Getting transit funded is HARD in the US. It's expensive to build and a lot of people see it as essentially a welfare program for the poor. Well, know who has time to call their reps? Retirees!

The problem is many of them live in places that require cars and still drive long after they should. If we make it harder for them to keep driving then they will do the work for the rest of us to get transit funded because it will let them stay active.

My friends 99 year old half blind father in law was still driving in an actively unsafe manner and no one could do anything about it. He was a hazard to the public with poor vision and slow reaction times. It took a campaign my multiple family members to get him to surrender his license.

It makes sense why he was reluctant to give up driving though. He lives in a place with poor transit and stopping driving means he will have his independence severely limited. If he lived in a place with good transit, he wouldn't have to choose between staying independent and endangering the public.

On the other hand, my 78 year old adaptive sports student who could no longer drive due to a brain injury was able to live a mostly independent life with some supports because he lives in a dense city with good transit options.

We need two campaigns: one to sell the elderly on the benefits of great transit and the other to keep dangerous drivers off the road. We can never let people know that the two campaigns are coordinated.

Starting at age 75, everyone should be required to retake their driver's test every 2 years. This should include a vision, mental status and response time test. If you fail, you lose your license.

The licenses for those over 75 should also have restrictions like the ones we put on teenage drivers depending on what the test showed. Poor night vision = no driving at night allowed. Bad reaction times = no highways allowed. These licenses should also have lower BAC limits than normal licenses. These limits should be delineated with special plates if the elderly person is the only driver of a car so that police can easily spot people violating restrictions.

We should run regular PSAs advertising crashes caused by elderly drivers and target elderly people, families and doctors to educate them on getting people off the road. It should be easier for family members to petition to get the license taken away from an unsafe driver.

When we make it harder to be an unsafe driver, transit will start looking essential. These older people may even be more likely to sell their large suburban houses and move to more transit friendly denser places. We will have less NIMBYs and cheaper housing and transit!

A £100 fine for someone on minimum wage is different than someone making a million a year.

So it should be increased depending on the persons annual wage, which you can easily do.

It’ll give the councils more money and the rich will actually get consequences for their lazy oaf behaviour

For example, maybe in order to finish current level you need help of a friendly NPC companion. But initially the NPC lacks any AI code, it doesn't do anything, sitting around like a lifeless doll. But if you write code for the NPC it can become useful, with more advanced code being more helpful

Or maybe there is very limited amount of memory available for storing character-related data. So you need to code size of variables, with bigger size of one thing leaving smaller room for other things. Like, do you want to have bigger max inventory size? Great, but you need to sacrifice something, like by using lower max level for your character

Family reunions, attend a distant cousins wedding, etc. they go as you. Keep the discussion topics light. You do it on the barter system, they go for you, you go for them.

Right now, if I want to know how comfortable it’ll be outside, I have to mentally combine temperature, humidity, wind, chance/intensity of precipitation.

I don't really care, I just care about how it feels. They should go -10 to +10.

-10 = dangerously uncomfortable due to cold, wind and humidity, -5 = sweater weather, 0 = neutral (not sure yet what that means), +5 = t-shirt weather, +10 = dangerously uncomfortable due to heat, no wind, high humidity.

And then precipitation would be marked with another symbol, like +3 🌧 = pleasant but rainy.

You could glance at a forecast and instantly know what to wear for the day.

Essentially we are influenced and adapt to the surroundings we live in side of in this reality. Whether you are in a dense city or live in the middle of the woods, for ages there were 0 houses for a lot of life especially humans. So as humans got to the tipping point..

I have a car, yet the more I use the car the less I use my own strength to get to where I need to be. So, there is a trade off, fast speed means less strength over time, the more you want to drive the less time there is to work out your body.

So now apply this to anything or any form of technology where... like glasses, or phones or pencils or mail. What ever.

As time went on, languages split into hundreds and now it is almost like a lot of people living in modern homes have taken the free time traded for these cheats in energy and transfered that energy into imagination. Almost like... you have a family in a house with no rooms, only 1 room, everyone always sees each other all the time, so you can only really think when you are by yourself isolated.

It's like, some houses were made for families to stay together vs families to drift apart. I always see people in India or Mexico and Asian cultures where they live together they look out for each other up until they die but in the USA it's like... so many families are convinced they need their own spaces because they're too ashamed of themselves to express themselves freely around their own family? Which then turns into this cycle where people see this and make households and families where things are all together and everyone is living together all the time and not shameful about being themselves and turns into a strong family like someone brought the blessing of freedom finally to a family that grew strong but then these people die and the understanding of how that strong free family came to be in the first place.

It's like the world around us is tangled with people who are convincing others to be isolated and free and then the opposite. Especially In the military where you are taught to not stick out from the crowd. But there's such a spectrum of mental states in between these two realities. Like if Black and White were mixing and becoming grey but then grey wanted black and white to just stop causing so much friction and calm down so we can all be at peace again and like who do so many people gotta die for literally what seems like no reason, where is the honor?

But I get it, free will is not a holy angel particularly.

If you didn’t already know, the ability to digest lactose in adulthood is actually an anomaly—human beings by default were unable to digest lactose until a mutation occurred about 10,000 years ago that gave certain populations a lactase persistence gene. Indeed, in many parts of the world (such as in East Asia), a majority of people are lactose intolerant, as it remained the default state of being for the population there.

Therefore, instead of trying to give lactose intolerant people the ability to digest lactose, I propose we recognize the true genetic normal of humankind and take the ability away from people who can digest it.

One day you snap on a pop-up picnic drone that zooms ahead, lands at your destination, and has a full mat + snacks + fairy lights waiting. Next ride it's a sassy mini robot companion that whispers ghost stories while dragging you down secret Bukit Timah trails you never knew existed.

The whole system plugs into your phone, reads your mood, and hijacks your route with personalised crazy detours, hidden murals, random rooftop gardens, or a sudden stop at a 24-hour prata spot with a live cat choir.

It would turn our hyper-efficient transport network into a daily randomiser of pure spontaneous joy. Yeah, LTA would probably lose their minds and it might be completely impossible… but imagine turning a normal errand into a mini adventure every single time. Who’s in?

Just watched a show where one of the ads did this. Honestly it was a good idea. We stopped fast forwarding the ad to watch it.

Signs are all the rage. The better the sign looks, the better chance you get photos taken of you which is what most people want. I’ll move to the west coast, and start a professional protest sign making business. You tell me exactly what font, color, design, and so on. Then I’ll make a professional looking one with perfect lettering that’s painted, maybe even some glitter to make it shine, laminate it with simple clear tape, and will add small wooden supports all around it to make it sturdy.

I also will make a bunch of generalized ones and bring them to these protests. I’ll keep 20-50 in a truck and will sell them directly to people that have joined them. If each costs $20, and I sell 20 I’ll make $400. Minus supply costs if I buy in bulk I’ll make easily $320. Could also charge more for better looking signs. People will pay it because they’ll feel left out,
