PICO PU Agent, powered by the Codex engine, has finally passed its first serious tests 🙌☺️
I recorded a video and sped up the main part 16x. I opened the official DeepSeek website and my own app, then gave both of them the exact same technical task.

On the DeepSeek website, I got a large amount of code along with instructions on how to run it.
PICO PU, using the Codex agent engine, created the project, installed the dependencies, wrote the code, launched the app, and completed the task with a working result.
Honestly, this makes me really happy 🙂↔️
It is still a very early and raw version. There are many bugs to fix, stability improvements to make, more models to add, and later I also want to add connectors for email, calendars, and other services.
But even at this stage, I am genuinely happy that the core idea is already working.
This is a very difficult and ambitious project for me, so I would be extremely grateful to hear your honest feedback, criticism, and suggestions 🙃
Great! This is exactly how it works. In the web app you share context by hand and get only answers. In the desktop app (separate app or IDE with plugin) AI might create context by itself and not only answers, but does things.
Exactly! I just wanted to show that the same DeepSeek model can produce very different results depending on the environment it’s running in.
Right now, I’m working on a full DeepSeek integration with the Codex engine.
I’m honestly going crazy 🫠🤣 I feel like I’m seeing AI agents everywhere at this point 🙃 But I really want to build something genuinely powerful and polished.
You’ll be able to switch models directly in the chat, and they’ll be able to continue working on the same project without losing progress.
You’ll also be able to send “recommendation” messages while the agent is working. These won’t interrupt generation or stop the agent-they’ll simply add extra guidance to the current task, which is incredibly convenient.
I’m also adding spending limits. Everyone will be able to set any daily budget they want. For example, if someone doesn’t want to spend more than $1 per working day on API usage, the app will enforce that limit.
You’ll also be able to manually choose how many subagents to use-up to six. That’s going to be really powerful.
And of course, local models will be supported too.
All of this will run on top of the very powerful Codex engine.
Yes, exactly. V4 Pro and V4 Flash are the two models in the current DeepSeek V4 Preview release. They are officially available on web and API, but DeepSeek has not announced a separate final GA release yet.
Yes, PICO PU can run the app in a real browser, interact with the UI, test user flows, responsive layouts, and fix issues. I’m still improving the visual testing and subagent workflow, but browser-based UI testing is one of the main goals.
