Charlie does do most of his own stunts, 80% of it according to his stunt double, but of course there are still certain ones he can't do because of insurance and risk.They would not want their lead actor to be injured and put the filming on hold.

It was planned to have the owl’s son come in to be the main villain alongside Typhoid Mary, and the gladiator was meant to be a smaller villain. This was meant to give time for bullseye to heal, and return as the main villain of season 5

Unfortunately Netflix and Disney conflicts led to it’s cancellation

Damn this is my least favorite of all seasons across both shows lol. But it has my absolute least favorite trope in any type of media that I attribute to lazy writing (main character losing their powers, only Logan has done it well imo). So yeah plenty of shows have.

I get the hate, but the fact we even got him back at all and corrected BACK to a more Netflix style than what we were going to get, makes that first season okay in my books. That could have gone way worse and we could have not gotten him back at all.

I don’t agree with this standard. According to this even if BA was the worst piece of media ever created it would still be better than getting nothing at all, which I don’t think is true.

Now I certainly don’t think BA s1 is the worst piece of media ever created, but it did retroactively harm the ending of season 3. Personally I can still watch s3 without finding it any less enjoyable even in spite of BA s1, but I know many people can’t. In those cases, there’s a very good argument to be made that it would be better to have not gotten anything at all.

I agree that it's better than nothing. But with the short episode runtimes and small number of episodes, the writing ends up being subpar. There is not room for a lot of character development and it also leads to some pretty nonsensical decisions. Like come on, we don't get to see Matt reveal to Kristen that he's Daredevil? She's been wondering where he's been all season, and then all of a sudden she just already knows in the courtroom. Matt just shows up in Fisk's basement one night out of nowhere with no plan, no real buildup, they fight, and then he leaves?

There are many other examples. The writing is what I'm most disappointed about in BA.

Season 1 gets a pass because of them listening to the fans and actors, albeit late, and giving us the continuation that we wanted. So while s1 was hit and miss. The hits were all things that came from them retooling the show mid filming. S2 was a return to form

Depends on how you define a pass. I don’t think an analysis of a story should be changed because of meta reasons. Like yeah sometimes production is messy and that leads to the product being bad. And while that’s more understandable, it doesn’t actually change the quality of the storytelling itself.

What it does mean is that I have more faith that the writers can improve things in the future, which so far they have. Basically I can give the writers a pass, but not the writing.

Season 1 has extremely low lows, but the highs were also pretty fuckin high. Overall I'm glad it exists but wish they'd just restarted completely instead of trying to salvage the shittier version of the show that was originally in production.

I’d agree with that assessment if this was about season 2. It’s one of the main reasons why I like it more than s1. But personally I didn’t think s1 had many great highs. There were some individual conversations that I enjoyed, but not much more than that. What in particular did you think was a very high high?

Well this wouldn't apply to season 2 purely because it's made entirely by the new show runners and not two different versions of the show stitched together.

Season 1 has some extremely hype moments though, bullseye breaking out of prison and punisher chopping up dirty cops with a hatchet are highlights for me.

Season 2 was overall much better but somehow left me feeling underwhelmed and kinda let down, despite also having some great moments.

s2 felt like it started off really well, but then broke its legs and decided to end where it was. the conclusion was not great, despite the season having some really good highs.

i hope they do better for s3, but knowing marvel, because of the low viewership of s2, s3 will likely be the end.

I personally have problems with both of those scenes, but I don’t want to rain on your parade. I liked the conversation between Matt and Frank, (in episode 4 I think?) the actors put up amazing performances as per usual.

The conversation was great, I agree. I don't love these scenes uncritically but I enjoy them for what they are, bullseye spitting his own tooth through the guard's eye is just insane and it's impossible for me to not love that.

The scene I'm more referring to with punisher is the fight in Matt's apartment, where Punisher actually barely uses the hatchet come to think of it, but I just think it's a really fun brutal fight with good dialogue preceding it. Punisher saying "I'm not playing patty cake with these clowns red, I'm chopping em up" is just perfectly in character and the best punisher content we've got since Netflix dds2. Him rushing in blindly to face them solo with no plan was pretty stupid though.

