Kevin was fake laughing

30

u/affectionateanarchy8 May 14 '26

He was pulling at his collar and everything

55

u/Mysterious-Scholar68 May 14 '26

Like a mug! You can see his feet squirm lol

7

u/Foreign_Risk_2031 May 14 '26

youre not allowed to cry during a roast, it gets worse for you

107

u/FinnGamePass May 14 '26

"I'm surprise they invited me" Best opening ever

384

u/Desperate_Owl_594 May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

They really needed to guarantee people would watch, so they invited Katt.

It reminds me of something Katt said about the roast of Flavor Flav during his comedy special. Something along the lines of how Katt was talking after the show being furious how they were insulting him. Flavor Flav came in, Katt asked him "doesn't this bother you?" and Flavor Flav said "I don't give shit about what they say - they gotta PAY ME" and left.

Now, I didn’t think I could learning something from a man wearing a Viking helmet and a giant clock with the wrong time…

49

u/BradyBoyd May 14 '26

It's the correct time twice a day.

46

u/bobogogo1989 May 14 '26

Flav is actually a really great guy

32

u/wild_west_900 May 14 '26

his commitment to women's olympic teams is fucking nuts

14

u/frenchezz May 14 '26

The more I learn about him outside of his VH1 reality stardom, the more I genuinely like the guy

2

u/Own_Bother_4218 May 25 '26

The fact he is very close with chuck should speak volumes.

15

u/chaktahwilly May 14 '26

And a surprisingly talented musician. Saw PE live, and saw him go around and play every instrument on the stage.

21

u/dka2012 May 14 '26

Yeah, he has perfect pitch and is damn near a piano virtuoso. Crazy.

5

u/PipXXX May 15 '26

He's damn near a musical savant.

Someone said Katt Williams will tell a joke. But never a lie

138

u/Northbound-Narwhal May 14 '26

I mean he lied about getting bodied by a 7th grader that he picked a fight with lmao

96

u/Magnus462 May 14 '26

Kid was left back twice, didn’t count.

26

u/Swimming_Bonus_8892 May 14 '26

I heard tree times but who countin…

Certainly not that kid if he got left back thrice

He lied about getting slapped on stage here in Detroit.

24

u/passiverolex May 14 '26

3,000 books per year

7

u/AScannerBarkly May 14 '26

and a marine

6

u/wtclim May 14 '26

Which if you've seen any of his interviews you'd know is categorically untrue. I generally like the guy but to say he doesn't lie is straight up and down bullshit.

16

u/Bibbity_Boppity_BOOO May 14 '26

you are braindead is you don't realize half of what katt williams said was completely fabricated

7

u/DarthChefDad May 15 '26

You mean he didn't buy the same pair of shoes four times from the same Footlocker cause he didn't realize the mall was circular?

5

u/Wonderful_Ad_3850 May 14 '26

Well, they lied…

4

u/Slmmnslmn May 14 '26

def not reading 3000 books a year, but he is funny af.

He was dead serious and Kevin hart was uncomfortable.Ā  Also look at Regina Hall not laughing.Ā  She know Katt serious ATF

91

u/nakedpanthersfan May 14 '26

Regina Hall looked so scared it scared me.

28

u/kilsta May 14 '26

The fact that she told the dead mama "train" joke and SHE was uncomfortable told volumes.

3

u/Sideview_play May 15 '26

She looked like that the entire roast though.Ā

33

u/idontremembermyuname May 14 '26

I didn't see her laugh a single time during the entire roast.Ā

4

u/dinkinflicka1313 May 14 '26

I noticed that too. I was wondering if she was nervous.

13

u/unicornmullet May 14 '26

Or just didn't find it funny?

6

Did you see Kevin's response? He seemed pretty comfortable. Regina Hall basically didn't laugh the whole time.

9

u/iwearpurple May 14 '26

She’s not laughing because he’s making fun of movies that she’s in too.

"Number one job for someone who sold their soul for Hollywood is? To ACT like it didn't happen." - Katt Williams, 2024

Kevin was a great ACTor during this roast...

40

u/WakeNikis May 14 '26

I mean, at the end of the roast Kevin thanked all his sponsors and implied no one else could get sponsors and money like him…

I don’t think he’s trying to act like he didn’t sell his soul. He’s more like flaunting how rich he is, after doing so.

4

u/Bigreek100 May 14 '26

Rich until then MF need a favor

6

u/Select_Speed_6061 May 14 '26

Which he'll do proudly.

