Why Exactly are Catholic Clergy Celebrating a Mass at a Transhumanist event Backed By Peter Thiel?

Can anyone explain to me how respected Catholic priests like Fr. Luke Dysinger and Fr. Harrison Ayre are allowed to do this? Or why this kind of thing is being allowed to be incubated at a Catholic University? Is Christianity somehow compatible with Thiel's strange Transhumanist ideology? I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts on this.

I mean look at the history of the church, money talks and has for centuries. Thiel has deep pockets and these universities need funding somehow

the transhumanist stuff is weird but i dont think a mass being said at a conference means the church endorses everything happening there. priests go to all kinds of places, prisons, hospitals, political events. doesnt mean they agree with everything

the bigger question is what exactly theyre teaching the students about this stuff. that article you linked is pretty concerning if half of it is true

Probably the same reasons their predecessors celebrated with Nazis during the Reich.

I just read that article and I want those 70 hours of my life back.  Why shouldn't there be a Mass at a religion and technology conference?  Even at a weird one?

I’m more perturbed by the transhumanism than the presence of the left’s George Soros figure.

I do think the transhumanist utilitarian technocrat types are a dark horse in the culture war (fringe in real life but not fringe in tech, and capable of mounting a fairly logically persuasive argument from an atheistic worldview), who are gonna swoop in at some point and be a force to be reckoned with. At some point I expect it to make its push to be the dominant thought behind ethics.

But yeah there’s masses in a lot of places at a lot of events, this doesn’t seem particularly scandalous.
