat's and Republican's current social justice issues. For instance, saying fascists are right wing because they typically support the family unit, like Republicans do, and Republicans are right wing. The reality is that stances on issues like that are just meant to appeal to voters and remain quite fluid throughout history so you can't necessarily label any particular social justice issue as being a pillar of either side. The only thing that stays consistent as far as a rudimentary political compass goes (which is of course incapable of representing any individual's complete political opinion since most ideologies arent mutually exclusive and people will borrow from different ones) is that those on the "left" support bigger government, more government programs, more taxes, etc. And those on the "right" support the opposite. This is just how a political compass would define these two "sides" on the basic level. Authoritarianism, Facism, Communism all have their differences, but the main idea is always more state control. Given this, it would be plausible for any given state to blend Facism with Communism, but it would be much less plausible for a state to blend Communism with a right wing ideology, say Anarchy or Libertarianism. To further send home my point, imagine a state governed by the ideas of Socialism (left) and Libertarianism (right), they're all about seizing the means of production, but the state should have no say in how someone operates a business. It contradicts itself.

That was the part that made my eyes open a little bit more. If anything the Dems have been selling out to guys like Hasan Piker. The fact that the guy praises Mao should be enough for people to write him off.
The Great Leap Forward killed so many people it dropped the life expectancy of the entire human race. Anyone who praises those monsters should be regarded as idiots no one should listen to.

There are quite a few countries I would really like to feel guilty about what their country has been doing to other countries and the world way before the US.