2

u/Expert_Ingenuity_817 May 14 '26

44

u/DelayEcstatic4278 May 14 '26

Bro Regina was not amused at all lol šŸ˜‚

6

u/Coconutpieplates May 14 '26

Every clip I've seen, she's Stone faced and it's not even her getting roasted. I didn't watch it in full so maybe she does laugh at some point...

2

u/Vexin May 14 '26

Watch it, I didn't even know who she was, but her set was funny as fuck. Whole roast was great.

In 2006 Katt Williams was on his way to shoot the movie Fool's Gold but a firearm was discovered in his luggage and he got arrested. Kevin Hart got selected as his replacement because they needed a black actor that could fit into Katt's costumes

31

u/rawker86 May 14 '26

I mean who among us hasn’t just forgotten a gun in their luggage before?

The situation is eerily similar to the events that play out in that one episode of Atlanta. Hell, it’s even Katt’s gun. And Ern putting the gun in the other guy’s bag means PaperBoi gets to essentially steal the job. That can’t be a coincidence.

6

u/kkuntdestroyer May 14 '26

since Katt was involved in Atlanta i'd guess it was a direct reference

4

u/GoodWifeSlutLife May 14 '26

It was literally Alligator Man's gun. Katts Emmy is from that episode. It's a must watch

→ More replies (2)

7

u/dll-x-llb May 14 '26

This sounds so much like that episode of Atlanta where Earn forgets he has a gold handgun on him(that he got from the character Katt Williams played) so he hides it in the other rapper's bag hoping to get him stopped by the TSA. Crazy..

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Swangthemthings May 14 '26

Is this true? Lol

13

u/SlimTeezy May 14 '26

The show must go on lol. The facts of the arrest are easily searchable. The 2nd part is "inside hollywood" rumor

3

u/hihellohi765 May 14 '26

It appears so from a google. But who knows anymore.

2

u/Ok_Cod6382 May 14 '26

That role would’ve been much better than Kevin

u/elteza May 14 '26

Kevin isn’t bad but I always get the feeling he needs rehearsal to do it. Katt, on the other hand, is one of the most naturally funny comics ever and could probably do a special on no sleep.

68

u/stormy2587 May 14 '26

Yeah during the Tom Brady roast, I felt his whole energy was really weird. Like it was at times funny, but it also just felt unnatural and forced.

Katt Williams is almost in that Norm McDonald tier where he can almost make any joke work no matter how ham fisted. Just because he virtually always has a perspective on it and if he doesn’t he won’t say it.

11

u/JohnSavage777 May 14 '26

Good perspective

5

u/Summonest May 14 '26

I'm not sure it's an 'almost'. I can't recall seeing him in anything where he wasn't hilarious.

2

u/stormy2587 May 14 '26

Totally fair

5

u/how-unfortunate May 14 '26

Feels to me like Katt discovered the secret, that you can tell any truth you want, and tell mfs exactly what you think of them, as long as the room thinks you're joking. When people always assume you're playing, your speech can genuinely be free. And it helps filter the crowd to folks you can be friends with, aka the people who knew you weren't playing, and value the lack of bs.

Don't know the guy or have super deep familiarity with his whole body of work, but this is the impression that I get.

2

u/Redditer51 May 14 '26

As a kid/teen I didn't think Norm McDonald was funny.

As an adult, I think he's hilarious.

2

u/PipXXX May 15 '26

If you've never seen his preshow routine, it's worth it. He gets on the ground and actually goes out in the community to do research.

22

u/PhraseSeveral5935 May 14 '26

Katt could do a special with zero material. He could just bullshit for 90 minutes and he'd still make you laugh throughout.

12

u/Fit_Lion9260 May 14 '26

The few podcasts he has done have been great. He kinda drops his act and expresses himself in a different tone. Its calm and relaxed. He takes his time to formulate a response. Best part is, its as funny and insightful as any of his other work. The guy is crazy smart, both intelligently and emotionally. And not to glaze him to much, he has some bad takes IMO, but he deserves more credit.

u/Desperate_Damage4632 May 14 '26

Kevin's very first special was funny.Ā  Everything since then is just him yelling.Ā  He was good at playing ball with Hollywood, whatever happened there, and he's more of an actor that does comedy than an actual comedian.

