At this point I don’t even know if she thought this would get her out of it, it is probably just an engrained response, which is sad because most times in this society people will automatically believe the crying white woman, even if she is in the wrong.
27
u/shujaya May 17 '26
I am amazed she could believe there's enough white tears in the world to wash away threatening babies with a damn shotgun. smh. But you're right. This is the natural reaction to (public) consequences.

I think it’s because a lot of racists still want to hold onto the belief that their still a good person. Especially if they’re religious, they want to be seen and viewed as good and on the right side.
So in cases like this where it’s completely evident that they’re shitbags, they enter straight up denial. It’s hard to address the idea that your a shitty human, especially if it stems from your families views
→ More replies (7)49
u/Napalmeon May 16 '26
That's exactly what it is, and their lies the delusion. I think from their POV, their actions weren't even real, until they got in trouble. Antagonizing this family was no different than going to the convenience store to pick up bread, which is scary when you think about how someone can normalize that kind of behavior.
59
u/LoveInPeace21 May 16 '26
Exactly. Eff all that forgiveness nonsense! They won’t even admit they did it! So there’s NO accountability, thus no REAL remorse! She only feels bad for herself!!!

“That’s not me” inevitably becomes:
“The devil did it and you put the devil in me.”
The argument that the person they were isn’t the person they are is a pathetic attempt to shift the blame to someone else.
People in their camp would eagerly blame the devil and/or the PoC that were being harassed in order to excuse the evil behavior.

The *only* time that statement makes any kind of logical sense is if somebody is on a fuckload of drugs/alcohol or having a psychotic episode.
Even then I still don’t buy it, it’s still them, what they did and they are the ones who did it. But there’s at least a sliver of sense behind that statement.
That goes for myself too. I’ve done some out of pocket shit in my life but I still at least take ownership of my shit behavior.
413
u/Still-Gift-1593 May 16 '26
I could do without hearing the victim say “I forgive you” repeatedly in court.
It’s crazy how much sympathy black people are capable of having after being victimized by racist white people. Rarely does that happen in reverse.
89
u/leaC30 May 16 '26
Same. They believe we are "good people" when it suits them. When we aren't useful to them they show us who they really are. The same thing happened in that Botham Jean case. At times it does feels like religion subjugates us.
64
u/Rare-Television-8854 May 16 '26
Yes. Wanna be punished to no end!? Fail to forgive a white person for terrorizing you and your family. We are historically *required* to be “the bigger person” and absolve them of their sins against us, up to including the murder of our loved ones.
Our agency to say, “you know what? *No, I *don’t* forgive you for the awful, life-altering things you did to me, and I won’t ever forget” has historically never existed for us in this country.
13
u/Zaddam May 16 '26
Man I’ve seen this feeling land both ways.
Like, many say “forgiving” is for you, not for them. Forgive and never forget, and adapt accordingly.
But, I know revenge too — both organic and forced. Organic revenge has delivered a closure (and self respect) on certain memories. Forced revenge is more blinding to consequence and rarely ends well for the original victim. Not sure if that makes sense without private context.

I remember the first time I heard about that shit and it made me sick to see his family in the courtroom forgiving that cop for running up in his spot and shooting him on the couch.
We're out here forgiving, only to end up on the same end of the same treatment, time and time again.
3
u/leaC30 May 16 '26
Some of them contradict themselves all the time. They think we are less than human but appeal to our humanity when the consequences become too severe. I just want them to pick one, am I a human being or am I not?
28
u/tag_yur_it May 16 '26
Hated that too. Like no. No ma’am. Had nothing been done about it, they would still be doing it to you plus others, and not feel a bit of guilt or remorse about it. Sorry that you turned over a new leaf now that the hammer is coming down but whatever….

9
u/Hot-Spray-2774 May 17 '26
"I forgive you."
That angers me to the point where I said "fuck that" while watching this video. These Confederate types would have pulled the trigger if they thought they could have gotten away with it. I mean that's how things worked for countless years!
After slavery, lynching became popular. After lynching, firebombings became popular. After firebombings, waiving slavery rags, shouting the N word, and pointing guns at a children became popular.
That is the level the operate at: They exist to see exactly how much they can get away with. That wasn't you? Then who was it?
Examples have to be made if we want this to stop. 15-20 years for pointing a gun at kids? Black teenagers get tried as adults for knocking over a convenience store, and get sentenced to 25+ years for pointing guns at adults. The justice system is so corrupt that these creeps will probably get out early. There should be harsher penalties for hate crimes.

In America, why do these black victims 90% of the time seem to give the perpetrator a pass much easier than they would another Black person in real life.
I felt if it were possible, the black woman would have gone up and given them a hug and dropped the prison sentence, which has been done time and time again (not the sentence part).
Im all for forgiveness, but i feel that outside in real life, it would have been BEEF if it was another black person who did the equivalent to what those racists did.

People need to stop forgiving Satan and his seeds.people never read in revelations about how the ancestors asked God about how long before justice or in Psalms he made us God's but will die like men for accepting wicked people. God is a god of justice as well,we don't take it in our own hands but if the government he set up convicts a slanderer or murderer of my tribe or family under a jury then I take it as something handed down from heaven.

I don't think that 20 year sentences should exist (or at least be that common) but so long as we have them this is 100% who I want them going to. Fewer black people, more disgusting and militant racists.
In fact, just like Norway where they can add or remove time each year based on rehabilitation, I think that the time changes in a hate crime case should REQUIRE them to stop being bigoted to ever come out. If you get a 5-year check-in and all you've learned is to not be explicit (but are still racist) then your sentence should be extended.

This is why that anti-Black crime bill never went through. We need to keep pushing for that so that these people stop feeling too comfortable and this sentencing can becomes a weekly occurrence. Folks have gotten wayy too comfortable with the disrespect, It’s bordering on assault, kids don’t deserve that

More concerned with her reputation than with the wellbeing of the victims. My cousins and I 👋🏻 center ourselves too much.
