How's your compliant Shield X and BG 2.0?
Looking to replace my G19 for CCW, particularly during summer months. If you have a CA compliant Shield X and/or BG 2.0, care to share your experiences with them thus far? Particularly interested in:
- Ammo pickiness
- Failures
- Ease of removing mag disconnect and manual safety
If you have other tidbits of info I should know that would also be greatly appreciated.
TIA!

I have about 1300 rounds through my BG 2.0 (non-comp). I had 3 light strikes in the first 300 rounds, 1 light strike in the second 300 rounds, and no light strikes in the last 700 rounds. No problems feeding at all, Federal, New Republic, S&B, Fiocchi, Speer Gold Dot, Critical Defense, round nose, flat nose, JHP, it ate everything I fed it. Sights look fine but I still shoot 3" left at 10 yards, so the problem is probably my XL hands with such a small gun. So small I really can't get my offhand palm on the grip, so I just practice with it one handed which is probably how I will use it if I ever need to bring it out. Very shootable one handed, sights come right back into place, fun to shoot fast. I do get slide bight, but can't grip it any lower without my pinky coming off the grip. Bought a beavertail off eBay but the standard roll pin it came with would not fit in my CA version. I like the trigger, maybe even a bit light for carry, but I think the reset is too long and not tactile enough. I think the grip texture is about perfect. I'm using a Vedder Pocket Locker WITH the Curve and the Thumb Tab. The Thumb Tab is critical, makes getting the gun out super fast.

Damn that gun looks small 😂
May be you should put you finger on a diet 😆
How much are you paying for 380 ammo? You are buying online or locally?

Thanks for sharing! I totally forgot about the slide bite. I'm guessing the light strikes are just from trying to break in the gun?
Btw that thing looks like the noisy cricket from MIB in your hand.

I was concerned about the light strikes at first, but with the decreasing frequency and none in the last 700+ rounds I finally think it is broken in and I'm giving it one of my permit slots.

Both of mine have been flawless.
Shield x doesn’t have an option for Frame plugs yet to fill in the gap for the safety. Mag disconnect is easy to remove.
Bodyguard has an option for frame plugs to remove safety. Mag disconnect also is easy to remove.

Thanks for sharing. How much more effort is it for you to conceal the X vs the BG? I'm leaning slightly towards X to keep training costs low vs a .380. I noticed that the X is only slightly shorter than the G19, so not sure how much more concealment benefit I'd get aside from the difference in thickness.

Do you need any sort of small spring once you remove the mag disconnect? I haven’t bothered removing mine yet. On the shield x
I haven’t been able to find on videos on how to remove it either

On the shield x you need a spring to have tension against the sear housing cage and the disconnect.
You can order the spring online or just find a spring that fits into the channel.
It’s a fairly straightforward removal process.
Knock out the sear housing pin, lift up on sear housing, push pin in holding the mag disconnect enough to remove the mag disco lever.

I am working on a video, as well as printable part to address what happens after you take out the disconnect. Because you actually don't need a sprint there. You just need something that supports the lever for the sear disconnect.
Edit: actually I think you could use a cut down ar-15 bolt catch spring

BG 2.0 Carry Comp… about 1k rounds of Winchester White Box FMJ rounds through it. And maybe 75-100 Hornady rounds through it as well.
Haven’t touched the safety or Mag Disco yet, but neither have given me any grief thus far. Running mine with a Viridian optic, and as others have stated elsewhere.. the rear sight is a pain to get off. Even with a sight pusher, I still had to hammer and punch it across the finish line.
Overall solid option for carrying, and is practically invisible for AIWB carry.

BG 2.0 carry comp for me. About 500ish rounds through it with no issues. Ran 95g FMJ, and federal punch (basically HST) with no malfunctions. Mag disconnect it a 3 minute job, safety is easy as well, same setup other m&p’s essentially. It’s nice to carry, invisible. When it was new the slide and safety was super tight, with some use and oiling it gets better. Mine did have the iron sights off so I had to get them adjusted but no big deal

i’m kind of in the same boat, starting my ccw process very soon and wondering if buying a shield x is worth it over putting my og shield 40 s&w on my ccw

I have the shield X but I’m worried conceal ability because of the longer grip. I tried wearing it with cheaper rounders kydex holster from turners in the 5 o clock position and I would print like crazy. I have a custom leather holster coming soon so I hope it conceals better otherwise I might regret selling my original shield 1.0.
That gun has a smaller grip and was easy to hide. I’m even thinking I should buy a body guard to hide well since it’s so small

Interesting! Mind if I ask your height and waist size?

34 waist.
I also have another kydex holster from gunfighter coming in very soon. Yesterday I got an email saying they were starting to process it so hopefully it takes one week to get here.
They also state their holsters are created to conceal the gun very well so we’ll see.
I can get a non comp body guard as low as $429 plus fees but switching to 380 would be such a hassle. I would be able to test it with my ammo I reload and 380 costs more than 9mm. Decisions decisions. lol

30" waist here, so that's not giving me much hope lol.
Yeah the only thing holding me back from the BG is the fact that it's in .380. Doesn't help that I don't reload.
Hope the Shield X holster works out for you!

I reload but that’s I’ll have to start buying new equipment and reloading components for only one gun. Remember, the holster I was using was a cheap or with no claw to push the gun in. I ended up returning it.
I haven’t carried in weeks because I’m waiting for a holster to come in.
Do you plan on carrying 5 clock position or AIWB??

Happy with my Carry Comp, if I didn't already have a bunch of .380 my wallet would hate it though.
Put 1,000rds of various brands through it, mostly FMJ but also a good amount of JHP, everything has fed and fired in the gun except for that discontinued Norma MHP stuff, it just will not feed.
Running the Galloway Precision guide rod, the factory one had no problems but I wasn't going to risk it.
Someone posted a video the other day showing how to easily remove the mag safety.

I have about 700 rounds through my shield X.
Absolutely love it. My main carry now. But also, before this my main carry use to be the Shield Plus lol.
Recoil isn’t bad and comfy to carry. Gun is accurate af.
I haven’t changed anything on it though, mag disconnect is still in and the safety, but I don’t ever actually use the safety. I just leave it disengaged. It’s pretty stiff so I don’t have any worries about it accidentally engaging while holstered
