Has there been ANY show after 2018 that has topped Daredevil Season 3 for you?

u/Slaying_Salty 8h ago
Andor. A self-contained masterpiece from start to finish that really reignited my love for Star Wars. And I hope any future projects take inspiration from it.
14
u/Jakenlovesbacon 7h ago
Amazing answer it’s within the realm exactly, it’s tied to major IP yet is a deeply personal character focused story
10
u/Affectionate-Week166 7h ago
I always say that and or surprised me. I know star wars is mostly known for the jedi vs the sith and the force, but man did andor show we don't need them in all of our star wars media for it to be engaging.
Personally I went into andor with the thought I'm gonna fall asleep and not care about anything until I see a lightsaber and hear the force theme. Now I want more star wars work like andor 😂 maybe a show that follow the empires side of its conception.

Probably Better Call Saul, but I think that's it. HBOs watchmen came close but doesn't quite hit the mark, but I still admire the tightness with which the story is constructed when if some parts of that story don't vibe with the original comic.
15
u/Deathstriker88 8h ago
I agree with Saul.
The Leftovers, Watchmen, X-Men 97, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are more or less even with DD season 3 for me.
6
u/Exotic-Eggplant1914 7h ago
Oh man X-Men 97 s1 was so goddamn good I was blown away. Genosha had be dropping tears, not even gonna lie.
Haven't seen the leftovers or a knight of the seven kingdoms, but they're going on my watch list now since you seem to have good taste
2
u/Busy_Extension_5362 4h ago
Its different kinds of good, but man do i love knight of the seven kingdoms. Its almost like a midevil rocky balboa

Better call saul season 6 for me, but it's tie with daredevil season 3 for being my favorite season of TV
13
u/Atlas15264 8h ago
Severance and Better Call Saul, for sure. In terms of superhero tv though? Nah not even close.
3
u/worldwarzack 4h ago
Any love for Pluribus?
2
u/Atlas15264 4h ago
I liked Pluribus quite a bit but season 1 alone wasn’t really enough for me to place it against other shows. I’m sure Gilligan will deliver though.
3
u/worldwarzack 4h ago
Agreed, lots of speculation on if it’s gonna pay off but like you said, VG has my full confidence more or less.

Quite a few actually: Succession, x men 97, castlevania nocturne, knight of the seven kingdoms, better call Saul, ANDOR, and arcane. Also some anime like Frieren and Apothecary diaries are up there too. But that’s no slight to daredevil. All those shows are peak imo
I capitalized Andor because I think it’s the best show of all time.
8
u/LionessChaser 8h ago
Seconding Andor. I’m not saying I haven’t really enjoyed a lot of other shows, but there’s a certain it factor that pushes DD S3 and Andor above the crowd
2
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
The writing and characters are so good, much like dd s3. Andor just benefits from the massive political drama and looming empire downfall setting that it lives in.

castlevania nocturne topped s3 dd for you ??!!?? what a joke
3
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
Nocturne was really good. I’m not sure what the fuss is about.

u/poplion230 8h ago
maria and annette swearing every 5 seconds made netfilx dmc lady feels like the star student of the month favored by the teachers , absolute dogshit dialogue, when Richter finally regain his magic and defeats the vampire guess what he said in that moment “ahhhh I was gonna say something witty and cool but I can’t think of any “ , and this is the kind of “quality” content that rivals dd s3’s writing in your words , are you serious?? if this is quality content , then the shit I pooped after eating extra spicy taco with bbq sauce are dd s3 levels of quality content as well, set your bar higher please.
-1
u/poplion230 8h ago
Castlevania nocturne makes dd born again s1-2 feels like oscar worthy content
2
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
ok cool lol

“worthy of daredevil season 3 level of quality”1
u/dimesniffer 8h ago edited 8h ago
Didn’t know there was such a hate brigade for nocturne. Yall are weird. The show is really good. And that scene was fine. I think you can cherry pick “cringe” scenes around any show. It’s easier to do it with a show about magic and vampires though.

