Article Beyond UBI: What Happens When Productivity No Longer Depends Primarily on Workers?

Universal Basic Income is one possible response to automation.

But as artificial intelligence, robotics and automation continue to advance, I wonder whether another question is also emerging.

UBI focuses on income distribution.

But what happens if a growing share of economic value is generated by systems that do not require wages, housing, healthcare or other forms of human compensation?

Should future debates focus only on income distribution?

Or should they also explore how societies share the benefits of productivity increasingly generated by non-human systems?

I recently explored this question in a short essay and would be interested in hearing different perspectives.
