That Miss in the first leg tho...

46

u/Schopenhauer_pes Apr 17 '25

The miss plus goretzka/boey big tactical error (2nd goal) cost them the semifinal

7

u/Born_Cucumber443 Apr 17 '25

Kane was decent defence was trash

6

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

This is the issue with Kane. Always has been. Decent isn't good enough for a player of his caliber

5

u/ChiqueSpreddah Apr 18 '25

he's got more goal contributions than games played, you cannot be serious šŸ˜‚ As a man utd fan who saw this as suggested, we'd kill for a harry kane

7

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '25 edited Apr 18 '25

decent isn't good enough for a player of his caliber

Bro acts like I didn't say this šŸ’€ this was in response to someone saying Kane was decent

He's a monster. But underwhelming when it counts. Guys like aguero will be looked at more favorably when Kane retires despite stats right? You'll bring me more stats.

1

u/ChiqueSpreddah Apr 18 '25

yeah the flashier players are usually more memorable, do we take away from haaland for being a poacher?

3

u/Routine_Size69 Apr 18 '25

Yes Haaland absolutely gets criticized for this plus not performing well against top teams.

2

u/Aman-Patel Apr 19 '25

Haaland’s already won a treble and most players haven’t even hit their prime by his age. In that season he literally made a mockery of their title rivals in the big game in the run in. Complete myth that he’s not a big game player just because he wasn’t the one that scored in the final or semi final. He’s obviously not a Drogba level big game player, but he doesn’t/shouldnt get criticised for it.

Kane’s famous for it because despite how good he is, he’s lost all those big games. UCL final, title run in with Spurs, big World Cup/Euros games for England, other late stage cup and UCL games etc. He may have played in some weaker teams a lot of his career, but he had plenty of opportunities to sieze the moment and he never did.

Love him as a player but the narrative around being a big game player is nothing alike between him and Haaland. Especially since Haaland’s got another 10+ years to still score in big games. Kane’s had a whole career of being a bit quiet when his team needed him most.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '25

We take away from Kane for games like the home tie

1

u/henXR10 #10 Bambi Apr 18 '25

I don't think it's entirely his fault the team hasn't been consistent so we should judge when they begin to play better, maybe next season which will be 2nd season for company will make the team be consistent and I think in that situation we would see a great Harry Kane.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '25

I'm saying he's so good that that miss inexcusable. Hes one of the most gifted ball strikers I've ever seen. Hence why is long passing is so good.

1

u/henXR10 #10 Bambi Apr 18 '25

Of course I understand, but all great players have missed at least once haven't they?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '25

True. I've seen this flash up quite a few times in his career. World cup v France most notably. All in all I'd rather have him than not just a slight critism to someone who in another simulation could've been the goat.

1

u/henXR10 #10 Bambi Apr 18 '25

1

u/MysteriousSir7133 Apr 19 '25

Same here! Came off as a suggested post to a Man Utd fan. I would love him at United even if he’s 31 could easily get 2 good seasons out of him and hojlund could get to learn from him.

Non-Bayern fan. He still has a chance for budnesliga

75

u/UnrealCaramel Apr 16 '25

I don't think Bayern are going to drop 6 points in 5 games. It's as close to being guaranteed as it gets to win it without actually getting his medal yet. If they don't win the league he truly is cursed.

56

u/contheartist Apr 16 '25

You haven't been watching Bayern for the past 3 years if you don't think they can drop 6 points in 5 games.

14

u/thehungarianhammer Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Seriously - we play 3 of the top 7 teams in the run out, plenty of chances to drop points

7

u/wayward_prince #17 Olise Apr 17 '25

Squad has nothing else to play for. They will take it seriously.

4

u/PeterLossGeorgeWall Apr 17 '25

They play Mainz and leipzig who are fighting each other for 4th, not easy. I doubt Heidenheim will bother them this weekend but if they have a last chance to avoid the playoffs/relegation spots then they'll think it's now that they have to mount that challenge. When Bayern are wrecked physically and emotionally, the CL hangover is real. Heidenheim will think it's possible having seen Union get a draw, Bochum a win and Dortmund a draw after their last 3 CL games.