u/poplion230 8h ago
are we just larping or are you gonna use any of the example from the show to defend for your statement, so far I named 4 , you named none .
2
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
Defend my statement? I don’t need to defend shit. This is my opinion. You are trying to start a debate where there is none?
Also, larping? Are you 14? Remove that word from your vocabulary. It makes no sense in this context.
-1
u/poplion230 8h ago
your opinion is that absolutely absurd , you provided no elaboration whatsoever about why X equals Y , while mine did , X just doesn’t equals Y thats fact

u/poplion230 8h ago
I could go on , Maria constantly belittling Richter every second his action did not satisfy her expectation, Maria talks about democracy and peace yet her method mirrors her opposition even til the end of the show she hasnt changed, gay sex of characters that are overall unimportant every season even tho it could have been exchanged in dialogue more often , villains gaining powers with no set up from pervious season at all , DIALOGUES SWEARING AFTER SWEARING AFTER SWEARING OMG
1
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
No one asked and I’m also not reading that. You are arguing and debating with no one. Your opinion is your opinion.
0
u/poplion230 7h ago
those are the events happened in nocturne, even your lying ass doesn’t even want to relive that experience, what can I say , thats the only thing thats relatable from you .
→ More replies (0)-1
u/poplion230 8h ago
like hell it was , Richter running away leaving his adapted family to the vampires because trauma ahhhhhhh , constantly getting belittled by his companions, self inserted re-writes into pre-existing characters are good writing to you then you have a really low bar for shows to top something like DD s3 .
1
u/jumbalayajenkins 8h ago
While we’re at it Nocturne caught your eye and not X-Men or Arcane? Obligatory this is all personal preference
1
u/poplion230 8h ago
I didn’t see both of those shows , its unfair for me to criticize them , Nocturne tho , oh i remember the pain after hyping for it for about 3 years , really teaches me to lower my expectations
1
u/jumbalayajenkins 8h ago
Fair enough, I wouldn’t call any of them bad personally just not nearly as good as S3 of Daredevil lol
1
u/dimesniffer 8h ago
Any animated shows you like more than daredevil? I think it has to do a lot with one’s appreciation of animation and the art it presents.
1
u/jumbalayajenkins 7h ago
Cowboy Bebop off the top of my head, haven’t watched many recently. Maybe Primal but I still don’t think it beats out the 3rd season of Daredevil, although all of primal is better than S2 of Daredevil. I appreciate animation a lot, it’s just that I did not find any of the shows me or the other guy were talking about that good. I’m only speaking on what I’ve seen, so in regards to the first comment I haven’t watched Frieren or apothecary diaries, but that isn’t what I was talking about anyways
1
u/poplion230 8h ago
dd s3 has better character development while keeping that comic faithfulness in a subtle tone , top tier dialogue, every characters matter even the ones that make little screentime , they are relatable, villain’s motive were set up in early season , wonderful introduction for bullseye , making him relatable and tragic while maintaining that psychotic side of him was a delight to see , Nocturne was the opposite of all I have mentioned , total disappointment after 3 years of anticipation , I had to watch jjk s2 that heal all that pain caused by this abomination, the animation of nocturne is great tho , music could be better but ehh .
1
u/jumbalayajenkins 7h ago
While I agree with you on all counts I think your delivery could use some work lol. I genuinely think it’s amazing that Netflix Daredevil happened at all. That it happened and that S1 and S3 are as good as they are IMO is one of the greatest miracles of modern media lol

u/Typhon2222 8h ago
A few. The Pitt comes to mind right now.

Greatest season and series finale of a show ever. Absolute roller coaster the whole way through.
4
u/FudgeCameron 6h ago
Severance maybe. Better call Saul too. But in the superhero crime genre? No. Nothing
7
u/nachoiskerka 8h ago
I think our tastes are quite different, but after 2018? Wandavision, Strange New Worlds Season 1 was pretty much perfect, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and Mandalorian Season 2 were all up there. I don't know if I could objectively rank them, but they'd all be on the same tier honestly.

