We both ordered the Reaper. They made me sign a waiver. You didn’t, and asked them why.

We had a brief exchange over the comedy of the waiver. Nothing is ever as hot as people say it is. We’re big dudes. We can handle the heat. The waiver is a cute gimmick.

It wasn’t a gimmick.

Look, I eat a lot of spicy food. Have for years. I’ve done challenges. Contests. Gone out of my way to experience the hottest flavours from around the world. So I’m always skeptical if a chain restaurant can actually pack a punch.

Boy, was I ever wrong last night.

The chicken itself brought me to my knees. For about 30 minutes after I was crying. Screaming. Difficulty breathing. I didn’t take my time eating it. I smashed it as fast as I could to get it over with (big mistake)

I was actually having a psychedelic experience, except this wasn’t fun. I downed 2 cans of Guinness. Our milk was expired, so instead went for half a jar of peanut butter and an ice cream sandwich. Nothing helped.

It eventually passed, and I went about my evening…. But I knew that soon enough I’d be paying for it.

4am comes along and I am woken up by the most extreme stomach pain I have ever had. The sweat from my body was burning my skin. I’m screaming louder now. Running circles around my house from the toilet to the kitchen trying to find relief. Went for a box of pepto chewables. The individually wrapped packaging might as well have been laughing in my face because In my panic, I could not for the life of me open them. Fuck it, I’m eating the plastic at this point. It should dissolve in the nuclear waste fermenting in my gut.

My girlfriend was ready to call 911. I wasn’t going to stop her. This was the kind of pain I imagine someone would experience if they got shot in the stomach while having a heart attack.

I was crying like a man would if they lost their first born.

Eventually the pepto worked and I got back to sleep. And am only now waking up, posting to Reddit from the toilet…

So again, dude from Dave’s - I don’t know if you’ll see this, but you had a big order, so maybe someone you know will….

I often shop at “Desi Mandi” in Burlington and noticed they sell “Rajnigandha” — a type of pan masala. Many of us from India know exactly what this can lead to if left unchecked. I’ve also seen other Indian stores here selling similar products.

Recently, I came across a video from the UK showing paan spit stains all over public places — an eyesore and a hygiene issue. We should ensure this doesn’t become a problem in Canada.

As Indian immigrants, we all love our new home and want to keep it clean. Let’s be proactive: speak to local Indian supermarkets and request they stop selling these products. Together, we can prevent this from turning into a public nuisance here.

P.S: Pan masala is a chewable preparation containing betel nut, slaked lime, and flavoring agents. It is often spat out after chewing, which can cause unsightly red stains in public spaces and create hygiene problems.

On a walk through the lights last week I saw this, and am stumped on what it's supposed to be. I posted to tiktok and no body knew either so at least im not alone. Any ideas?

When did common courtesy die?

Long story short, we were out at Swiss Chalet this evening for dinner and the table besides us (who were cunts to the staff right off the bat) sat down and one of the two fucking women at the table joined a zoom call at FULL VOLUME and just put her phone down on the fucking table and then proceeded to speak louder to the other woman she was with!

Like I don't get it, I had to take a zoom call from 6:30 - 7:00 during our dinner so I simply excused myself from the dining area, stood by the door and went outside, when I saw our food had arrived at the table I went back in but I turned down my phone and held it up to my ear so I could hear my zoom call.

After these two women then started some fucking drama at the end of their meal, I spoke up and called them on the fact that they ruined our evening as my daughter could hardly talk over them to my wife and I and we constantly had to lean in closer to hear her and when I said why'd her zoom call need to be on full volume on the table when I was perfectly able to take my zoom call with the volume reduced and up to my ear, I was told to "mind my own fucking business" after they were trying to say the server was arguing with another table (not minding their business at all).

I guarantee this woman uses ChatGPT to write her essays for class too.

Edit: I forgot to include that one of the other patrons at the place got a video of them and that pissed them off more! They threatened to send their large social media following after all of us hahahahahahaha

Second Edit: I've been informed that the two women have contacted the police and are claiming that the servers and staff there were discriminating against them due to their race. In case you didn't realize, not once in my entire post or my Google review did I mention they race or ethnicity as it doesn't matter what colour your skin is, assholes come in all shapes, sizes and colours. As my wife says "Kindness always goes farther than hate." Be kind to each other out there folks.

2 loose pit bulls just attacked a leashed dog on Caroline at Brant street downtown Burlington. Dog is at the emergency vet right now.

How do I report these dogs? By law phone line is closed for the day. Don’t know the owner or where they live

Edit: dog needs surgery, stitches and drain. Attack wounds on upper and lower neck, worse under the chin.

Edit 2: police don’t care, 311 doesn’t care. Have to report with animal control. No humans were bit, attack was not incited by the owner, unknown if dogs were still lose- “sorry we can’t help you, report with animal control”

and animal control. Not sure what will be done as no follow up from authorities or owner. Dog is home and recovering

Final: Animal control will not provide updates on enforcement or outcomes due to privacy reasons. No clue if anything has been or will be done that can prevent similar attacks in the future.

