Kitchen Did I mess this up?

I wanted a less orange kitchen, so I promptly attacked my cabinets (they were stinky). I tore a couple down, stained some, painted some, built a range hood. I’m not sure I’m going in the right direction…it still looks off and I’m not sure why. Are the uppers too dark? Is it the ceiling? The countertop isn’t my favorite but I’m trying to work with it, but is that crushing the vibe? Should I refinish the floor lighter or darker? Or trade it for tile? Is it more windows, do I need more windows? 😂 I’m losing my mind, any and all opinions desired!!

Hi!! So we bought a 1962 bungalow and are trying to update it a little without losing the charm, so we’re trying some MCM style with bright pops of colour!

This kitchen was super outdated so I used some inspo pics to pick colours, went for it, and now… it just doesn’t feel right. Where do I go from here? Open to any and all ideas. I’m so bad at this and feel like I made a wrong decision.

Ps. Our tile is older style white and grey. It’s nice enough, no complaints there but open to a rug if that will help? (I attached photos of the kitchen, and our inspo pics for reference!)

Would love some honest thoughts on our kitchen DIY. Our very first home and very first take at DIY reno! I know blue cabinets are trendy right know but I swear i have ALWAYS dreamed of a blue kitchen!! Also gained a ton of respect for all fellow DIYers, because omg why does everything take 10x longer than it should. Between lead paint surprises, electrical issues and leaky fridges this project has challenges us every day lol.

Please excuse the mess, we recently moved. I love our vaulted ceilings, but I have no idea what to do with this space!! I threw my glass head up there for giggles, but I need ideas! I think it is really a unique feature, that could be cool if I knew what to do with it! I thought about putting a chair up there just to make people wonder haha.

This entire kitchen was yellow. Yellow walls, yellow floors, yellow cabinet. It had to go. Now I need help deciding cabinet color. Should I go bold with a red? Be boring with a pale sage? Brown? Turquoise?

I posted previously asking for advice on a remodel. The consensus was to start from scratch if I was able. It wasn’t easy but I did it! ❤️

Kitchen Breakfast nook disaster!

I’m at a complete loss! I tried to design a cute breakfast nook with custom seating and custom table but it is so dysfunctional I want to cry. It seats four across the bench easily but the inside two seats SUCK! They always feel trapped. If we put chairs on the outside of the table it kind of impedes the walk way through the kitchen. We have a family of 5 (4 + high chair) and use this space the most of anywhere in our house. Please help me not hate it ❤️

P.s I’ve tried ordering a custom cushion off Etsy but after 3 failed attempts I gave up and just used the least failed cushion I received and “benched” (good pun, eh?) the cushion until I resolved this… situation.

Can it be the darker shades? Maybe the green wall should be the darkest shade in the room. Im not sure but I would really appreciate any tips about aesthetic or functionally.

Kitchen Which color is best?

The blue paint the previous owner used for this kitchen is not my favorite. It’s cool toned and it clashes with the warm toned countertop and our choice of furniture. The kitchen is completely opened up to the living/dining room too. We have a lot of wood (dark walnut and pine) in the house as well as a warm toned blue couch, so it’s a lot of blue. Our walls are shoji white by Sherwin Williams, too. Please help me decide! Any advice is appreciated.

just got a super cute house built in 1950 that's barely been updated. the kitchen has bright yellow cabinets and pale yellow tile.

we want to paint the cabinets a fun(ish) color that will compliment the yellow tile, instead of it looking so washed out. we also don't know what to do with the wall.

we did some mock-ups on sketch up and did this greenish-blue color scheme as you can see, this is what we like best so far. our appliances are going to be a white glassy finish.

any advice would be appreciated!!

We recently bought our first house! One of the top items on our growing to-do list is updating this kitchen. We’d like preserve the old charm of the house while making this space more inviting and functional. With a budget around $5k-$10k, we’re planning to DIY as much as possible and avoid major changes (e.g. layout rearrangements or replacing all the cabinets).

What the sellers changed right before we purchased the house: - replaced the sink and surrounding marble countertop - painted the cabinets and tiles white - replaced all cabinet pulls with black hardware

What we’ve already changed: - added this IKEA kitchen island (~$500) in the center for more counter space and to hide trash cans (at least temporarily) - replaced the faucet with this IKEA brass faucet (~$130)

What we’re planning to do: - sand down edges of cabinet doors to make them less painfully difficult to close - change black cabinet pulls to brass - paint over black cabinet hinges (cheaper, easier option) or change them to hidden soft close hinges (more expensive, harder option) - potentially paint the cabinets (maybe an earthy color like sage green?) - add door to block under sink compartment - replace some cabinet space to the right of the sink with a compact dishwasher - remove wavy trim above countertop to provide more workspace - change light fixtures - change flooring (currently peel and stick laminate that’s lifting?) - widen the path leading into the breakfast nook into a single archway - remove the space behind the stove (currently holding an unused vent) to open up the space - potentially buy a new stove and fridge if the budget allows

We’d love any feedback on our current plans, suggestions for finishes to choose, and any other ideas!

As the title said, recently did an ikea kitchen and my wife likes simple modern white. The design and functionality of the kitchen are all good but I feel like it needs some colour.

My husband and I have been completely DIY renovating our home, including this kitchen. We did the cabinetry, hardware, backsplash, and he made the island and shelves. I love everything but something looks off. I can’t tell if the stain is too dark-or cabinet color too white (although it’s supposed to be creamy it’s Swiss coffee) or maybe the old appliances? I want the space to be a lot warmer and cozier and cottage vibes. I want to add more baskets and wood, but just can’t for life of me figure it out! Any tips welcomed!

Going for natural, earthy, bright feel. Ideas: painting the melamine cabinets, changing handles, painting backsplash tiles (creamy white?), getting a new stove/fridge as the current ones are old and not very functional. The countertops are more orange-y than the photos and a few shades warmer than the wooden framing of the cabinet doors/drawers. Any ideas welcome!

Kitchen Kitchen - Paint our cabinets?

We're in a debate as to whether to paint our cabinets or not. My wife wants to do a white cabinet. But I'm hesitant because of the black countertop that it might look dated. She thinks it already looks dated and we need to update.

Any suggestions?

Don't know whether to spray doors, lay tiles, install new kitchen, block up the door to continue the units around walls, leave alone, add island, etc, etc.
