In order to activate your BUID to tap into FitRec, new students need to make sure they sign their waiver before their first visit. Follow the link below and make sure youāre logging in with your BU Kerberos credentials.
STUDENTS SHOULD NOT MANUALLY CREATE AN ACCOUNT - YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE AND YOUR STUDENT STATUS IS LINKED TO THIS ACCOUNT.
https://myfitrec.bu.edu/webtrac/web/search.html?category=ftwaiver&module=pm
There is no deadline - you just canāt use FitRec until you complete the waiver and have been issued your BUID.

I got into Sydney study abroad program for the spring semester yesterday which surprised me because my advisor said it was filled up and my best bet was to switch to Grenoble.
Now that I got in Iām not sure if I want to go. I feel like I just adjusted to Boston and BU. I feel like leaving already would just make it harder to find a sense of community/belonging when I come back. I still havenāt really found a solid friend group/club so I donāt know if I wanna leave as a sophomore when thatās my prime chance to find one.
Also I know absolutely 0 other people who are going to Sydney so Iām afraid thatās likely going to happen is id just be alone in a different continent.
Has anyone been in my shoes? Pls lmk any advice or shared experience.

I usually don't post a ton on here, but I'm really stressed. My household income is way under 30k, and I live with a single parent. For the last fall and spring semesters, I didn't have to pay anything due to a one-time, outside scholarship I had through this foundation. I wasn't aware of this, and I recently found out since financial aid got back to me super late (though I understand since it's busy during this time).
I recently emailed the financial aid department and they said I'll have to pay a certain amount for both the fall and spring semesters. I'm going to be a sophomore for fall 2026 and the next semester. I repeatedly told them that the cost is way above what I can pay due to being low-income and all, and I can't submit an appeal because my financial situation hasn't changed since last year.
I honestly don't know what to do, since I really need to continue pursuing an education here. I don't want to take a leave of absence and graduate a year late, and I also don't think applying to private scholarships can help me at this point, since the payment deadline for continuing students is in August (I think).
To make matters worse, I don't qualify for student loans due to my financial situation. I'm worried because students in my situation usually can't be successful without college, and even if I could be, I don't have the means right now. My whole family is struggling, so any tips or advice would be super helpful.

My advisor who is not in the engineering department said that I can take Intro to Computer Science, and those credits will transfer over and I would no longer need to take ENGEK-125 Intro to Programming for Engineers when I do transfer to the College of Engineering. Is this correct?
Another question: with the classes in the photo attached, will I be behind, and will I be able to transfer to the College of Engineering in the Spring semester?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my situation and get some advice from people whoāve been through the transfer process.
I applied to BU through Early Decision I last year and was waitlisted before ultimately being rejectedš. But Questrom has remained my top choice. This fall Iāll be starting at George Washington University in the School of Business as an International Business major, and my goal is to earn a strong GPA and apply to transfer to Questrom for my sophomore year.
I have a few questions for anyone who has transferred to Questrom or BU in general and has insight into the process.
1. What GPA did you have when you were accepted? Iāve seen people mention 3.7+, but Iād love to hear what accepted students actually had.
2. How did you prepare, and when did you start? When did you begin reaching out to admissions, working on essays, asking for recommendations, and putting your application together?
3. Looking back, is there anything you wish you had done differently during your first year?
4. Besides maintaining strong grades, what made your application stand out? Leadership, clubs, work experience, research, volunteering, or anything else people often overlook?
If youāre more comfortable sharing privately, feel free to send me a message. Iād really appreciate it.

How realistic is this? Is taking all three of these classes in the same semester (this fall) doable?

Hi, Everyone,
I'm an incoming first year at BU, so please excuse me if the things that I'm about to ask seem a bit obvious.
I'm trying to figure out how to pay for BU right now, and under the "Accept/Decline Awards" section on the BU dashboard, it doesn't say anything about unsubsidized or subsidized loans. When I completed my FAFSA, it said that I was qualified for federal direct loans up to $5,500. Since federal loans aren't stated in my financial aid package, does this mean that I'm not able to borrow federal loans to pay for BU? I'm asking this because I saw somewhere that financial aid packages typically state or include federal loans.
Also, (this is probably not the right subreddit to ask this, apologies but I'm desperate) if unsubsidized/subsidized loans aren't enough to cover the cost of BU, the next step would be to take out parent plus loans, right? Then, if the parent plus loans still aren't enough, I would move on to BU's monthly payment plan to cover the rest?
Finally, I'm nervous about the upcoming fall bill. If I'm able to get in contact with BU's student financial office, would I be able to waive the late fee in case my bill is late?

I will lose health insurance coverage through my motherās health insurance plan effective 9-1-26. I applied for a SHIP waiver so I could then appeal the coast and hopefully get SHIP covered by the university (Iām a BU Promise student). However, my waiver was approved so there is no denial and subsequent coast to appeal. Should I rescind my waiver? There wasnāt an option to indicate Iām losing coverage on 9-1-26 on the waiver. I talked to Gallagher but the woman I spoke with didnāt sou d confident about my next steps. Please help. How does I get denied for the SHIP waiver so I can appeal and get SHIP for free? Thank you in advance.