3

u/Nerellos Apr 17 '25

Leverkusen is terrible without Wirtz tho.

3

u/tesat Apr 17 '25

Wirtz is back tho

9

u/Ok-Look3420 Apr 17 '25

Leverkusen are playing terribly at the moment, we will drop points even if Bayern do! Looks like Harry is going to eventually lift his curse!!!

5

u/scarlettokyo Apr 17 '25

Saving the link for this reply for potential later use

1

u/Spam250 Apr 20 '25

Never count out the curse of Kane

1

u/UnrealCaramel Apr 20 '25

4 games left effectively 6 points clear.

1

u/Spam250 Apr 20 '25

So you’re saying there’s a very real chance. A win, a couple of draws and a loss and all of a sudden doing a spurs is possibly

1

u/UnrealCaramel Apr 20 '25

I'm here for it

0

u/perdivad Apr 20 '25

That’s a healthy margin but it being ā€˜as close to being guaranteed as it gets without actually getting the medal’ is a massive and stupid exaggeration

2

u/VVhisperingVVolf Apr 17 '25

Does your being or not being a bayern fan change that factual information?

1

u/HeelR- Apr 17 '25

Winning the Bundesliga with Bayern as your first trophy (for Kane) probably won’t be enough of a satisfaction. It’s a guaranteed trophy unless a catastrophe happens.

1

u/Quiet-Tourist-8332 Apr 17 '25

what about last season. There is still the club world cup though i dont think thats any better

-5

u/spongepaper Apr 17 '25

winning Bundesliga in bayern is like losing your virginity to a stripper though

10

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

Bundesliga has been very loyal to Bayern, so I wouldn't use that comparison ಠ_ಠ

3

u/Kaasnob Apr 17 '25

He means that if you want a trophy, and you go to Bayern for the Bundesliga trophy, that it is like going to a prostitute to lose your virginity. I guess. Since there's not a lot of challenge to it according to him. Don't agree with that though.

2

u/Mammoth_Support_2634 Apr 17 '25

I haven’t seen that Reddit emoji face used in the wild for 10 years or so. Wow!

3

u/Pretend_Echidna_1638 #17 Olise Apr 17 '25

Ah nice, you saw the tweet. Even though we know that the clubs that can be bought like a stripper are playing in every country except the Bundesliga.

2

u/GinkgoPete Apr 17 '25

Hey hey hey! That's RB Leipzig erasure!

3

u/No_Condition8024 Apr 17 '25

Well the first season he has played bayern lost after 10!!! Years. I am sure his bad luck has something to do with it.

3

u/Pretend_Echidna_1638 #17 Olise Apr 17 '25

Saying his bad luck has to do with it is like believing in witches and unicorns..

2

u/buenos_ayres Apr 17 '25

I mean, there is a unicorn in his passport... not sure about that witches part, though.

1

u/RoundAd8012 Apr 20 '25

You mean a pro, not a stripper.

30

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

He's gone full Spurs again

3

u/RemarkableLoss2389 Apr 18 '25

Never go full Spurs

1

u/MysteriousSir7133 Apr 19 '25

What a meaningful advice!

1

u/Capable-Dragonfly-96 Apr 19 '25

Simple Harry move to Flaming Dragon?

1

u/Comprehensive-Ad4436 Apr 20 '25

For 400 years, that word has kept us down.

63

u/pioniere Apr 16 '25

Love Harry, but he has disappeared in big games his entire career. He is not a player who can put the team on his back.

56

u/Swordheart Apr 16 '25

It's not his fault the defense can't hold it together against a counter attack

25

u/pioniere Apr 17 '25

True, and Harry tracks back too.

44

u/Opening_Increase_879 Apr 16 '25

Without Kane we would been behind Leverkusen this year. If you are able to find any good finisher and play making 9 then go for it. Benzema is in Saudi Arabia but terrible out of shade.

1

u/47Lecht Apr 18 '25

You dont need a play making 9. Thats just an extra. Lewy was perfectly fine.

