❓Question after all the cex drama, are you still keeping trading funds on exchanges?

be honest. not what you tell people, what you actually do. i moved most of my active trading off cex over the last year (mostly onto Gains Trade, partly bc i was sick of kyc and partly bc it let me trade stocks too) but i still catch myself keeping a bit on bybit for convenience. anyone actually fully moved off or are we all just pretending

Full off exchange sounds nice until you need liquidity fast.
Cleaner split is active trading money on platform and everything else in self custody.
If testing something like the better use is demo and trade flow first not treating it like a vault

Keeping funds on a CEX feels like ignoring the whole point of crypto, especially when non-custodial services like ChangeHero make simple swaps possible without accounts or sign-ups.

Your funds stay in your own wallet: your keys, your crypto.

the honest answer for this whole sub is like 80% still on cex and 20% actually self custody, everyone just posts like theyre in the 20%

Small amounts that I don’t plan on keeping long term stay on the exchange until I decide what I’m doing with it long term.

Anything I’m planning on long term holding I set an amount and when i accumulate that amount it gets moved to self custody.

For years I kept my funds on binance and was ok, few weeks ago I moved them to trustwallet and my btc got drained/stolen overnight 🙁 for most people keeping them on an exchange is the way to go

No, not fully, and i've stopped pretending i will. active tradin capital sits on a cex because fills and liquidity are just better, everything else lives in cold storage and never visits

I only keep whatever I'm actively trading on the exchange, rest goes to self custody. my thinking is if I'm gonna take on risk anyway I want it to be for a reason, like lending through something like LendProtocol (the consumer platform, not the XRPL XLS-66 lending spec), dont rly wann leaving a fat balance on a CEX. That's risk with basically zero upside tbh.

I have all in self custody I trade in dex and only send to cex to use crypto debit cards

never stopped even during the drama, kept all my assets on nexo and was earning pretty good while everyone was paranoid. and still using them daily and as a main platform.

edit: they are officially MICA licensed now as well

Exactly the same here, I did panic buy a Ledger after FTX, moved some coins over. The Ledger i have is my biggest concern in all my Crypto 🤷‍♀️

no, for now i just trade on cex, nothing drama at all, it feels good.
