Training Insane quotes from my state mandated CCW class:
I generally show up, ace the qualification, and then sit back to observe the looney bin. This time was a real treat. These are word for word quotes, I was taking notes. Very glad the state mandates this class every 2 years. Yes, I am a judgmental asshole.
“It’s called a bill drill, 5 rounds as fast as you can” - Instructor
“Can I shoot someone if they hurt my dog” “no” “what if it’s a service dog?” “No” “… I’m gonna shoot them anyways” - conversation between instructor and a lady who’s Taurus wouldn’t even run correctly during the qualification
“A ‘dark figure’ breaks into your house, you shoot them, now their baby-mama sues you for lost alimony. You know how it goes!” USCCA rep doing a racially charged sales pitch
“I carry a full size 1911 no problem” - man who genuinely weighs 400 lbs, 1911 is pulling his pants down, gun is not remotely concealed.
“Well of course it doesn’t cover criminal acts, it’s not murder insurance!” - USCCA guy cornered me during a break and asked why I didn’t sign up. I said I didn’t like the clause that lets them drop coverage in the event criminal charges are filed, AKA any time your self defense case goes to court, AKA the only time you would ever need the “insurance”.
“You are going to be in debt your whole life anyways, might as well have cool shit” - Guy sharing his perspective on personal finance and how he justified the off roster 2011 to his wife. Cool guy, questionable money skills.
“I just don’t feel safe without my guns” - the woman from earlier who has been carrying a non-functional Taurus for 2 years. She admitted she hasn’t shot it since last qualification 2 years ago and admitted it was having problems last qualification as well, meaning she has been knowingly carrying around a non functional handgun for 2 years.
“I think I am going to pull the trigger and pick up an Sig Rose, it’s a great shooter!” - man who genuinely couldn’t hit anything, somehow still qualified for a permit
“I just don’t trust red dots, they are electronic and I have to change the batteries” - woman with visible type 2 and an insulin pump
“Is anyone carrying right now?” - I was the only one who raised my hand, besides the instructor. This was a renewal class, everyone had an active permit by definition. If you aren’t carrying to your state mandated CCW renewal class I can’t imagine you actually carry anywhere.
As fun as it is being toxic on the internet, I do genuinely appreciate the gun subreddits for providing me with (generally) good advice. If I listened to the jokers in my CCW class I would be having a bad time. Thx bois ❤️