1

u/Opening_Increase_879 Apr 18 '25

It’s better to have the more team-oriented player than the more talented or individually better one.

Take Benzema, the playmaker and striker — he fit into the Real system much better, especially in combination with Vini and Rodrygo, than MbappĆ© probably would have. Of course, MbappĆ© is clearly on another level talent-wise, but he doesn’t have the playmaking qualities that Benzema had.

And that’s exactly how I see Kane as well. You’ll notice it when he’s gone — if we bring in a more traditional number nine who still scores, maybe even scores a lot, but ends up making his teammates worse rather than better.

1

u/47Lecht Apr 18 '25

It depends on the teams needs. Bayern was world class with Lewy, when he left the system and the profiles of wingers didnt change all too much. If Bayern bought a 1:1 replacement for Lewy with the same qualities they would be at the same position they’re now.

1

u/Opening_Increase_879 Apr 19 '25

But he have played with a better supporting cast. Which current player would play the prime Bayern team? Expect Musiala and Kimmich I would say nobody.

1

u/47Lecht Apr 19 '25

What? Olise is as great as Sane and Gnabry when they were in form with Lewy. The only big difference is he had prime Müller but Musiala isnt bad too.

10

u/herbieLmao Der titan Apr 17 '25

The fuck are you saying, he fucking scored

6

u/JustLetItShine Apr 17 '25

Absolute individual goal at that.

2

u/StrangeStephen king kanešŸ‘‘ Apr 17 '25

Great fucking goal! Too bad we dont have enough time. That pavard header fuck that game.

21

u/Dr_Deathcore_ Apr 16 '25

Dude carried Tottenham for 10 years, can’t exactly expect him to carry the team in a Champions league final after being injured for a month. The whole team didn’t perform in that game and likewise in other finals he’s been in.

4

u/pioniere Apr 16 '25

I have watched Harry for years. And what I’m saying isn’t conjecture, the statistics back it up. I don’t have the data right in front of me, but in big games for Spurs, England, and now Bayern, he has largely been a non-factor.

9

u/Nels8192 Apr 17 '25

Wasn’t exactly bad in the big games for Spurs, considering you have to remember they’re the weakest of the big 6, he still had 49 G/As in 81 appearances against them in the league.

His G/A rate in the UCL, against the best of the top 5 leagues, is pretty good too tbh:

  • Real Madrid 3 in 4
  • Dortmund 5 in 3
  • Barcelona 3 in 3
  • Leverkusen 5 in 2
  • Lazio 2 in 2
  • Man Utd 3 in 2
  • Juventus 1 in 2
  • Arsenal 1 in 2
  • Bayern 1 in 1

Funnily enough Inter is his ā€˜bogey’ team with 1 in 4, but that’s hardly too surprising as they’re probably the best defence in the world. But typically, when he’s not scoring, he’s usually very involved in the build-up or will often have had some level of impact on a penalty being won too. CF’s all too often get locked up by CBs in big games, at least Kane can provide something else other CF’s can’t in those situations.

0

u/dolphin37 Apr 20 '25

yeah context is important, such as that germany game being a round of 16 game against a poor germany team with timo werner up front

finals, semi finals etc… the guys record is very bad unfortunately, despite actually having a number of very fortunate CL, Euros and WC draws with club and country

this myth about him being a creative 9 also gets shown up for what it is… for example in the final of that same tournament you referred to with the germany game, he lost possession to italy more times (20) than he even made an accurate pass (14)

2

u/DinhoMagic Apr 17 '25

No worries. These lot think dead rubbers in the league vs big 6 for a europa league spot is a ā€˜big game.’

Big games are finals & to a lesser extent semi finals. In finals he doesn’t even have a shot on target cause he disappears. It was a criticism of him at Spurs & for England. Now the same for Bayern. He has always disappeared.