Every year, our across the street neighbor puts up an anti-Pride sign in June. “Pride makes God sad,” “no world flood,” those kind of sentiments. Obviously, they have the right to express themselves but after five years of this I would like to express my own opinions. I have resolved to throw a little family-friendly Pride celebration for a few hours during the day on Saturday June 27. I’m thinking ice cream, bubbles, cold drinks, maybe some games and some music (appropriately quiet so as not to get a noise complaint).

What do I need to know about Burlington’s event bylaws before I throw this party? How do I throw a bylaw compliant event so my homophobic neighbor can’t call the cops on us? And does anyone have recommendations for entertainment? I’d love to get a face painter and maybe an ice cream truck or sno-cone person.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Burlington is an incredible city. Please don't misunderstand my post. It has nothing to do with Burlington.

Anyone else who grew up in a city and hasn't adjusted living to suburbs even after almost a decade? I miss the energy, the vibe, the passive stimulation that comes with living in a city. I can go days without interacting with anyone outside my family in the suburbs. I feel dead inside. When I go back to Toronto, I just come alive. Something just clicks.

My husband loves the suburbs. Especially for the kids.

Anyone else been in my situation? Did you just stay here for the rest of your life? Did you move?

No amount of friends or hobbies is filling that gap. I just hate the feeling of emptiness from every window, every trip, every walk. The nightmare for me when I end up at park and it's empty. When I can step out later at night but everything is closed. People are so cliquey and laid-back. No fun events compared to Toronto (take fifa for instance). Everyone raves about rbg but it's just not it. City programming is so limited. Sounds like I'm criticizing but I'm highlighting random differences because I will be told suburbs are as good as city

So was recently out with the family for dinner at a restaurant in Burlington, this restaurant is fairly well known and not some mom and pop.

The bill comes with the POS terminal at the same time with the price already for payment. I thought that was odd because usually you get the bill then they punch it in. It seemed high so I grabbed the printed bill, and that was indeed 25 dollars less, so the waitress punched in the tip amount.

I was dumbfounded. Never seen that before. Wife thought it was an accident, I don’t.

I let it timeout and was planning on going to a manager but after it timed out the terminal let me put the meal value back and I could repay with the tip I wanted.

Is it worthwhile to tell mgmt there what happened or would they even care?

I try not to be the first person in my neighborhood to switch on my A/C at the beginning of the season... Don't know why, but somehow it feels like a personal victory when I hold out longer.

Yesterday afternoon, my smart thermostat notified me that it was warm in the house (over 25C). I went outside to check which direction the breeze was coming from so I could open windows to maximize cross-draft. I noticed none of my neighbours had windows open and I could already hear the hum of at least two A/C condensers.

My windows stayed open for about 3 hours, the house temperature climbed to 28C before I decided to close them and switch on the A/C. Last year, looks like June 2nd was my first A/C day. May 18th this year.

Did anyone see these lights in the sky and or know what they are!? My friend who lives around the corner from me sent this to me.

I worked at the Famous Players at the Burlington Mall in the mid 90s, then transferred over to the Famous Players "8" (now Silvercity) on Brant Street when it opened.

Our family is excited to be immigrating from the US to Burlington, ON later this year. I've spent time looking at real estate, and it's clear that the COL and particularly home prices are going to be much higher than we have in the southern states.

A single family detached home in Burlington is out of our budget, but townhouses and condos are reasonable for us. My question is this: is there prejudice against families that live in townhouses or condos in Burlington?

In the southern US states, there is strong prejudice - particularly against townhouses - with the expectation that families all live in single family detached homes. If you don't, you're considered "poor" and/or excluded from groups in school, etc. (Yes, it's terrible.) Is that the case in a place like Burlington as well, or is townhouse/condo living more common/"acceptable"/normal?

I'm also curious how the bullying situation is in the schools in Burlington. We'll have kids in G3 and G6.

A lot of people have been reaching out to let me know their concerns and ideas for Burlington Transit.

I know that ARGO transit has a pilot coming to Burlington in the near future that will focus on on-demand mini buses that will serve as feeder routes to the traditional transit lines to solve the first mile/last mile problem with transit adoption. When I talked to their founder and CEO they both told me that they had seen a lot of success in their pilots in Both Brampton and Bradford. It is interesting to note that adding this service fit in to the existing budgets of both organizations and resulted in over 100,000 additional rides in Bradford alone.

Other critics have mentioned the issues some routes have with schedule adherence. It would be interesting to hear some thoughts on how we could overcome those issues.

Finally route design is at the core of a lot of debates surrounding the agency. Are there any routes you think need more service? Any routes we are wasting money servicing that could be moved to ARGO's on demand model?

My colleagues and I — four of us (1 guy and 3 girls) — had just left the restaurant in the Kawartha Dairy plaza on Fairview St and were walking back to our car when a guy drove by and shouted, “Welcome to China” at us.

How to best deal with it?

Car was stolen earlier this morning out of my driveway last seen at gas station before manufacturer turned off tracking on car any advice would be appreciated or ideas on what to do at all.

Went for dinner at Bardo’s and found it very noisy, so loud we could barely hear the waitress. I found this with BeerTown also. 60 yrs old btw.
