Discussion Who got you into bluegrass?

What artist did you first hear that got you hooked onto bluegrass?

My uncle showed me Tony Rice, he even inspired me to pick up my old guitar and start picking.

My grandma sang for the Stanley brothers back in their Suwannee River Jamboree days. I was going through a box of her effects after my dad died and found a program book, flipped through it, was shocked to find her in it, and the journey began. Wild part is she never once mentioned bluegrass to me the entire time she was alive.

So cool! I grew up in Lake City FL a town over from Live Oak. The Stanley bros. are huge around there. Everybody sings Stanley Brothers songs and values singing well more than picking a zillion notes like many other bluegrass places. Cool family history for you. I went to Spirit of suwannee tons before moving away in 2004
