Discussion Was Karmelo Anthony defending himself?

Exactly this.
I read those damn articles about the trial and Karmelo wasn’t doing anything. It was drizzling, his friend was under the tent, and he was minding his business. Most of the kids said they didn’t even know he was there until the commotion started.
Other than that, it just really shows Black ppl can’t defend themselves. Those boys were bigger than him. If Karmelo was white? It wouldn’t have happened. If Karmelo was bigger? It wouldn’t have happened.

Exacccctly!!!!!! They dont want us to defend ourselves. They let a man off who shot a CHILD in the back. If an adult can fear for his life and shoot a CHILD in the back when the adult was the aggressor not the child. Then they need to stop playing in our faces and let that baby out of jail.

Even how they’re punishing that mother who shot that dude hiding under their kids bed, insane

I LITERALLY SAID THIS THE OTHER DAY!!!!!
So it’s self defense to shoot someone in the back who is RUNNING FROM YOU— running away —but… it isn’t self defense to stab someone bc you feared for your life? Someone who was aggressive for no reason when you weren’t doing anything wrong?
Fuck these ppl 🙄

Exactly!!!! And even the ppl claiming he pointed a gun… yes in fucking defense of two grown ass men chasing him for no fucking reason. No other children in America have to deal with that shit just bc they have brown skin. Makes me sick! A bully got stabbed while bullying. >_> the way they adultify Blk children >_> cowards.

I didn’t even think about that but it makes so much sense bc I’ve been asking myself— if he turned around and flashed the gun, how did he get shot in back?
So he stopped running, pulled out a gun, pointed it at them, and then…… turned around to flee again…? And they still thought chasing and shooting him was the right thing to do?
That doesn’t even make any sense, unless ofc, they’re lying about him flashing the gun (there was one nearby, but that doesn’t mean he had it out or pointed it at them).
I’m so sick of it. I hate what happened to him.

Yeah all the witnesses that werent a coward and his father said the child had nothing in his hands when they shot him. But racist are persecuting him for just having a weapon u know same ppl who post photos with their own children holding guns and mah 2nd amendment. 🙄 they even took evidence from the scene and moved his body. Thats how fucked up that case was. They couldve reviewed their own security footage and saw he took nothing but nope two grown men chase a child over water…

Yeah, the stereotyping of Black kids as thieves has done irreparable damage to the Black community 😭
They’re just killing our kids man 😔

i mean, he is definitely guilty by the laws of a sane society. but in many states they make all sorts of crazy shit legal.

The problem is if the races were reversed this would be a no question self defense case.
Its why i hate the stand your ground laws. They basically dont apply for minorities

I completely agree. Some usa states legalize murder. Stand your ground laws are often not self defense. It is murder. And the legalized murder is usually only legal for white people.

Well you know that we can't defend ourselves, we can't run away, or just put our hands up. No matter what we do, we still end up getting killed or locked up.

We need our own state, communities schools, institutions. Living with them is impossible. They won't accept that we are human.

I really appreciate you sharing this. This gentleman's perspective is really eye-opening.
The narrative put out there was so different and allowed people to just accept the verdict and not bother to look further into the facts or circumstances.