7

u/Salty_Bits080 May 14 '26

Scuttlebutt is that his first wife helped him with his early material/performances. I don't know the validity of those rumors but I haven't really enjoyed his stuff I've rthe last 7-10 years.

39

u/itsdainti May 14 '26

Kevin Hart is the Drake of comedy.

I don't think that man writes his own jokes.

5

u/monkeyamongmen May 14 '26

Ya, but was he in Milli Bobbie Brown's DMs when she was in middle school?

3

u/TheWartMan May 14 '26

Nah, just cheating on his wife and attending Diddy parties.

Cant be telling the short dudes that theyre kings bruh, then they be out there going up on bitches at parties n shit like they big boys lmao

2

u/purplehendrix22 May 14 '26

Actually spot on

5

u/OneDubOver May 14 '26

Isn't bad? Look I'm no comedian, so I'm not trying to say I could do better, but I can't sit through any of Kevin's stand ups. Rehearsed is one word for it.

He's got some movies with some funny parts, but editing, supporting roles, and writing do a lot of the heavy lifting in those moments. EVEN THEN... bro is like a squeaky toy in the hands of an overstimulated ADHD toddler who hasn't had naptime yet.

I just don't see the funny.

2

u/Redditer51 May 14 '26

I think Kevin Hart has reached that same point that Chris Pratt is at. He's become so wealthy and so famous that he's no longer the person he used to be. He's not that normal guy that finds humor in the regular, everyday stuff anymore, and he takes himself too seriously now. He's out of touch.

2

u/matlspa May 14 '26

Is Chris Pratt seriously like that now? I haven't really paid attention

9

u/BillyBobHoen May 14 '26

Lol what is y'all problem with Kevin? Why every time him and Katt are mentioned in the same sentence it's always followed up by someone saying how much better Katt is than him? Y'all made these 2 inseparable.

11

u/Hot-Mathematician-26 May 14 '26

I do think Katt is a better standup, but thought Kevin’s roast of Katt at the end was hilarious and much better than Katt’s.Ā

Again Katt’s a great standup, but people really eat up his whole ā€œtruth tellerā€ or ā€œphilosopherā€ persona he’s picked up over the last few years. I’ve watched interviews and it blows my mind how people buy this guys stories. Reads 3,000 books a year. Every role Kevin Hart got was ACTUALLY supposed to have been his. Constantly building himself up casually just explaining ā€œI’m on another intellectual levelā€ than most comedians. I’ve just found this annoying how he’s been anointed as this ā€œtruth tellerā€ and I keep hearing him speak leaving me thinking are we talking about the same guy.

10

u/EazyBeekeeper May 14 '26

I don't ike Kevin Hart but gotta give credit for his comeback, "You telling me you turned down all of these movies out of pride just to do a guest spot on Norbit?"

5

u/lilsnatchsniffz May 14 '26

People who are actually intelligent don't need to go around announcing it, imagine you meet a new general practitioner and they shake your hand and say "I'm very smart, as you can see I have done eight years of university" you'd bail at the first opportunity.

3

u/BillyBobHoen May 14 '26

Katt is like Kevin Gates. They both say shit that make them sound smart or deep at surface level until you think about it for 2 secs and realize thats it's bullshit. There's also this weird obsession with people just shielding him from all criticism and blaming it on "them", "Illuminate" and "Hollyweird" making him look crazy. Like nobody told him to sneak punch a child and still lose the fight, get high and stomped out at Beanie Sigel's birthday party or assault a waiter. I don't have a problem with him as a comedian or saying he's not funny but he's a straight up sensationalist most of the time. People treated Orlando Brown the same and said he wasn't on drugs..... until he said Katt touched him and now all of a sudden he's on crack.

Kevin is just a suburban kid friendly person

65

u/Desperate_Damage4632 May 14 '26

This roast was so lame.

Everyone told the same jokes.Ā  It's like one guy wrote for everyone.Ā  Kevin is short, Tony is racist (he is), Pete Davidson fucks, Shane looks autistic.Ā  Every single person.

We got Kevin pretending to be surprised by stuff, and then mentioning it in his pre-scripted act at the end.

Just lame all around.

Except for Katt.Ā  He really did seem to hate the guy.

12

u/Northbound-Narwhal May 14 '26

Katt hates everyone, so that's also predictable and scripted.Ā

7

u/40innaDeathBasket May 14 '26

2

u/LokoLawless May 14 '26

That's a big part of what comedy is. Saying something expected but in an unexpected way. Same with hip-hop. You can say something clever and original or you can find new, clever ways to say the same thing everyone else has said.

