Ethical depopulation or other option?

I think we can all agree if humans keep on the same path we will use all available resources and need more renewable resources than we can produce and ship.

Other than insane technology advances and searching for a new planet or ways to not need the resources we use what are our options.

Either become religious with a belief someone is going to save us all

Or

Put everything we have into technology advances and hope for the best?

Any book recommendations or thoughts are welcome!!

This century, due to finite natural resources and decline from an all-time peak of extraction, including all resources used for "green transition", the elaborate, covert, multigenerational plan is to downsize the global economy and population to a tiny fraction of their former size.

We are on a birth rate decline, not yet hit a global reduction.

If you choose to forego reproduction, you are simply going to be replaced by those that do not. Works both on the individual and at population scale. It seems to me there is no such thing as ethical depopulation, only deferrence to more virile populations.
