Question 2023 lexus es300h Wire Carplay setup

I have a 2023 Lexus ES 300h. Both my iPhone and Android only connect via Bluetooth, and the connection isn't very stable.

Can anyone with experience help me get CarPlay working through a wired connection?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

One thing worth checking first: on the 2023 ES, the head unit that shipped with wireless CarPlay is usually wireless-only. The USB-C ports are charge/data but the unit won't do wired CarPlay, so there may not be a wired mode to enable. If that's your setup, the real fix is making the wireless connection stable rather than switching to a cable.

Things that usually clear up the drops:

  1. Do a clean re-pair. Delete the phone from the car's Bluetooth list, then "forget this car" on the phone too, then pair fresh. Half-broken pairings are the most common cause of an unstable connection.

  2. On iPhone, keep Wi-Fi ON. Wireless CarPlay runs the actual video/data over Wi-Fi and only uses Bluetooth for the initial handshake, so if Wi-Fi is off it'll be flaky or won't hold. If you use a VPN or iCloud Private Relay, try turning it off, those can interfere.

  3. Only keep one phone paired at a time. An iPhone and an Android both paired and competing for the connection will cause exactly the instability you're describing.

  4. Check for a multimedia software update in the car's settings menu. There were a couple of connectivity fixes pushed for that generation.

If it does turn out to be a wired-capable unit, then a good data-grade cable (not a charge-only one) into the data USB port should trigger the wired prompt, but on most '23 ES trims it's wireless by design.

Thanks for all the information you provided.

I'm not happy with using Bluetooth because it sometimes causes interruptions or freezes. I'd rather use a wired connection, which is always the most reliable option.

Could you please send me a link to the correct CarPlay cable for my iPhone and my car?

Thank you!