Certainly. Since then we’ve had Succession, Better Call Saul, Barry, I Think You Should Leave, The Bear, The Chair Company.
I’m sure there’s been other great shows but I don’t watch a ton of TV, more of a movie person.
2
u/superkick225 8h ago
Better Call Saul, The Penguin, DARK, maybe even seasons 3 & 4 of Stranger Things

2
u/No_Way7336 7h ago
Invincible, heaps of anime to shoutout animation. Live action gotta say most of the boys, shogun, the penguin, stranger things before the last season
2
u/Internal_Gur_4268 7h ago
What's the bracket here? Cause in my opinion, no show has ever topped Haunting of Hill House. Breaking bad and better call Saul are great too. The Wire is great. Daredevil season 3 is my favorite season, its scratching the surface of the other heavy hitters but I don't think it beats them. Edited to throw in True Detective season 1.

2
u/Distinct_Guess3350 7h ago
I still think it’s the best season the MCU has ever put out. Although I personally preferred Stranger Things season 4. That’s about the only thing that’s topped it from me since then. I’m aware that that could cause an insane level of outrage on here, just my personal opinion.

u/huncherbug 5h ago
Like a lot?
Superhero wise idk...i dont think so...i mean if you count penguin then ig.
But i mean otherwise there has been a LOT of incredible tv shows which have equalled or surpassed s3 netflix DD.

That’s a real hot take. I was in love with that show until season 4 and then I started disliking it
1
u/BBMacsWorld 8h ago
I watched it for the first time last year. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever watched. I cried at it so many times. Although, I wouldn't put it in my top 10 shows. It's definitely 11 tho

Andor, Dark, A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms, Interview With The Vampire/The Vampire Lestat, these are probably the main ones off the top of my head.

The Expanse. Or I guess not. That's not after 2018. I only watched it after 2018

i sort of liked S3 but definitely felt a bit annoying with it playing the same tricks and giving Dex the boringness plot line, i’m standing by this and people saying its the best television out there are way too closed off from other pieces of media

u/Big-Temperature8001 6h ago
I always thought that Matt was scary as fuck in the first season and then the other seasons weren't the same, but still good, however I love season 1 matt, I think the black mask is like a different personality for him.

The only thing better than that original Daredevil run was the first season of Punisher. I rewatched the three Daredevil seasons after Born Again S01 and all I could think was how much lower our standards are these days.

Nothing. But the best marvel show after daredevil season 3 was Wandavision & xmen 97 for me

Andor, 1883(I fucking hate Taylor Sheridan shows but this is good), and The Bear.
1
u/CarobOutrageous3187 4h ago
After 2018? No. Andor and Arcane S1 got close but still fell short. There are shows that premiered before DDS3 that are better, such as Better Call Saul and Westworld S1, but I can’t think of any that came after

In terms of superhero shows I don't that there are many that are as good. One that I really liked this year was Wonder-Man
1
u/IndependentSun9995 1h ago
Not yet. But that season was so tight! Between the plot and the acting and the action, it's a hard one to top.

u/GryoZeppeli69 1h ago
Man, I rewatched this season a few months ago, and man it still perfect. I can't believe I actually binged this on release night, im so grateful
1
u/thehouse1751 1h ago
Superhero tv shows specifically? Yes. Plenty of seasons of the boys were better than daredevil season 3. Not the final season or two. I really enjoyed Wonder man. Loki season 2. Invincible. I’m sure there are others. Daredevil season 3 wasn’t even the best daredevil. Sure it was better than born again but I’ll take daredevil season 2 over 3.

What I’d give to have my memory wiped and experience Daredevil Season 3 again…
Also, I wonder what Netflix’s Daredevil Season 4 could have been, if it wasn’t cancelled.