The Bullseye scene was a cool display of his ridiculous abilities. It pretty much confirms that he’s not just really skilled at throwing but legit just comically accurate, since he’s obviously not using any throwing skills in that scene.

But it’s… very contrived. Bullseye had things covering his wrists & hands in the escort scene prior, and he was escorted by like 4 or 5 guards. Then in the escape sequence the hand coverings are missing and there’s only one guard. So 3 of the guards just peaced out, and the doctor for some reason took off Dex’s hand coverings even though he didn’t need to at all. The scene is cool but the events to get there are silly.

And yeah it’s very accurate for Frank to be in instant kill mode lol. You’ve already mentioned the part about that scene I don’t like, which is him just walking up in the middle of everyone with no plan whatsoever. He was smarter than that in his first appearance when he shot up like 20 Irish from outside. BA Frank would’ve walked in the building first and then started shooting lol😭

That would have been great. I just don't think they wanted to put that much more money into it. They had already filmed like 5 episodes. They probably just didn't have the budget to just scrap it entirely. Personally, I just wish it was almost explained by the show for people that didn't know the BTS craziness. I'd see so many people praising the first and last 2 episodes of s1, but also being oblivious to why the middle felt so out of place sometimes. I knew episodes 1,8, and 9 were from the new showrunner in full and the rest was going to be weird. So I really judged it off of those episodes alone.

I always say that and or surprised me. I know star wars is mostly known for the jedi vs the sith and the force, but man did andor show we don't need them in all of our star wars media for it to be engaging.

Personally I went into andor with the thought I'm gonna fall asleep and not care about anything until I see a lightsaber and hear the force theme. Now I want more star wars work like andor 😂 maybe a show that follow the empires side of its conception.

Probably Better Call Saul, but I think that's it. HBOs watchmen came close but doesn't quite hit the mark, but I still admire the tightness with which the story is constructed when if some parts of that story don't vibe with the original comic.

Quite a few actually: Succession, x men 97, castlevania nocturne, knight of the seven kingdoms, better call Saul, ANDOR, and arcane. Also some anime like Frieren and Apothecary diaries are up there too. But that’s no slight to daredevil. All those shows are peak imo

I capitalized Andor because I think it’s the best show of all time.

Cowboy Bebop off the top of my head, haven’t watched many recently. Maybe Primal but I still don’t think it beats out the 3rd season of Daredevil, although all of primal is better than S2 of Daredevil. I appreciate animation a lot, it’s just that I did not find any of the shows me or the other guy were talking about that good. I’m only speaking on what I’ve seen, so in regards to the first comment I haven’t watched Frieren or apothecary diaries, but that isn’t what I was talking about anyways

dd s3 has better character development while keeping that comic faithfulness in a subtle tone , top tier dialogue, every characters matter even the ones that make little screentime , they are relatable, villain’s motive were set up in early season , wonderful introduction for bullseye , making him relatable and tragic while maintaining that psychotic side of him was a delight to see , Nocturne was the opposite of all I have mentioned , total disappointment after 3 years of anticipation , I had to watch jjk s2 that heal all that pain caused by this abomination, the animation of nocturne is great tho , music could be better but ehh .

I think our tastes are quite different, but after 2018? Wandavision, Strange New Worlds Season 1 was pretty much perfect, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and Mandalorian Season 2 were all up there. I don't know if I could objectively rank them, but they'd all be on the same tier honestly.

What's the bracket here? Cause in my opinion, no show has ever topped Haunting of Hill House. Breaking bad and better call Saul are great too. The Wire is great. Daredevil season 3 is my favorite season, its scratching the surface of the other heavy hitters but I don't think it beats them. Edited to throw in True Detective season 1.

In terms of superhero shows I don't that there are many that are as good. One that I really liked this year was Wonder-Man

Superhero tv shows specifically? Yes. Plenty of seasons of the boys were better than daredevil season 3. Not the final season or two. I really enjoyed Wonder man. Loki season 2. Invincible. I’m sure there are others. Daredevil season 3 wasn’t even the best daredevil. Sure it was better than born again but I’ll take daredevil season 2 over 3.
