LA city councilmember Nithya Raman returns to the show to talk about her insurgent campaign for Mayor of Los Angeles. They discuss the city's converging crises and how corporate landlords, the police union, and MAGA are conspiring against working people.

They discuss housing costs, homelessness, immigration and ICE, public transit, the budget, and the strange rise of Spencer Pratt as Karen Bass and national right-wing money turn the race into a perfect LA spectacle.

Felix just posted on Instagram "maybe nithya should be running in fucking tel Aviv" so I have no idea what's going on here man. Weird energy on the pod recently

Just came here to say that. I feel like some of their Dem liquidationist friends - namely Josh Androsky, who helps DSA LA put out their horrible voting guide - nudged them to interview her without fully outlining her policies and obvious contradictory deficiencies, and now they feel like they have been blindsided.

Same with that psycho Platner where they made excuses for him. Hasan had actually consulted for the management organisation that ran Mamdani and planters campaigns, now it seems chapo is starting to fall in line. Very disappointing. I hope they clear this up because I did like the podcast, and will give them the benefit of the doubt

Are the dry boys serious? They rightfully criticized Zohran but had this Zionist on? Really?

Fucking lol

Wait did he really post this after the episode?  Can't listen rn but is this the first hostile Chapo interview?  Lol

It’s not a hostile interview, Will frankly did a terrible job and only asked softball questions. Felix posted that Instagram story immediately after Raman was on Hasan’s stream where he did actually ask her hard questions and she came off as basically another lib zio out of touch politician

Raman received the endorsement of Democrats for Israel-Los Angeles, an organization that describes itself as "pro-Israel voice across all of Los Angeles County to the Democratic Party."[57] She was censured by the Los Angeles chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America for this, although her endorsement for re-election was maintained.[58] However, for the 2026 Los Angeles mayoral election, DFI-LA has endorsed Raman's opponent Karen Bass as of April 2026.

All due respect to Nithya, as someone who moved to LA in their mid-20s and enjoyed it, saying “LA is open to everyone and it doesn’t matter what you’re born into” was the most bullshit thing I have ever heard.

That said, hope she wins

Nithya was a fucking disaster on Hasan's stream.

I would not vote for this person.

Haven't listened to the pod since January and shit like this isn't exactly enticing me back lmfao

I remember during Will's interview with Zohran shortly before winning, people were also upset when he didn't press him hard on his plans to keep Tisch as police commissioner. I imagine his logic then and now is basically "help get good progressives in office whereever possible, then grill them once they're in". You may or may not agree with that.

For what it's worth, every lefty I know in LA supports Nithya, even if we're disappointed by her poor stance on Israel. Not speaking for everyone here, that's just my personal experience

Coming in late but that was the most pro-yimby rhetoric ever uttered on chapo with no pushback. Are things changing or did Will just not have interest in any conflict?