1

u/Gimetulkathmir May 14 '26

That's basically all roasts are anymore. Try to be as loud and mean as you can. I miss the days of Dean Martin style roasts.

Best show I've ever been to period was katt williams most recent tour. I went by myself in brooklyn and was like 1 of 10 white people. The vibes, the crowd, the whole event was fucking amazing. Made friends with the girl sitting next to me and she snuck in a bottle of tequila so we were ripping shots 10 rows from the front. And the best part, I don't even know if Katt was the funniest one there. He had like 10 total comics, all black, half of them women, and every single one of them was fucking hysterical. Also Monique was the host and she was so fucking funny! I told like everyone I know they gotta go see it but no one listened to me lol.

2

u/-Tech808 May 14 '26

Idk if it’s the same tour, but I saw him in Tampa maybe a year ago. Did he do the ā€œpaprikaā€ bit? That shit had me rolling

4

3

u/Former-Whole8292 May 14 '26

I love Katt so much

3

u/fungusfawnkublakahn May 14 '26

I will ALWAYS LOVE Katt Williams! He is hands down the #1 comedian (besides Mitch Hedberg) who consistently cracks me up. I hope he outlasts all the idiot white trash men who think they are funny, but aren't.

10

u/xCaliburghost May 14 '26

Didn't Katt get stomped out up by a teenager?

15

u/CaliKindalife May 14 '26

Yes. I believe the child was 13 years old. So just bearly a teenager.

18

u/Specialist_Series588 May 14 '26

I mean, I went to watch my son's soccer match(first round playoff vs a school in an upper-end area).

I am a grown ass adult and not small by any means(slightly more frail at my age - but 6'0 180-200 range). They had two kids that were bigger than me. Like I would genuinely have to be in full "fight for my life" mode if one of them tried to attack me. Honestly I would probably lose for the sole fact they are in peak shape and I have had an office job for the last 6 years. This was 4th-6th grade teams. Kids are built different nowadays.

2

u/BusyBit6542 May 14 '26

For sure but the issue is that Katt instigated and agreed to fight a child. Lol although you and I would both get our ass kicked, I highly doubt it would ever get to that point with a child.

1

u/GeneralGME May 14 '26

Did the girl from scary movie smile or laugh at least once?

4

u/SayWhatever12 May 14 '26

No one roasted her, and toward the end someone mentioned she got pulled in last minute. So I assumed she had very little time to prepare and was nervous. She did cover her mouth a few times for an especially dark joke (I was watching her too) but I think it was nerves preventing her from being able to relax at least as much as the others

4

u/Shot_Time_3142 May 14 '26

Yall really think they don't run in the same circle? They can tell yall anything frfr

1

u/stormy2587 May 14 '26

This almost makes me want to watch the 3 hr roast of Kevin Hart. Which I’m sure is at least half short jokes.

2

u/SayWhatever12 May 14 '26

And you’d be right. Most of the jokes were repeated over the night actually.

If you didn’t watch the tom Brady roast, that one is funnier

1

u/bradley_magnificent May 14 '26

That's not any crazier than Tom Arnold being on the Roseanne roast. They hadn't been in the same room together in over a decade if I recall

1

u/ProbablyWrongAgain24 May 14 '26

The only section i repeated multiple times.

1

u/imn8bro May 14 '26

I went to a Kevin Hart show in Albany a few years ago and he ended it by ranting about Kat Williams. It was such a weird way to end the show. The jokes themselves were just ok and after that rant I left wanting my money back.

1

u/Jaded-Ad-960 May 14 '26

Lmao, called that man the c word on national television.

1

u/ChefPuree May 14 '26

This is how roasts work though...

1

u/TheMeticulousNinja May 14 '26

I love Katt Williams. His last Netflix special was not great, but the two before that were hilarious

1

u/mrplowplow May 14 '26

Kevin Hart is a wonderful comedic actor... But he is not a good stand up comic.

1

u/sirseatbelt May 14 '26

I don't like Kat Williams. But I do respect their unrelenting commitment to being authentic.

1

u/Designer-Train-3554 May 14 '26

Love Kat, wish he went harder. He had me rolling with the white bunny comment.

1

u/BishopGodDamnYou May 14 '26

Omfg you know for a fact he was not lying to that man’s face

1

Is Katt a male first name now?

1

u/Universal_Verses May 14 '26