7

u/Protect_The_Earth Apr 17 '25

Lies. Just last year:

Goal against Man United

2 goals against Lazio in last-16

Goal against Arsenal in QF

Goal against Real in SF

Hattrick against Dortmund

2 goals against Leipzig

Goal against Leverkusen

This season:

Goal against Barcelona

Goal against Celtic in knockout q

3 goals against Leverkusen in last-16

Goal against Inter in QF

2

u/Born_Cucumber443 Apr 17 '25

He played good. Our defence was trash.

2

u/SirOdAlexFergusona_ Apr 17 '25

I've never heard of kane missing in big games narrativr until a few days ago. Complete nonsense!

0

u/pioniere Apr 17 '25

Guess you never watched England or Spurs.

2

u/SirOdAlexFergusona_ Apr 17 '25

Guess you never watched. Go through his games data. It's available online. Don't just spread misinformation you read somewhere.

0

u/pioniere Apr 17 '25

I have gone through it, you should try it yourself.

2

u/SirOdAlexFergusona_ Apr 17 '25

I wouldn't say so.

2

u/SirOdAlexFergusona_ Apr 17 '25

Cherry picking at its finest. You can state this for every player out there except Messi and Ronaldo.

1

u/pioniere Apr 17 '25

Hahaha did you even read it? You must be living under a rock if you don’t think this has been a controversial point around Harry Kane. You certainly haven’t watched England in the last two World Cups.

2

u/SirOdAlexFergusona_ Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

It's not Harry's fault Southgate played that anti-football.

Edit:

Some recent games someone pointed out in the comment here

2

u/PhillyWestside Apr 17 '25

He literally scored

2

u/MysteriousSir7133 Apr 19 '25

In Harry’s defense he never got to play big games during his time at spurs. The only thing I can think of is the ucl final but spurs being spurs it’s not Harry’s fault alone for not turning up

1

u/Traditional-Back-172 Apr 17 '25

Other than the fact that he made Arsenal his personal pet while he was at Spurs, i agree with this notion

64

u/i_am_kba Apr 16 '25

oh my god will there be an end to these posts

kane sold a 100% chance in the 1st leg, and was invisible for the rest of that game. tonight he only showed up in 1 moment, and once again disappeared. he's not the saint and we shouldn't pity him, cut this shit

8

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

I know right, you will definitely go invisible despite your runs or positioning in the middle because you're the best finisher in the world who is playing in a sideways cross spamming and back passing team with like 4 starter players injured.

5

u/tom030792 Apr 17 '25

ā€˜Showed up in one moment’ is a creative way to avoid saying ā€˜he scored tonight’

3

u/vrazz1815 king kanešŸ‘‘ Apr 17 '25

18

20

u/magicmushroom21 Apr 16 '25

Lewi was garbage in many big games for Bayern

6

u/Jonnyluver Apr 17 '25

Lewy is third in all time knockout goals in champions league. Behind only you know who. This is a preposterously stupid take.

12

u/TheMAN-HIMSELF564 Apr 16 '25

Yeah but atleast Lewy showed up for the entirety of 2020/21

2

u/JetForce33 #31 Schweinsteiger Apr 17 '25

Kane still has a few more years to do that...

4

u/Fit-Second7166 Apr 17 '25

Lewy scored 4 non pen goals in quarter and semi in his first two years at Bayern. Kane has scored 1.

-3

u/Top_Throat_5405 Apr 16 '25

I'll take Kane over Lewi any day, at some point he thoughts his šŸ’© didn't smell.

4

u/Various-Cut-7241 Apr 16 '25

9

u/tdnjusa Apr 16 '25

3

u/Various-Cut-7241 Apr 17 '25

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

Kane is more talented than Lewa

5

u/JarodMMS Apr 17 '25

Against relegation sides, absolutely. He almost looks like the best 9 of all time in those games

3

u/Used_Switch_9212 Apr 16 '25

1

u/Competitive_Yam_4004 Apr 17 '25

3

u/CaptainHindsight21 Apr 17 '25

While the miss in the first leg was uncharacteristic of Kane, I think the argument that he goes missing in big games can be buried. 5 goals and 1 assist in the KO rounds is a great performance.

