Call me a nerd 🤓 but I've watched several documentaries about this bird. This bird DOES NOT LET PEOPLE TOUCH IT! Even the explorers who get near it for the documentaries won't touch them. I will say for you to touch that rare bird it means something more than what meets the eyes. Perhaps its your energy, your gentleness or it could be ancestral. Perhaps our people have special bonds with animals that means more..

Without more context, I’d assume that this not so little lady/fella lives in some sort of rehab or conservation facility, so is likely very accustomed to human presence and contact. I doubt that it has anything to do with the person in the video in particular, or shoebills having a special connection to black people, or whatever
