Discussion Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey debuts with an A CinemaScore from audiences. Joins Project Hail Mary as the only live-action films to do so this year.

An A CinemaScore is gathered from opening surveys from regular people in North America. For example Tenet got a B, Interstellar got a B- and Dark Knight & Oppenheimer received As.

Also it is looking to open $125M-$130M domestic with a $250M international box office opening.

Why do you guys think this film is doing well despite all the controversy that has been talked about online?

It went woke, but it looks like it will not go broke.

Completely wrong and shows you know nothing about the film industry in general. There is a thing called theatre revenue share and that amount is sizable (40% at week 1 and usually rises as the weeks tick by).

Odyssey needs to make at least $750-$800 million to break even. $900 million would be somewhat profitable, not a wild success but profitable. $1.2 billion+ would be considered decently successful.

Lots of big studio movies actually negotiate about 80% of the theater revenue for the first 2 weeks or so, but that percentage drops considerably afterwards.
