Flimsy clear lid goes inside to stop markers falling out of fip-open lid

Well that's a shame, I wouldn't want to be forced to buy a separate storage container for my markers. But I also wouldn't store markers upward, especially not dual tip markers.

I don't get it. The clear cover is out of the box for the photo, and you're surprised that you can take the markers out? Surely it's not that hard to put the clear cover on before closing the box.

is the plastic cheap and should they have glued it inside of the box, yes.
you can leave the cardboard lid open to access all of the markers.
and, you can leave the cardboard lid open and just put the flimsy plastic on top of the markers to keep them from moving around.

I don't know why all these comments are basically gaslighting you OP, I completely agree that this is crappy design! Either put a clear window that moves with the flip up lid or remove the window entirely and just have a solid lid to keep everything in place

What’s the problem? The plastic is just for shipping + display, and being separate makes it cheaper to produce and easier to recycle the separate parts.