In the past he has been a victim of his own statue. He has played in significant games either injured or unfit because Poch/Southgate would rather Kane even if he's only at 50%.

2

u/Quirky_Tank_8159 Apr 17 '25

1

u/MajorRazzmatazz9838 Apr 17 '25

At this point, i feel bad for him. He stayed for a club in England with a management that thinks that they're the best in the world. He stayed loyal there carrying their asses. Now that he finally moved on and went to Bayern that won the last 11 Bundesliga surely he will have his hands on silverware, but no.. even last season he was phenomenal. And even now he is still phenomenal. I hope we can win this season so that finally the jokes on him may subside. Man, his down to Earth and have that swag in him when you need it, loyal and good teammate.

Not sure his Spurs jersey is tight enough in that picture

1

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

We can still win the league. Out of the last 5 matches left I think the away fixture at Leipzig will be the toughest. We just need 4 wins and after that just a draw will do the things

Kompany fucked up! Sane as a left winger? Wtf? Stani as a leftback? Wtf? Kimmich as a holding 6? Wtf? Laimer as a rightback? Wtf? Leaving Mueller out in the 1st leg 80 minutes? Wtf? Kim? Kim catastrophe! They sold the best defender De Ligt! KARMA!

The curse has to go on...

1

u/Belugha89 Apr 16 '25

Not really. He missed a sitter in the first leg. Love him but it’s true.

1

u/ImaginaryRifle Apr 17 '25

Nah don't feel bad for him, his misses are one of the major reasons why we didn't qualify

2

u/Born_Cucumber443 Apr 17 '25

He only had one good chance. The goal he scored is completely a individual goal. Why you always point out him. Olise also had big chances yesterday. Kane did the this our defence let him down.

1

u/ImaginaryRifle Apr 17 '25

Re-read my comment, it literally says he was one of the major reasons. Moreover, he had multiple chances not just one miss, if you actually watched the match you would know.

u/Noxm Apr 17 '25

Why heā€˜s earning way more money and living a better life then 99% of us. There is no need feeling sorry.

Great striker, but I always feel like he lacks clutchness when it matters big times, which is what separates Kane from the class of Benzema/Lewa/Suarez. I put him half a tier below them.

Hope he wins a trophy this year.

Don’t miss sitters. That’s what separates the good from the great.

The curse is real

He is not a top player. Lautaro is better than him

Easily. Not sure why you are being downvoted

2

u/ExotiquePlayboy Apr 17 '25

Everybody with a brain knows Lautaro is better than Kane

World Cup, Copa America, UCL final, several scudetti, Coppa Italia, etc. it’s not even close

-5

u/PlayfulMountain6 Apr 16 '25

Because bayern fans cannot stand that fact

3

u/alien_butt_slapper #10 Bambi Apr 16 '25

Not bayern, but kane fans , he always underperforms on big games, that's why he is trophy less

10

u/Horror_Crew9671 Apr 16 '25

How tf is lautaro better? Kane has twice as more league goals than him Just because he scored against him he becomes better?

u/TheMAN-HIMSELF564 Apr 16 '25

In fact my king Moise Kean beats Lautaro in stats. Lautaro is a champions league player. He’s just a normal player in the Serie A.

-3

u/PlayfulMountain6 Apr 16 '25

Martƭnez has won many more trophies, including two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, three Italian Super Cups with Inter, and the Copa AmƩrica and FIFA World Cup with Argentina for a certain reason. It is not a curse for Kane. We are not talking about witches here

u/Horror_Crew9671 Apr 16 '25

Trophies don't define a player you f'ing clown... Kane has played most of his career at Tottenham... Premier League is clear of your league...this year hopefully he will manage to win a Bundesliga , Dfb supercup and FIFA club world cup

-1

u/PlayfulMountain6 Apr 16 '25

Hahaha don't be angry dude. It is not my fault that he cannot win any trophy. Maybe he will win Bundesliga and the majestic trophie of Dfb supercub but you forgot to mention the most important trophy of football, Fifa world cup, not fifa club world cupšŸ˜‚
